Eve continued to walk through the stony ground, watching her steps carefully as she remained alert to her surroundings. If she got the timing right, she had been walking for the past thirty minutes and still met with no attack. She looked behind her again. Was it possible that they had all gone after Sebastian?
The sun radiated with more heat, and she pulled away the scarf around her neck. Walking further, she tripped and fell on the rough ground. She winced and pushed herself up, looking at the root in the ground that made her trip.
The route she followed was a stony path, and Sebastian was the one who followed the trees. How come there was a root without trees around? Eve thought as she brushed her palms together and cleaned her dress.
She heard a snap behind her and turned quickly, for dust to be blown at her face, hindering her sight. She staggered back while cleaning her face to get rid of the dust.
