"M-my feet?" Eve repeated and moved two steps backwards making Sebastian chuckle lightly. The human was like his mother. Simple, sweet, innocent but she was braver.
He could still feel the fire that clawed his heart when he was handed his mother ashes. They didn't only deny her treatment, they denied her a better rest also. That day, he turned to his father who stood with a grim face, he could see the guilt look but it was too late.
His hands tightened on the clay pot as he stared at it, his long black hair fell over his face blocking the bystanders gaze from seeing the young vampire's grief. Suddenly, he moved towards the man who stood beside the King and his right hand clawed into his chest.
'W-what are you doing Seb?' His father questioned in shook. The onlookers gasped looking at him and the Minister. The minister spat out blood, his eyes turning blood shot red feeling his heart in Sebastian's grasp.
'P-please,' He pleaded, wondering what he did to suffer this. Sebastian continued to look at him, his other hand outstretched to the side to keep the pot safe. It was because of this man he had come back late and not seen his mother at her last hours, he was the one who kept sending him to check the towns even after most of the humans retreated.
'Sebastian let him go,' The King ordered with his authority and his son turned to him. The fire in his eyes caused him to gulp yet he maintained his stoic face. How did Roselani's quiet son become such a fearful man?
Sebastian did let go of the minister, but not his heart. He ripped it out with the blood splattering on him and the King.
'Sebastian!' The King's voice bellowed. The young vampire glanced at his father before walking away leaving the bewildered people. He went around the castle to the garden, he bent down and used his bare hands to dig the ground, before burying the pot under, he covered it with the sand and stayed there, wallowing in his grief.
He heard the footsteps behind him and he turned, it was Leif, his step brother who was only eighteen, he had three guards who stood behind him.
'The King asked the guards to lock you up in the dungeon,' Leif said lowering his gaze before the ground Sebastian knelt
Sebastian turned back to the little heap of sand before he stood up and start to walk away and the guards followed quickly. Leif stood watching the ground before calling to his brother before he could walk away completely.
'I will help you get the ones who killed her.'
Sebastian stiffened at his words and he turned, 'What did you say?' He questioned, his eyes blazing with unmatched fire as he walked back to Leif. The guards draw the swords and blocked his path lest he harmed the young prince.
'Let him.' Leif said and they turned to look at him. "I'll take him to the dungeon myself, you can leave." They sheathed their swords and bowed before walking away.
He met Sebastian's gaze as he replied, 'I only found out last night after you left, that she was being poisoned.' Pulling out a small bottle from his pockets, he showed it to him.
'I tried to search for the antidote but none of the doctors knew what was used to make the poison.'
Sebastian fisted his palm, all this years, he had believed his mother was suffering from a natural illness. They weren't satisfied with stripping her off her title but also, slowly sucked her living essence. He collected the bottle and smashed it in his hands and the black liquid burned his palm, a faint pain of what his mother had passed through silently.
His heart burned in rage and uncontrollable urge for revenge. The woman who held his leash was gone and the fire was set ablaze in his heart. When he was released from the dungeon the next day, he went after the three Ministers and two family members who had caused his mother pain. One after the other, he found them and ripped their heads or hearts out and he buried them in the garden. Though Leif didn't say it, Sebastian knew they was one more person involved, one he purposefully left for the future.
Most of the times, he do think he had served his mother's murderers a much quicker death. He could have make them suffer more. Shifting his red eyes to a portion of the garden, he smiled seeing the different coloured roses that had grown over where his mother's ashes was buried.
"I'm sorry for the pain you had gone through," Eve apologized.
"Why apologize when you have nothing to do with what happened centuries ago," He said before starting to walk again.
"The sinners have paid with their lives and I feel more than proud to have been her son when I tore their hearts out." His lips stretched into a smile, hearing Eve's heart skipped with his words.
"The King was also killed years after her death. I do wonder if I wished I was the one to have taken his life at the time."
Eve didn't understand the man, she knew his mother's death could have gave rise to the man he was now but she had start to wonder if he had always been like this from birth but had kept his true self hidden.
He suddenly stopped walking and turned making her step back a little.
"Are you scared of me, Eve?" He asked.
Was she? Eve questioned herself. He had just talked about his pride after killing someone and she had also seen how scary and heartless he could be.
"I don't know," she muttered a reply and he walked towards her.
"You don't have to be scared of me. Your innocent self have caught my heart's attention and you wouldn't be hurt," he softly said, staring into her brown vibrant eyes.
She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out and she closed it back looking away from him.
"You don't have to be shy. Speak."
"W-what can I say?" She whispered, his confessions always have her tongue-tied.
"That you love me too," Sebastian said, too seriously, and her hand moved to cover her mouth as she coughed lightly and looked away.
Sebastian found her action funny and he chuckled. When she start to walk again, the hem of her dress got trapped in the bushes and the thorns from the flowers tear into her skin causing her to wince.
"You okay?" Sebastian asked and she nodded, crouching to remove her dress from the bushes and pressed her finger on the cut. The tear in her skin start to bleed and he caught the whiff scent of it.
"I am still a vampire. One who is always hungry for blood," he said and she stood straight. Right! He could smell the blood.
He pulled her by her hand and stepped inside the castle, walking into the nearest corridor and he stepped into the first room.
"What are we doing here?" Eve asked, looking around the small room that had a bed, a desk and chair with nothing else.
"To get you treated." He replied nonchalantly, Eve could have protested as it was a minor cut but she knew the blood was affecting him. He made her sit on the bed and he crouched down in front of her and took hold of her leg and bring it up to place it on his leg.
"Ah! I can do it myself," Eve quickly said but he ignored her and raised the end of her dress up her legs. She quickly pulled her dress down, her cheeks reddening when he looked up at her.
"Y-you d-don't have to bother, your Highness," Sebastian note the respectful tone she used in talking to him and he narrowed his eyes.
When she raised her hand again to stop him from revealing her legs, he glared at her.
"Don't." The authority from the single word he whispered caused her hands to drop on the bed. She bit her inner cheek as she submitted to him opening her dress.
Sebastian let her dress to rest on her knee and he stared at the two bloody lines below her knee that was trailing slowly from her cut. When he looked up at her, she turned her gaze while wondering how he was going to treat as he had claimed without the first aid box present in the room.
He used two of his fingers to wipe the blood and put it in his mouth to lick it clean, giving her a faint idea of his treatment.
Her eyes widened and she made to pull her leg but he wrapped his fingers around her ankle and brought his face down to her leg and licked her blood.
