"I always knew my sister-in-law is the best," Leif said as he walked to Eve and bowed.
"Thank you, Your Highness," he greeted.
"Good to have you back, Lord Leif," Eve bowed to him too. Merida and Magdalene returned to the room, and leaning on Merida was a man who was hardly recognizable with all the marks and dried blood on his face and body. He had been soaked in the tub to get rid of the horrible smell he reeked of. Merida's eyes were red and puffy, traces of fresh tears smeared her cheeks as she helped him walk.
Eve walked to meet them, looking at the man's grey eyes that still looked vibrant despite his appearance.
"Thank you, Your Highness," his voice was parched and barely audible. Eve nodded, looking at the man's strong gaze. Somehow, she believed Earl hadn't just imprisoned him because of Merida but also because of the throne.
