Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Chu Crow

"You told me it was already healed, what's going on?" Guo Wei saw Yang Juan's expression and knew that what Chu Yi said was correct. At the same time, he also secretly wondered if his master still needed medical treatment.

Yang Juan couldn't hide it anymore and sighed, "I'm a doctor, how could I not know my own condition? It's an old illness that can't be cured for a long time. Don't worry about it."

"But Chu Yi, how did you figure it out? My foot only had a minor flare-up today and I can still bear the pain," she asked.

Chu Yi observed very carefully. He noticed something wrong with Yang Juan's walking earlier and then used the "Observing Qi Technique" to discover her old injury on her foot.

"You're not experiencing just minor pain. If I'm right, you should feel like needles are pricking your foot especially at night which is unbearable for most people," Chu Yi shook his head.

"There are blood clots blocking your circulation causing cold hands and feet."

"If left untreated for another year or two, you won't be able to walk properly again."

She was originally a surgeon who now works as a guest professor at Jiujang University so she knows her own condition well enough.

But at this moment, she didn't care about all of these things because the young man in front of her surprised her too much.

He figured out everything with just one glance; even Guo Wei didn't tell him anything about it.

"I won't be able to walk properly again? Why didn't you say so earlier!" Guo Wei panicked.

"It wouldn't have made any difference if we knew earlier since there wasn't anything we could do except panic," Yang Juan showed off her domineering side.

"Okay okay let's not talk about this today. This is how my injury is. You guys can chat while I go cook," Yang Juan said.

Guo Wei was anxious and asked, "Master, since you can see it, do you have a way to treat it?"

Yang Juan has already seen many famous doctors both in Chinese and Western medicine but the injury had been there for too long that it couldn't be cured anymore. Considering her age now, surgery wasn't suitable either so she just kept delaying treatment.

Upon hearing this, Yang Juan just smiled and shook her head. Many famous doctors could also see her condition at first glance but when it comes to treatment they were powerless.

"Dr. Chu Yi, don't listen to this old man's nonsense..."

Through their conversation earlier on, Yang Juan knew that Chu Yi was an intern teacher at Sanzhong High School who didn't know anything about medical skills which made things difficult for him.

"This illness is actually not difficult to cure." Chu Yi spoke up; he admired Yang Juan quite a bit.

It takes great courage to become a field doctor. Not only was Guo Wei his disciple but even with just this identity alone he felt compelled to help out.

"You really don't have to..." Yang Juan hesitated for a moment.

"Don't you trust me? Don't you trust my master?" Although Guo Wei also had some concerns initially, what Chu Yi showed before was extraordinary which made him believe in his abilities more than others'.

"Okay okay fine then let Chu Yi take a look," Yang Juan laughed helplessly as she sat down and revealed her ankle which looked purple and swollen indicating its severity.

"It's a small matter." Chu Yi squatted down and gently pinched Yang Juan's ankle. He used a simplified version of a Tai Chi technique.

A little bit of spiritual energy flowed slowly into her body like water.

Yang Juan was an authority in this field, so she couldn't help but feel skeptical when Chu Yi boasted. But the next second, she widened her eyes.

She had been to the best Chinese massage therapists before, but they were no match for Chu Yi's techniques.

That hand seemed to have magical powers. With gentle and firm kneading, Yang Juan felt warmth where there was once pain. The purplish-red swelling visibly subsided at an astonishing speed, and even her complexion became rosy again.

Yang Juan looked at Chu Yi incredulously. What could be more shocking than seeing it with your own eyes?

Thinking back on her previous attitude towards him made her feel embarrassed even though she was already old.

"Xiao Chu... Teacher Chu, what kind of technique is this?" Yang Juan unconsciously changed how she addressed him because just that one move alone would make him an expert if he taught it elsewhere.

"It's just a Tai Chi move that can be modified slightly for use in massage."

Chu Yi stopped his movements and smiled. "The congestion inside has mostly cleared up now. Have Guo Lao give you massages every day for a month and everything will be fine."

"Guo Lao, remember my technique from earlier? Just combine it with 'Eight Trigrams Mind Method.'"

"Yes, Master." Guo Wei was excited as he turned to look at his old partner triumphantly. "See? I told you my master wasn't someone to underestimate!"

"You always thought Tai Chi was useless before; now we're relying on it," retorted Yang Juan who couldn't refute anymore this time around.

"Teacher Chu, thank you so much this time. With your talent, you're being underutilized at Third Middle School. Why not come to the university where I work?"

"What's wrong with Third Middle School?! Old lady, don't try to poach people in front of me."

Watching this bickering old couple, Chu Yi felt great.

...

After a meal, Guo Wei insisted on kneeling down and offering tea as a sign of respect. For him, the previous ceremony when he became Chu Yi's disciple by the river was too simple.

At that moment, a youthful and beautiful figure pushed open the door.

"Offering tea? What kind of offering tea is this? Grandpa, are you taking on an apprentice?"

Chu Yi sat in his chair and looked past Guo Wei's body towards the doorway. He had an instant feeling of amazement.

The young girl was full of vitality; her short hair didn't diminish her beauty but instead highlighted her delicate features.

She was wearing the uniform of Sanzhong School, but looked like a model with her tall and slender figure, agile movements, and easily able to jump into someone's heart.

But now Chu Yi was more "surprised" than "stunning".

The person who came was his student, Guo Feifei. He never thought that Guo Feifei would be the granddaughter of Guo Wei.

"Chu Laoshi." Guo Feifei also widened her eyes in confusion.

"Chu Laoshi?" Guo Wei suddenly realized, "I heard that your class teacher is an intern teacher. I didn't expect it to be you as my master."

Chu Yi had a black line on his face. He could hear clearly that Guo Feifei called him Chu Lao Shi instead of Chu Lao Si (honest). Previously, Chu Yi had been teased by his students for a month without any signs of anger. So privately they all called him Chu Lao Si (honest).

Guo Wei naturally did not know what happened and laughed: "It's fate! It's really fate! Come over here quickly, let's have tea together with Master Chu."

What master?

Tea ceremony?

Guo Feifei was dumbfounded and looked at Chu Yi incredulously. This teacher who she bullied has become her grandfather's master?

What kind of situation is this!

"Grandpa, don't be fooled by him. He is just an ordinary teacher. What qualifications does he have to be your master?" Guo Feifei glared fiercely at Chu Yi.

"Nonsense! You don't understand anything! Apologize!" In Guo Wei's eyes, Chu Yi was a superior person who could teach his granddaughter; it was her blessing.

Guo Wei only had one granddaughter in the family whom he doted on since childhood; even when facing criticism, she was not afraid and instead bared her teeth at Chu Yi: "You liar! How did you fool my grandpa? Grandma, why aren't you stopping him?"

Chu Yi found it funny. Many of the things that Guo Feifei had done to "bully" him in class were actually just pranks. He couldn't help but smile: "Guo Feifei, school is about to start soon. Have you finished your summer homework? I remember leaving ten papers for you. If there's anything you don't understand, bring them to me now."

Homework?

Guo Feifei was dumbfounded; how could she care about homework? But in front of her grandfather, she couldn't say that.

"You...you..." She stuttered and felt that this young intern teacher was becoming more and more annoying.

"Ahem! Grandpa grandma, I suddenly remembered my dad has something for me to do so I have to go." After speaking, she planned on escaping.

Chu Yi loudly said: "Guo Feifei student, I see that your forehead is dark today and it's not suitable for going out now. You should stay here a little longer."

Hearing this made Guo Feifei run even faster; she didn't want her grandfather scolding her.

But unexpectedly when passing through the threshold without paying attention, she tripped over it with a loud bang and fell down hard.

In pain but still concerned about her appearance first thing after falling down; she quickly opened up the front camera on her phone.

As expected by looking at herself in the camera lens - there was dirt on her forehead which made it look blackened like a crow's feather!

"Crow mouth! Chu Crow!" Guo Feifei wanted to cry but no tears came out.

Yang Juan just smiled upon seeing this situation while standing next to her.

But Guo Wei, who was standing on the side, had more thoughts. He looked at Chu Yi with awe.

His own master could do Tai Chi and treat illnesses; could he also tell fortunes?
