The next day, Valeria woke up due to a phone call from Dennis, she was reluctant to pick up at first but it kept ringing and disturbing her beauty sleep.
"Hello" She said sleepy
"Are you still asleep?" Dennis asked
"Yes" Valeria replied
"Past noon?" Dennis asked surprisingly
"Past noon? Really?" Valeria asked back with surprise as she sit up from the floor
"Are you sick or something?" Dennis asked knowing it was unusual
"I'm fine, just had a long night" Valeria replied rubbing her sleepy eyes
"A long night? Have you started reading for resumption?" Dennis asked knowing that's the only thing that keeps her awake at night
"No Dennis. I went to a party with my roommates" Valeria replied still rubbing her sleepy eyes
"A party? And I'm just knowing about it" Dennis said feeling sad and less important to her
"I will call you when I'm awake" Valeria said avoiding the conversation and she hang up immediately.
"Hangover?" Geraldine asked
"No mother, I didn't even drink" Valeria replied
"You are all over the internet" Geraldine said and reality hit Valeria that Esmeralda posted her picture
"I didn't know when she posted it" Valeria said
"And all those outfits were expensive when I checked" Geraldine said pointing to the cloth she hanged
"She only wanted to help" Valeria said hoping her mother isn't getting the wrong idea.
"I understand Valeria. It's tit for tat" Geraldine said looking at her daughter
"What do you mean mother?" Valeria asked knowing her mother is about to jump to a conclusion
"She dressed you up so well with all this expensive clothes and accessories then she called the EmJay brand since she's influential and told them she has a model that can help influence their clothes, they paid her and she sent your pictures to them. She didn't lose" Geraldine said as if she was there when it happened, Valeria couldn't help but laugh making Geraldine feel stupid.
"I'm sorry mother, I couldn't help but laugh" Valeria said still laughing
"What's so funny?" Geraldine asked feeling stupid
"I'm sorry mother. I want to believe I can trust you with this secret because no one can know" Valeria said looking serious
"You can tell me anything dear" Geraldine said
"Miss Esmeralda is the owner of EmJay brand" Valeria said and Geraldine gasp
"Yes mother, I'm not happy they posted my pictures without my consent but if this is a way to pay her back for the clothes she gave me yesterday and the ride then I don't mind" Valeria said smiling
"Understandable! You should call and thank her for yesterday" Geraldine said and Valeria nod
"I can see you enjoyed yourself at the party" Geraldine said
"Yes I did and it was really fun" Valeria replied and blush after remembering Benjamin.
"I will be on my way to get the last cloth I will be selling, you have the house to yourself" Geraldine said and leave the house as Valeria watch her. She dialed Esmeralda's number and she picked like she has been waiting for her to call.
"Good afternoon Miss Esmeralda" Valeria greeted
"Good afternoon Valeria. How was last night?" Esmeralda greeted back
"It was fun and thank you for the outfit and ride" Valeria said smiling
"You don't owe me anything and I'm so sorry my team posted the picture without your consent" Esmeralda said remorsefully
"No problem ma'am" Valeria replied feeling glad she said something about it before she did
"I will send your percentage to you from the deal they signed behind you" Esmeralda said
"Don't do that Miss Esmeralda, see the deal as payment for all the outfit" Valeria replied
"Are you angry? I'm truly sorry for their act, I already sacked the social media manager" Esmeralda said sadly
"You shouldn't have done that Miss Esmeralda" Valeria said not happy someone lost their job because of her
"He did things on his own accord, if it was going to cost me more damage that's how he will post it because he had nothing else to post" Esmeralda said sounding reasonable but Valeria was still not happy
"I will love it if you give him his job back" Valeria said hoping Esmeralda will accept.
"This is not his first time of making such mistakes" Esmeralda opposed
"A suspension might do Miss Esmeralda" Valeria defended and Esmeralda sigh
"I will talk to the HR, I'm not promising anything but I will have a discussion with them" Esmeralda said
"Thank you Miss Esmeralda" Valeria replied.
"Anything I need to know about last night?" Esmeralda asked excitedly
"My roommates thought I had a secret life I did not want them to know about" Valeria replied still remembering how Catherine attacked her
"Oh I'm sorry, I wished I was there to save you" Esmeralda said sadly
"Someone came to my aid" Valeria said blushing
"Is that a giggle?" Esmeralda asked
"No ma'am" Valeria replied trying to control her blush
"I can tell it's a man but who is he?" Esmeralda asked teasingly
"Benjie Baker" Valeria replied smiling
"I need the full gist but I'm pretty busy now because of you" Esmeralda said smiling
"Because of me?" Valeria asked confusedly
"Yes Valeria. Someone wants one thing or the other from your outfit and the demand is pretty high" Esmeralda replied
"Really?" Valeria asked surprisingly
"Yes Valeria, you are a born model" Esmeralda replied
"Wow! I really didn't expect it to go that far" Valeri said still surprised
"Check it out on our official page" Esmeralda said
"I will. Later then" Valeria replied and Esmeralda end the call.
Valeria opened her instagram app, the first account that popped up was EmJay's verified account and the picture was of her. She swiped on the pictures checking it out with a smile on her face, she scrolled up to check the caption which put a smile on her face [A born model graced our brand with her beautiful face and body!#ValeriaXEmJay #newmodel]. The caption made her smile and she clicked on the comment where her smile disappeared and reappeared many times. Hateful and sweet comments were in the comment section and only one caught her attention out of all the sweet comments, it was from a certain @benjiebaker [A born star! Beautiful in and out]. A smile form on her face, she liked the comment and all other hate comments were looking sweet to her. She was still reading comments when instagram notification popped up on her screen.
"He followed me?" Valeria looked at the notification in shock, it was from Benjie Baker. She was still contemplating whether to follow back or not when his message popped up, she opened the message to see the content. [Hi born model]. A smile form on her face, she clicked the reply button when a call entered her phone, it was from Dennis.
"Hello" Valeria greeted
"You said you will call back once you are awake" Dennis said slightly angry
"Oh yeah! I was busy" Valeria replied
"Busy? Busy modelling? Busy going to parties I didn't know of? Busy avoiding me? Busy with what again?" Dennis asked with rage
"You need to keep your cool Dennis" Valeria said calmly
"Keep my cool you say? You've been avoiding me since the last time we saw" Dennis replied angrily
"I'm not avoiding you, you are not ready to talk to me about Shelby" Valeria said getting angry too
"Shelby! Shelby!! Shelby!!! What is it about this girl?" Dennis shouted angrily
"I really don't want to start stating facts you can see" Valeria replied calmly
"Is it Shelby that asked you to go to a party without telling me? Did she ask you to go into modelling without letting me know? Stop screaming Shelby when you are the guilty one here!" Dennis said with more anger
"If you calm your nerves then you will hear every little detail if not then please let's end this call here" Valeria said not having the strength to fight back or shout at him as much as she wanted to.
"Avoiding conversations again. How do you want our relationship to work if you are keep secrets from me?" Dennis said angrily
"That question should be for you Dennis! Who is Shelby to you? Why was she stalking you? What does she want? You left me to be on my own just so you can have this same conversation you are avoiding with her. I won't even be angry if at all you two are in a relationship, it's bound to happen in a long distance relationship. I will understand Dennis, I will understand." Valeria shouted angrily
"Let's just have a sane conversation without all this shout, rage and anger" Valeria said now calm
"How did you become a model for such a big clothing brand without me knowing?" Dennis asked now calm
"My roommate called and asked me to come to her parents anniversary, a friend of mine, older than I am offered to dress me up, she gave me the outfits and took the pictures. She works at the clothing line, she sent it to the social media manager and he posted it without my consent" Valeria explained leaving details out but still saying the truth.
"I'm sorry for concluding, I only felt less important knowing you will let me know about anything before doing it" Dennis said feeling remorse
"It's fine" Valeria replied hoping he will say what she wanted to hear
"My girlfriend is a born model" Dennis said and Valeria smile even if it's not what she wanted to hear. They talked for a while before ending the call. After the call with Dennis, she became hungry and forgot about texting Benjie Baker back.
