"The source energy in high heaven nourishes the body and allows it to achieve its peak form…..I know all of you have gotten to the peak human stage, but even you still need to understand more; otherwise, you will never leave that stage…." A voice resounded from inside a training room.
"click"
But the sound of the door opening cut the voice off.
"Speaking of people that will never leave peak human stage, Wilder, you've finally decided to grace us with your presence?" The man who was speaking earlier said upon seeing the new arrivals:
"Ah, sorry I'm late," Wilder apologized with a slight bow.
This man was clearly an instructor in the academy, so he had to show some level of respect.
"hm?" A look of confusion slowly appeared on the instructor's face after seeing Wilder apologize.
And Wilder quickly caught the glimps of surprise in the instructor's face.
He didn't know why the instructor looked so confused—wasn't it normal to pay respects to them?
"Take your position." The instructor regained his composure in the next minute.
It was natural for cadets to show respect to their instructor, so he shouldn't be surprised, but Wilder? It was different coming from him.
"So as I was saying, push yourself to your limits and never forget that mankind is surrounded by enemies if we don't grow stronger we will eventually become….." the instructor continued talking
Wilder, who was now standing among the other cadets in the room, soon noticed something strange.
The cadets were gossiping about something in hushed voices, and upon closer examination, he realized what they were talking about.
"They are talking about me?" Wilder looked quite confused.
"Serves him right. He took my strength mix last semester."
"Karma finally got him."
"He's probably here to beg the instructor for a second chance or something."
"That makes sense, no wonder he bowed so respectfully. I hope he gets turned down. That'll teach him not to bully people."
Wilder listened to them whispering attentively.
"What did this guy do?" Wilder's face turned to one of dismay.
Apparently the previous owner of this body was either a bully or he just went around causing mischief, because Wilder couldn't think of any other reason as to why they seemed to dislike him so much.
He had spent a good half of his life playing hide and seek in the immortal world; he had been chased down, captured, tortured, and killed on several occasions, and now that he was back on earth, he finds out the previous owner of his new body was hated by all?.
Wilder wished that he could just scream at the top of his lungs.
"Hey, I'm the victim here!" This was absolutely not fair; it seemed like he would never be able to catch a break.
"Oh yes, you must all know that the year three cadets are finishing their battle training mission in two weeks, which means that if you haven't advanced to enhance human rank by then, you will have to leave the special grade class," the instructor explained.
It was only natural.
The end of the battle training mission marked their graduation from the Academy, and as for them in the second year; they would be advancing to the third year, and the third year special grade requirements were for one to be at enhanced human stage first.
Wilder didn't know much about enhanced humans an hour ago, but he was able to trick Liam into giving him some basic information.
Firstly, he explained and talked about some stages of strength in the real world, but he only focused on 3 stages.
the fitness stage—most people could achieve this with little to no training.
The peak human stage—that was the stage he was currently in. It took a lot of hard work to achieve that, plus the sources gotten from the game: High Heaven helped a lot, hence why most people invested in the game.
It was for strength.
Then there was the Enhanced Human Stage, which completely dwarfed the Peak Human Stage in terms of strength, speed, and raw power.
It was the true stage of elites in this academy, but not everyone could achieve it, and that was why the special grades class existed; they were there to make sure those with great potential actually achieved it.
According to what he gathered, the previous owner of this body got into the peak human stage before everyone else in the special grades class, but he had stagnated ever since, and now, coupled with his injuries, no one believes that he would be able to actually continue with the special grades class.
"Okay, you can have the rest of the day off, Wilder, I assume that you would like to see me so stay behind," the instructor said.
Not long after everyone else exited the room, leaving Wilder and the instructor,
"Okay, go ahead," the instructor retracted his chair.
He wasn't the textbook definition of a military instructor; when one thought of a military instructor in this day and age, one would think of a fit man with chiseled abs and a great body.
But he just looked like an ordinary high school teacher.
"i…" Wilder really didn't know what to say; he didn't know anything about the whole thing until roughly a few minutes ago, plus he didn't ask to be here; the instructor just commanded him without asking him.
"Okay, let me go first. What are you even doing here? I thought that you were severely injured and lost to Noland in a bet. You have to understand that we honor our bets in the Warhawk Academy unless you want to tell me that you actually beat him if not, I don't think you should come back here again, save us both the embarrassment," the instructor spoke to Wilder in a rather condescending tone.
Wilder could understand that his beef was with the previous owner of this body, but he didn't like the way this old bastard talked to him one bit.
"Are you done?" Wilder said in a cold tone.
"Hm?" the instructor frowned.
For a brief moment, he had forgotten who Wilder was and how he behaved, so he went into a sort of rant.
"I can't let you into my class anymore," the instructor told Wilder.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Wilder said as he pulled out a long sword and swung at the instructor, cutting his head clean off.
Or at least that was what he wished he could do at that moment.
But he couldn't just do that.
"Fine," Wilder struggled to say without blowing his top.
This guy didn't even ask any questions, just because he believed that he had failed, he was kicking him out of the class. That was just too much, even for Wilder.
He then turned around and walked away.
The instructor was unreasonable, but Wilder didn't want to exchange words about his acceptance into a place where he clearly wasn't wanted.
After all, he was basically out of the second year; all he needed to do was break through to the Enhanced Human" stage, and he would be good to go.
On a normal day, Wilder wouldn't mind leaving the whole special grade nonsense; it was too much trouble anyway, but the system had given him a mission that demanded that he have a certain level of influence in the military to complete.
It was the main reason he came here in the first place, and when he woke up that morning, he received a notification.
[mission catalogue activated]
Primary mission: meet up with Arthur.
Tip: He has a deep connection with the Warhawk Academy, but he won't be easy to find.
Wilder hated the system missions; they had no context whatsoever, only instructions with no real reason, and he had no choice but to do those missions.
