Chapter 7 - JAMES JORDAN

JAMES JORDAN

[POV of James Jordan]

Ever since I saw Martha or should I say Elizabeth at the back of my truck, something from her called to me and I just wanted to see to her wellbeing.

I had never properly had anyone that I wanted to protect or care deeply for ever since the heart break. Most persons would feel that I should have been able to get back on my feet surely after some time but it was not that easy especially when the person I saw her kissing was my own immediate elder brother. I felt I could have managed if it was a total stranger but it was not even about the person involved, it was about the lady I loved.

Martha explained everything to me and I knew that I can easily give her up to the authorities but I could not just bear to do so. These past few weeks with her has been amazing and it was like I got to breathe fresher air. Having someone else on my land was amazing. I felt I was enough till she came around, I thought I was doing just okay till she came around and I would not allow some feeble minded and wicked human to ruin my joy and Martha's.

I believed her story and surprised myself when I hugged her as she began to recount what ensued last between herself and Dr Matthew. It seems she needed it because she hugged me back and cried a lot. I had never seen her so shaken and I could only imagine what she had gone through. I silently swore to protect her and I knew that the first protection she needed was legal.

As much as I liked her company, she was still a young girl that had not seen the world properly and I would like for her to go out there, to walk freely on any street of her choice, go anywhere she chooses without the feeling that she could be arrested or for her to hide herself in vehicles like she did in mine just to go from one place to another. I knew just the right way to get this protection. I needed to solicit help from my best friend.

Thomas Morgan was the best man on my wedding day and he was the friend that was with me when I went through that horrible phase of my life. He cheered me up and encouraged me to get a job. I did, as the manager of the biggest shoe making company in Naylatan.

I was in the job and immersed myself fully in it, in need of a perfect distraction. It was till one day when I was coming back from work, I fainted as I was leaving the premises of the company and was rushed to the hospital.

I was told that if I did not take care of my health, I could have senile dementia. I decided to recuperate in a place that was clear of hustle and bustle and it led me to this land I inherited from my mum in Cradon. Before coming I had a long time to think while I was lying on that hospital bed.

I thought to myself that if I died or just let myself get tolled away by my work, that those that knew me would only cry and later continue their lives and that I had to find inner peace and also find a way to put a smile on the faces of others; directly or indirectly. I told Thomas and he introduced me to an organization - THE HEART.

The Heart is a very hidden body and few of the aims of the organization is to keep an eye on the government, clashing of underground private rival bodies from affecting the public, protect children in private orphanages from traffickers and many more other forms of protection.

I became oneof the staunch members in this organization in a short while because of how I devoted I became. We had young men and women who worked in this organization, some were deadly snipers, some were very good at combat, some were into improving and inventing high level technological materials and there were many more segments.

In my younger days I was also a part of the combat team but stopped when I discovered a particular day how stiff my bones were getting while I was combating with an enemy. It doesn't mean I can't still put some careless human in their place when I am tried though.

The job kept my mind at bay from most of the loneliness I should have felt and also helped me not to be a regular worker in a firm that works her workers out and not to live like an ordinary human. I was grateful to my friend and it had been a long time we had any serious job to do in the organization.

Well, I think that was about to change because we have Martha's case around and I would make sure the tables turn around Dr Matthew, whoever he might be but first I had to go to my secret room to inform Thomas that I did be coming to the capital to pay him a visit. The next few months were going to be a busy one.
