Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Accepting a Disciple

Although Chu Yi was a teacher at Sanzhong, he was still part of the secular world. His students did not need to perform the ceremony of accepting him as their master.

However, the situation in front of him was different. He could see that Principal Guo did not possess inner strength due to his lack of knowledge in heart techniques.

The human body has great potential, but it is limited by various factors and few people can break through these limitations and enter into the realm beyond innate abilities. Heart techniques are related to an inheritance within a sect or clan.

These techniques cannot be passed on outside of the sect or clan!

Especially for immortal clans, they have even stricter rules.

For example, Chu Yi's current practice of "Tai Chi Heart Technique" is not accessible to ordinary Tai Chi disciples. Core disciples must pass multiple assessments and take oaths before being granted access.

Of course, Principal Guo's aptitude was poor so even if Chu Yi were willing to accept him as his disciple, he would choose simplified versions instead since this matter was too important.

Seeing Chu Yi hesitate made Principal Guo anxious. He had no other wishes left in life except for wanting to witness higher realms before passing away.

Fame and power were just fleeting clouds after all.

Principal Guo wasn't ignorant either; with his status he knew there existed another underground world where almost everyone possessed extraordinary skills which he had witnessed himself before - breaking trees with fists or blocking iron hammers with their bodies - things that ordinary people couldn't imagine doing!

But having seen several experts didn't compare to the shock brought upon by this young man standing right in front of him now.

"Sir, please fulfill my wish," said Principal Guo as he prepared to kneel down immediately.

Chu Yi felt uneasy about this situation because if anyone from school saw them like this then it would be difficult for him to stay.

"Principal Guo, you're putting me in a difficult position. I'm just a junior and can't accept such a grand gesture."

Quickly reacting, Chu Yi extended his hand and used soft energy to support Principal Guo's body.

This made Principal Guo even more amazed as he knew that he had encountered an extraordinary expert. If he missed this opportunity then it would be regretful for the rest of his life.

Chu Yi wasn't unwilling to take on disciples due to his status; it was just that in his past life, he respected this old principal greatly. However, now things were different and somewhat awkward.

"Well then, I'll accept you as my named disciple. If you can reach the realm beyond innate abilities during your lifetime then I will officially accept you as my disciple."

The realm beyond innate abilities referred to the state of being born with exceptional skills but Chu Yi shook his head inwardly because Principal Guo was already advanced in age and without any spirit medicine treatment it would be difficult for him to achieve such a level.

Master, please accept this disciple's bow." This time, Principal Guo knelt down respectfully and knocked his head three times on the ground. Chu Yi also followed suit without hesitation.

In martial arts, respecting one's teacher is extremely important. Therefore, Principal Guo did not care about Chu Yi's age at all. On the contrary, he was very excited because he had personally witnessed his master's demeanor as a martial arts grandmaster.

What is a grandmaster?

One person can withstand ten thousand enemies!

Founding a school and ignoring worldly affairs!

In the secular world, there are five stages to classify postnatal realm: warrior apprentice (wutu), warrior (wushi), great warrior (dawushi), general (wujiang) and grandmaster (zongshi).

Of course, with Principal Guo's qualifications, he had only heard of such people but never met them.

"Master, may I know your name?" Principal Guo suddenly realized that he was feeling embarrassed in front of an old man who was over seventy years old.

"My surname is Chu and my given name is Yi. But you don't have to call me 'Master'. It wouldn't be good if others hear it. Just call me Teacher Chu instead. And you can call me Old Guo," said Chu Yi wisely since he knew they were still on Earth and using their previous titles might cause trouble.

Unexpectedly, Principal Guo blew his beard and stared wide-eyed: "No way! This is a rule left by our ancestors."

He was stubborn by nature and believed that Chu Yi was his master now.

At his age when both parents were gone already , the word "teacher" became everything for him .

Chu Yi couldn't help but feel a headache coming on; all he could do was compromise: "Okay then...you can call me that privately but not in front of outsiders."

"Yes Master," the old man said sternly.

Chu Yi continued, "My martial arts school is called Tai Chi Sect. You don't need to know where it is for now. If you have the fate to enter the innate realm, you will find it."

"The core of my Tai Chi Sect's martial arts is Tai Chi itself."

"I see that your qi and blood are insufficient due to your age, but because of your character, you have a strong sense of righteousness. I have a heart technique here that suits you perfectly."

What Chu Yi took out was not the core "Tai Chi Heart Technique", but rather the "Eight Trigrams Heart Technique".

This heart technique was gentle and easy to learn although progress might be slow; it was still most suitable for President Guo.

Chu Yi lightly tapped his finger on Principal Guo's forehead and suddenly he received many pieces of information in his mind.

"This...this..." He exclaimed in shock, "Divine soul transmission! It's incredible!"

Before this moment, he had only thought that Chu Yi's behavior was just one aspect of advanced martial arts. But now with this move alone , Chu Yi had completely overturned his worldview after living for over seventy years .

He felt that his young master became even more mysterious than before.

After digesting some information, Principal Guo became even more respectful towards Chu Yi.

In his heart, Chu Yi was already a recluse. Coming here to teach was probably just a way for him to gain experience.

Afterwards, Guo Wei invited Chu Yi to his home for dinner. After all, it was the day he became his disciple and he couldn't let Chu Yi leave like that.

Guo Wei lived in the suburbs not far from Third Middle School. The place wasn't luxurious but had a courtyard and was quite peaceful.

"It's usually just my wife and I living here. Both of our children are busy people who can only come home a few times a year." Guo Wei's eyes showed some loneliness but when it came to his two children, he was still very proud.

Chu Yi naturally knew that this new disciple of his wasn't simple in Jiujiang City.

His eldest daughter, Guo Xixue, is the chairman of the only five-star hotel in Jiujiang City.

His son, Guo Panlei, is the director of public security bureau in downtown area.

In addition to teaching at Third Middle School for decades and having trained many leaders and wealthy people now with high reputation himself even mentioning Third Middle School would make Fan Hong hesitate before detaining Chu Yi and others altogether.

"Master, my wife has gone out shopping for groceries but she should be back soon. Stay behind and taste her cooking," said Guo Wei as soon as they arrived at their house.

Just then there came a voice from outside: "Old Guo! Do you have someone visiting?"

The person who came was Yang Juan - also known as Dr Yang - who happened to be Guo Wei's wife too.

"He's not my student; he's actually my newly acquired master," replied Guo Wei somewhat annoyed by how casually Yang Juan spoke about him without knowing what really happened between them.

"Master?" Yang Juan looked at the young man before her with a strange expression. She knew her husband well and he had never taken anyone as his disciple before, but then again not many people were qualified to be his teacher either.

This old man was really stubborn. Chu Yi said: "You must be Dr Yang. Mr Guo saw that I know some Tai Chi so he took me as his master, but we can each mind our own business. You can call me Xiao Chu."

Yang Juan finally understood what was going on.

She knew her husband had been obsessed with Tai Chi all his life, but she never expected such a scene today - an old man taking a young man as his master! It seemed the older one got, the more childish they became.

"Xiao Chu, sorry for troubling you," said Yang Juan without much concern since they were getting old anyway.

"What do women know?" Guo Wei could tell that his wife didn't understand anything at all.

"This is your first time here; stay for dinner." Yang Juan went straight to the kitchen after speaking.

Chu Yi stared at her ankle and said: "Dr Yang, have you injured your ankle?"

Yang Juan was surprised by this question because she walked normally and wondered how he could tell?

When she was young, she worked as a field doctor in war zones where conditions were harsh. Once she walked barefooted in snow-covered terrain for over ten kilometers which caused pain in her ankles every few weeks ever since then especially when aging made it worse.

Sometimes only acupuncture needles would help relieve the pain even though she herself is also a doctor who couldn't cure her own chronic injury.

She kept this secret from everyone including family members until now when it was revealed by someone much younger than herself.
