Chapter 21 - Oath{21}

The night was unusually still, and a blood moon hung in the skies, casting an ominous glow upon the land. Samaelia and Seraphine knew that this was a sign, a call for them to fulfill the blood oath that would bind them for eternity, just as they had in their past lives.

Seraphine had warned Samaelia that the oath was something sacred and Samuel could not accompany her for it.

She relayed the warning to Samuel, who reassured her that he would not follow her.

Unbeknownst to her, Samuel, wished to accompany her on this perilous journey. Samuel possessed unique powers of his own and believed he could provide extra protection during the ritual. However, unknown forces, unbeknownst to him or Samaelia, had different plans.

As Samuel approached Samaelia and Seraphine on the dark path, a powerful invisible force suddenly pulled him back, away from his friend. He fought desperately, struggling against the unseen bonds that held him captive. But with each attempt, an eerie coldness washed over his soul, weakening his strength.

While Samuel fought his invisible captors, Samaelia and Seraphine continued onward, unaware of his plight. The Silver River beckoned them with its ethereal glow, and they could feel the magic coursing through the air. The time had come for them to perform the ancient blood oath that would forge an unbreakable bond between them.

As they reached the riverbank, Samaelia could feel the presence of her past lives. Memories flooded her mind, whispering tales of ancient rituals performed by her ancestors. She reached out for the ceremonial dagger that suddenly emerged from the water, its silver surface glinting in the moonlight.

The air was heavy, and the atmosphere was thick with an unspoken darkness. Samaelia couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and unease, knowing that the ritual would forever connect her to Seraphine.

As Samuel fought, a bone-chilling aura surrounded him, sending shivers down his spine. The forces seemed to have an ancient power, a profound darkness that threatened to consume his very soul. The battle with the invisible forces became increasingly fierce, draining Samuel's energy. Eventually, overwhelmed by the eerie coldness, Samuel lost consciousness.

Meanwhile, Samaelia stared at the dagger and then at the river, a place where the boundaries between realms were said to be thin. An ancient power slithered into her body, taking hold of her mind. A sense of both anticipation and apprehension filled her as she began the ritual. Under the blood moon's watchful gaze, Samaelia recited the ancient incantations that would bind her and Seraphine together for eternity, just as they had been bound in their past lives.

Suddenly, a burst of radiant energy erupted from the depths of the river, surrounding Seraph's serpentine form. The python's scales glistened, shifting and transforming into smooth, flawless skin. Seraphine's body elongated and contorted until it molded into the silhouette of a stunning, rare beauty. In a breathtaking display of magic, Seraphine emerged from her reptilian form, now a captivating girl donned in a red dress that clung to her seductive figure. Her fiery hair cascaded around her, and her deep red eyes blazed with a newfound vitality.

Samaelia's heart soared at the sight of her beloved guardian's incredible transformation. She gazed into the eyes of the girl before her, recognizing the familiar soul that had walked alongside her in countless past lives. The blood oath had been fulfilled, and the bond between Seraphine and Samaelia was solidified for eternity.

Back at the edge of the enchanted forest, Samuel awoke hours later, his body weak but his determination resolute. Realizing that he had been separated from Samaelia, he quickly composed himself and set off in the direction he knew she had gone.

As he navigated through the twisted trees and mystical shadows, Samuel could feel the remnants of the dark energy that had knocked him unconscious. The mysterious forces, now weakened, allowed him to pass unimpeded.

Eventually, Samuel arrived at the silver river, the air still heavy with a potent energy. There, he found Samaelia, her eyes glowing with an iridescent light.

Relieved, Samuel tried to embraced his friend, grateful that they had both emerged unharmed from the ordeal. Samaelia's eyes shimmered with gratitude as she expressed her appreciation for Samuel's loyalty, unaware of the battle he had fought on her behalf. Their physical forms almost in contact when a fair soft palm with red nails smacked his face lightly, throwing him a few feet from where he initially stood.

"You are not to touch mistress" came Seraphine's cold voice with an indifferent look on her face.

"It's fine, he can at least give me a hug if I say so, right?" Samaelia asked with a playful look in her eyes

"He can't. Master would kill him" Seraphine replied her with a soft tone of voice.

"What master are you talking about?" Samaelia asked with a suspicious tone but Saraphine left the question unanswered, making the atmosphere turn slightly awkward.

Samuel came back with a glare on his face, his displeasure almost palpable.

"It wouldn't kill you to a little nice you know" he grumbled under his breath. "Let's just go home, I'm tired" silently, they all agreed on leaving and thus started their journey back.

As they made their way back through the enchanted forest, the blood moon slowly faded, giving way to morning's light. The dark and still night had offered them a glimpse into the power of ancient oaths and the forces that could control time and space.
