"I saw that, what was that?" Krissy was staring daggers at Angelo, arms folded and ready to interrogate him for something he's been doing his best to hide from her and all pack members. Everything had been going according to plan until Max showed up again asking him things he wasn't interesting in telling him especially knowingwhathe knew. "Why do you let him talk to you like that?" she was livid and she's been itching to ask him that for the longest time but Angelo wasn't ready to tell her anything, and Max had been threatening him not to tell anyone, like he would. This was the first time that they got caught which is probably why Krissy was fuming.
Krissy had noticed the way Angelo would flinch, and stay away from Max, which infuriated her even more because of how delicate her friend was. He may have been given the 'Alpha' position but she knew exactly how her friend felt about the responsibilities. It wasn't because it was too much for him which is true but it made him even lonelier than he already was; it made him painfully aware that he hadn't found his mate yet, it was something the two friends have been looking forward to when they turned of age but it's been 6 years since then. Krissy wanted to know what Max was doing to her friend and she vowed to find out one way or the other, the man was supposed to be Angelo's brother-in law and second in command but their relationship seemed worse than before.
"Let it go Kris" she scowled at Angelo, an eyebrow raised, seeing the omega throw in the big doe eyes and pink pouty lips. He really knew how to use that weapon, knowing the warrior could never deny him his
Kristie Lander was Angelo's best friend, they had known each other for the longest in the pack, although the whole pack was like family they relied a lot on each other. Angelo would have preferred her as his beta but being an omega leader even if he proved himself to the pack, they prefer there to be a 'dominant' by his side, something he realized no matter how progressed people become, there are some things that will still hold back.
"Fine, but this isn't over" Angelo knew exactly what she meant by that. She wasn't the best tracker for nothing, once something was on her sight she became a dog with a bone so Angelo sighed instead encouraging his friend to accompany him for ice-cream. They walked to the front taking the stairs, passing pack members on the way.
"Hi Gelo" came a cute voice from one of the young pups playing outside the pack house. Lily was the sweetest little girl you could want, she went running to the omega as soon as she saw him, making the omega in Angelo extremely happy. Angelo picked her up and started walking with her in his arms, she waved at the ladies when he saw one woman coming towards him.
"I'm so sorry Angelo, she just disappeared from me, the next minute, I didn't know she was gonna come to you and disturb you, I'm sorry" all the while the little girl was holding tighter to the little omega boy, especially when the mother suggested Lily go back with her.
"It's okay Kensi, you know I love the kids especially Lily here who is my favourite, don't tell the others" Angelo hugged the little girl even closer as she was spotting the cutest smile ever. The little girl refused to leave with her mom, fussing and tugging on Angelo's clothes so the omega asked the mom to let him watch over Lily for the remainder of the day, especially seeing how tired she looked and given she and her mate haven't had some alone time. Thankfully Kensi saw the benefits and without wanting to argue with the lovely boy she agreed to with a promise to drop off Lily after their time together then they all went their separate ways.
The boy was an omega after all even if he was leading an entire pack, everything he did you could tell how delicate he really was and he loved children which in turn made the pups adore him just as much. The pack respected him and his father even more hence he was given the pack to lead. Everyone was still a little worried for him but given he was a strong omega, they expected him to have a strong mate as well especially because the last five years it seemed he grew into himself
The two were going for ice-cream like they usually do whenever they feel the need to distress from their duties. Thanks to Angelo's parents the two could do exactly that without having to worry about something happening while they were out even if it was just two streets down from the pack house.
"You worry too much Angelo" Krissy smiled at her best friend.
"What?"
"You're doing a great job with the pack, personally I'm glad you got the pack, over someone else who was seen as "fit" even if it weighs a lot on your tiny shoulders. You have me, the old alpha and luna, beta, Amelia, and Max" she ruffled her friend's hair making it messy when two tiny hands stopped her's.
"Gelo mine" she held Angelo closer to her, making the omega stick out his tongue at the dominant. The three kept walking while Krissy teased Lily about knowing Angelo first thus he belonged to her which in turn made Lily cry and Angelo had to intervene to stop the wailing. By the time they got to the little ice-cream shop Lily was happy and with a warning Krissy had stopped teasing her too.
Krissy was right, the two knew each other quite well. Krissy knew her best friend was having a hard time, knowing if the pack was doing well with a 'mateless' omega as leader, no matter how confident the omega was she knew the doubts that plagued the omega when the doors were closed.
The shop was adorned with color everywhere like paint was thrown on the wall instead of painted, it was quaint, giving you the option to either eat there or take your ice-cream and leave. Opening the door, there was a bell signaling the arrival of customers and it was cool inside compared to the outside. It was summer in Dreea, so the cool air inside the shop was worth the trip. They walked closer to the counter to find a young man working the till, Grey was an omega who was only 17 years of age. The shop was a family business of the Castillo's and because omega's were a tightly knit group everyone knew one another. They chatted a little after he took their order, said something about trying to expand the menu at the shop to include more than just ice-cream which had Angelo asking even more questions. Angelo left the counter a while after pestering Grey to where his companion was sitting.
Angelo was one of two siblings, he has a twin sister Amelia, who is the pack doctor. The siblings are omegas with no alpha siblings so when the time came to choose who will inherit the pack, Amelia had already spoken to her father to continue her medicine studies since she was an apprentice of sorts already in the pack which left Angelo as the successor even if their parents felt he was better suited since he knew how the pack works, plus they figure in the event he found his mate they could just intergrate into the pack. Amelia unlike her twin brother was, she married and mated to Max, who was the beta of the pack. The two were each other's choice mates after Amelia realized her mate died, and Max was rejected by his mate. The two started their relationship when they found out that their souls were not tied to another, they didn't have a second chance mate but were free to choose a mate.
"Thanks Kris"
The three sat inside and waiting for their ice-cream and took a coloring book for Lily to occupy herself with while the adults chat.
"You're really gonna make me stay next week?" There was a treaty in a pack a little ways from the Blue Lake in White moon territory and Angelo was supposed to take the beta with him, his dad and his old beta; the warriors were all staying except Krissy's dad to keep the pack safe with his mom. There was also going to be visitors from an African king of wolves, a day after he leaves and were supposed to stay two weeks at least before going back. Angelo wasn't looking forward to the treaty but for the visitors Angelo couldn't wait.
"You say it like I have a choice besides I trust you to guard mom and look after the pack"
"And then you'll finally find your mate there who knows" she winked.
"Sure" Angelo responded noncomittaly, making Krissy drop the topic.
The three stayed at the shop until late afternoon, giving Kensi plenty of time to rest and to spend with his mate, they took a detour to the bookstore in town. Angelo had been eyeing two books for the past two months so this morning the owner called letting him know the books arrived. They decided to pass there before going home, after all there was still time.
"Thanks Molly"
"Glad I could help, Angelo" she smiled fondly at the boy and held his hands a little longer. She retracted her hands slowly from Angelo after giving him the gift bag. They said their goodbyes and were just about to close the door to the store when there was a draft like whisper caressing his ear.
"Everything will be just fine"
