After completing his trading expedition, Mike savored the remaining half of his water before venturing out once more into the dangerous, post-apocalyptic world. With the newly acquired iron in hand, he returned to his shelter, eager to put it to use.
Without hesitation, Mike summoned the manufacturing page and built an iron axe, instantly improving his efficiency at gathering resources. As he surveyed his surroundings, he couldn't help but think of ways to make his shelter more comfortable, safer, and ultimately, more conducive to his survival.
"The Doomsday Survival System evaluates the daily survival points that can be obtained based on my environment," Mike thought to himself. "I need to use these points to acquire the supplies necessary to improve my shelter and create a positive cycle."
He knew that the current stacking limit of the same item was temporarily unknown, but 20 inventory slots were more than enough for the time being. He continued to cut down trees with his iron axe, pondering ways to improve the shelter environment.
Mike soon realized that his refuge was dark, making it hard to navigate through.
So, he summoned the production page
[torch (normal)]: wood 0/1, plant fiber 0/2
[Record]: Wood-1, Plant Fiber-2
[Record]: Torch+1
Torch (Ordinary): A brand new torch that can burn for 12 hours after being ignited.
After crafting his new torch. He recorded the ingredients used and the new item, "Torch+1," in his system.
Fortunately, the game accounted for the importance of fire to human survival and didn't set any difficulty for this task. The newly lit torch burned efficiently, illuminating the shelter and making it much easier to see.
As Mike continued to use his torch, an idea suddenly struck him. He wondered if he could upgrade it to an electric bulb.
To his delight, his system presented him with an upgrade direction that would allow him to enhance the torch's brightness and durability.
[Torch (Ordinary)]
Brightness - 50
Durability - 100/100
Upgrade ditection:
Brightness upgrade: With each upgrade, the torch's brightness will increase, making it easier to see in the dark. This upgrade will require 5 survival points per upgrade.wood (0/2), plant fiber (0/3). This upgrade will result in a Torch (Bright), which emits brighter light and increases visibility in dark environments.
Durability upgrade: With each upgrade, the torch's durability will increase, allowing it to last longer and be used more times before needing to be replaced. This upgrade will also require 5 survival points per upgrade.wood (0/3), plant fiber (0/4). This upgrade will result in a Torch (Durable), which lasts longer and can burn for 24 hours.
He frowned when he saw that he had to choose between upgrading the brightness or the durability of the torch. Just then, a new upgrade direction appeared before him.
However, a third option soon presented itself
Integrated upgrade: With each upgrade in this direction, both the brightness and durability of the torch will increase. This upgrade will require 10 survival points per upgrade, as it combines the benefits of both the brightness and durability upgrades.
"Integrated upgrade? This is much more convenient," Mike exclaimed.
He chose the third upgrade direction, which combined the benefits of both the brightness and durability upgrades.
He continued to upgrade the torch, going from an ordinary torch to an enhanced torch, an advanced torch, a bulb, a high-efficiency bulb, and finally to an LED light.
[LED Light]
Brightness - 300
Durability - 300/300
Evaluation:
The [LED Light] is a highly advanced lighting tool that provides a brightness of 300, making it much brighter than a regular torch. It has a durability of 300/300, meaning it can be used for an extended period before needing repair or replacement.
Description
The highest level of upgrade for the [LED Light] provides advanced features such as high-power and battery-saving modes. The high-power mode increases the brightness to 400, while the battery-saving mode reduces the brightness to 200 but extends the battery life by 50%. This upgrade requires a total of 600 upgrade points, making it a significant investment but providing a highly valuable tool for survival in the post-apocalyptic world.
Mike was in awe. He had managed to make an LED light bulb with just some wood and plant fiber. But his excitement was short-lived when he realized that his shelter had electric connectivity but no electricity power generating source. The LED light was useless to him now.
However, Mike didn't let that dampen his spirits. He thought about upgrading his whole shelter, equipping it with technology-based equipment. Maybe there was a slight probability that he could get a solar-powered power source or a biomass generator after the upgrade.
Excited at the prospect of an advanced shelter, Mike couldn't wait to get started on the upgrades.
He knew it would be a significant investment of time and resources, but it was worth it if it meant increasing his chances of survival in the post-apocalyptic world.
