~Crystal Cove High School, California, August 8th, 2045, First Day of School, 6:00 AM~
Zemariah Stormlight groaned as she was gently shook awake in the car by her mother, Zanariah. "Remind me again why I have to go to school?" Zemariah asked dryly, brushing her purple hair behind her pointed ears. Zanariah snorted, and smirked at her daughter. "You know exactly why, Darling Daughter. Besides, your father wouldn't want you just sitting at home doing nothing, and you know that." Zanariah chided her daughter. Zemariah looked saddened at the mention of her father, Zordon. It had been 47 years since his death, but that was nothing to an Eltarian like themselves. As they pulled up to the school in their family Volvo, Zemariah could see the shimmering shroud of green magic that protected the school, thanks to Principal Axel's powers.
In a Lexus that had just pulled up to the barrier, Katherine Hillard-Oliver smiled over at Kamari, who was doodling a constellation in her notebook. "Kamari, we're here, love." She spoke up, her accent strong as ever despite years of being away from home. Kamari jumped, her brown hair bouncing as she looked up, startled. "Oh, already?" She asked, glancing around at all the cars pulling up. "I didn't even realize." Kamari laughed awkwardly, a little snort laugh sound with a whistle through her nose. Katherine chuckled. "It's alright, Luv. Come on, get your stuff together." She said gently. Kamari nodded, and dutifully put her sketchbook in her backpack. She yawned, and rubbed her brown eyes to get the last remnants of sleep out. No one was sure why the Principal had asked everyone meet so early.
Tarrick, formerly known as Void Knight, was in the driver's seat of his family's SUV, while Santaura, formerly known as Void Queen was in the passenger's seat. Amelia was accompanying her family, for her sister's first day as a junior. "You're gonna do great, little sis." Amelia smiled, ruffling Halcyon's hair causing the youngest of the family to whine, and bat Amelia's hand away, causing the Pink Ranger to laugh loudly. "Now now, Girls, don't start fighting. You should be happy, Hal. It feels like it's gonna be a good year." Santaura spoke up with a smile, and Halcyon just pouted cutely as Tarrick laughed, pulling up in between the Volvo and the Lexus.
K'Ahnia was already outside the school with her parents, Shuri and Namor. The three were speaking quietly in Xhosan. "Uya kwenza kakuhle kulo nyaka, K'Ahnia. Sikuthanda kakhulu sobabini. Ngaphezu kwayo nantoni na. Kwaye sinebhongo ngawe." Shuri said, giving her daughter a gentle smile. Namor nodded, and ruffled K'Ahnia's hair gently. K'Ahnia smiled at her mother, her ankle wings flapping nervously. Namor pulled K'Ahnia into a hug, kissing her forehead gently. He was usually stern and aloof most of the time, as K'Ahnia was his only child in his 400 plus years of living. "Teech in puksi'ik'al, k'uj' K'Ahnia. In ki'ichpam waal, Líik'en por encima de tuláakal yéetel conquista a sajkij." Namor spoke softly. K'Ahnia giggled softly. "Thank you guys. I love both of you." She said, hugging her parents tightly. "Oh, and tell Uncle Attuma that I'll play Olaball with him next time I see him!" She chirped happily to Namor, who laughed, and nodded.
Irene Garcia was also standing outside, glancing around at all the assembled students, a grand total of a whopping 2,000, 500 per grade. "I forget sometimes, just how big the school is." She commented casually to her mothers, and Izzy chuckled. "Yeah, Pine Ridge High was nowhere near as big, back when we were in school." The current/inactive Green Ranger noted. Fern nodded in agreement, wrapping her arms around Irene's shoulder. "It was only half as big, I think, from what I remember." She mused, kissing Izzy's cheek. Irene smiled. "I wish I had what you guys have. You're still so in love, even after all this time." She commented. Her mothers both smiled. "You'll find love someday, Irene." Fern promised. "But your primary focus should be on school and sports." Izzy added, and Irene pouted playfully. She was an honor roll, straight A student.
Kalani stood nervously with her mother, having always hated crowds like this. Aolani squeezed her daughter's hand gently. "You'll be okay. Principal Axel will take care of you." The elderly Hawaiian woman assured Kalani. "ʻIke wau, e Mama. He ʻino wale koʻu no kēia makahiki kula." Kalani replied softly in Hawaiian. Aolani stroked Kalani's hair gently, giving her a soft smile. "Come on, focus on the positives. You get to see Zemariah and everyone again." Aolani tried to cheer her daughter up, nodding over at the purple haired Eltarian. Kalani had a bit of a dreamy smile, before clearing her throat, and leaning against her mother, seeming content for a few moments.
Melanie was riding in a Grid Battleforce SUV, the silver GB logo shining brightly on the black car. She was in the back, and her grandfather, Adam Daniels, the former Mayor of Coral Harbor, was driving. She was playing a video game on her phone, barely listening as Adam and Devon were chatting about some new weapon Nate was building. "Mels, come on. We're here!" Devon grinned as Adam pulled up to the school. Melanie was startled out of her game, glancing up in surprise. "Time flies when you're having fun. Too bad the school doesn't have GB's simulator." She commented, glancing around nervously, before sighing in relief when she didn't see any dogs. Adam chuckled at her comment. "You're excited to see your friends again, though, aren't you?" He asked his granddaughter curiously, and she nodded with a smile. "Oh yeah. Haven't seen them in a few weeks." She replied.
Principal Axel smiled as he saw all the families gathering for his morning announcement. He did kind of hate to rouse them all so early from their slumber, but with some new changes this year, he felt it was necessary. School didn't technically start until 7:10 AM, so he had time. He walked into the auditorium, which held about 3,000 people at any given time. Crystal Cove High School was far bigger than it looked on the inside, thanks to some demigod magic. As he opened the large double doors that made one of the entrances to the school, the children and their families started streaming in, and Principal Axel watched in fascination for a moment, as it always reminded him of an ant farm. He stood by the doors, directing everyone to the auditorium, smiling, and greeting families and students he hadn't seen in several weeks.
"If you could all sit quietly and calmly in the auditorium, I have some announcements that are rather important." Alexander announced, after using a spell to amplify his voice. With that, everyone was seated, the staff in their own section, to the left of the family and students. Billy saw Katherine, and he gave her a sad smile, waving. Katherine smiled back, and waved as well. Kamari leaned into her mother's side, very obviously trying not to doze off then and there. Katherine giggled softly, and poked her daughter's shoulder to keep her awake. From a few seats down, Zemariah smirked when she saw this.
Principal Axel chuckled softly, before clearing his throat, and stepping behind the podium. "Good morning, Crystal Cove High School!" Alexander started grandly. "It's good to see your bright, smiling faces back in the auditorium." He continued, glancing around at all the children, none of whom were bright and smiling. Billy failed to cover a laugh, turning it into a snort. "To start with, I have made a few changes to the bell system. Instead of our days ending at 3:45 PM, as in the past several years, our days will now be ending at 1:35 PM, with dismissal/parent pick up being from 1:40 PM to 2:20 PM, to allow everyone to get home safer and with optimal time to allow for better homework grades."
Alexander finished his first announcement, unable to stop grinning in amusement when he noticed all of the student body looking more awake at the prospect of a shorter school day. "I will expect higher test grades and homework grades this year. I know several of you are on the honor roll..." Alexander glanced at Zemariah, K'Ahnia, Kalani, Kamari, Halcyon, Irene, Melanie, and several other students as he said this. "Make no mistake. If your grades drop below a C-, your honor roll status and your privileges that come with being an honor roll student will be revoked." Alexander warned.
The girls and several other students, about 20 or so, nodded in acknowledgement. "Now, as for my second announcement. We will be having three lunch shifts. The first shift is for the freshman, the second shift is for the sophomores, and the third shift is a combo between juniors and seniors. Instead of cramping 2,000 people in the cafeteria, the school board decided this would be easier. Before lunch, you will all report to your homeroom. The shifts are as follows." Alexander continued, before clearing his throat. "Lunch Shift A, Freshman: 10:33 AM - 10:58 AM. Lunch Shift B, Sophomore: 11:00 AM - 11:25 AM. Last but not least, Lunch Shift C, Mixed Junior/Seniors : 11:26 AM - 11:51 AM." Alexander finished. "Well that seems easy enough." Zemariah whispered to her mother in Eltarian, causing Zanariah to nudge her daughter, effectively shushing her. Zemariah rolled her eyes, but stayed silent otherwise.
Alexander smiled at the byplay, before clearing his throat. "Now, for my final announcement. We have decided to open up a branch of JROTC, here at Crystal Cove High School. For those of you who don't know, JROTC stands for Junior Reserve Officer's Training Corps. Among other things, it will help students develop patriotism, leadership, organization skills. They will meet every Thursday and Friday afternoon, from 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM. Our commanding officer is General Lissandra Elizabeth Scotts-Collins." Alexander announced, gesturing to a woman with long brunette hair that fell down to her waist.
She was wearing a United States Army Uniform, with the insignia of a five star general. She had several medals and awards pinned to her uniform as well. This was the daughter of Jennifer Scotts, Pink Time Force Ranger, and Wesley Collins, Red Time Force Ranger. She had been born in the future, but she decided to stay and live in the past with her father, an arrangement both supported. All of the students, staff, and family members clapped politely, and Katherine and Billy exchanged a surprised glance, neither having known that Jen and Wes had a daughter. Nobody noticed her subtle cringe at her full name. "I want everyone, staff and students, to treat her with the respect she deserves. I will NOT tolerate anyone insulting her or demeaning her in any way, shape, or form." Alexander warned, and everyone nodded as one.
Alexander checked his watch, and the green digital numbers read 6:50 AM. "Now, one last announcement. Members of our High School News Crew, please stand up! Zemariah Stormlight! K'Ahnia! Irene Garcia! Halcyon Jones! Kalani Kulpe! Melanie Daniels, and last but certainly not least, Kamari Kaia Oliver!" Alexander added, pointing at each girl, who, in turn, stood up as their names were called.
Kamari cringed at the use of her full name, but waved as the faculty and family cheered and applauded. "That's it for our morning announcements! Students, feel free to say goodbye to your parents, and parents, vice versa." Alexander finished his morning spiel, smiling as the staff, family, and students began clapping. "Go, Crystal Cove Dragons! The Mighty Mighty Dragons!" Alexander added, grinning as he saw several students repeating the chant. Katherine and Billy both laughed, while Zanariah smirked at the sight of the chanting students.
~August 8th, 2045, 11:22 AM, Crystal Cove Mountains~
While the students at the high school were going about their day, though Zemariah had had a bad feeling all day, evil was stirring within the mountains, a cave deep in the rocks. The entire mountains were blanketed in darkness for a good two minutes, and then there was a powerful explosion, and several balls of light appeared, before slipping into another dimension. This dimension was pure evil, filled with purple and black energy. There was an extremely massive castle, all black and white, torches filled with black fire, and spikes. The fires gave off cold, not heat. The torches lined the interior, and deep, deep into the inner sanctum, there was an empty throne, and several floating platforms at various intervals. This was Castle Void.
"AT LAST! AFTER THOUSANDS OF YEARS, WE'RE FREE!" The head of the demons, Tartarus, yelled in triumph, flaring his wings, and roaring so loud that it shook the entire castle. He stood on the tallest of the floating platforms, which were moving back and forth at random intervals. His eyes were glowing a deadly white.
The only female demon of the group, Nyx, cackled in joy, flapping her demonic wings as she stretched, letting out a satisfied moan as her joints popped. "That fucking Zordon! Did he really have to lock us up for so long?" She whined childishly, pouting. While she looked like a full grown female, she had the personality of a child, which was extremely dangerous in battle.
The second male demon grumbled, and rubbed one of his horns. He was shirtless, and wearing a form of golden armor as shorts. "Well, if it's any consolation, Nyx, I do not feel his presence anywhere on Earth, New Rafkon, or Eltar." He commented, letting out a roar. This was Erebus.
The final demon carried a long staff, and he had glowing horns and pitch black eyes. He let out a roar, and stretched, much the same as Nyx had done. "It appears our old foe has somehow been vanquished. I can't sense his life force at all." He commented. This was Thanatos, who wasn't quite so bombastic as his companions, most days, anyhow.
Tartarus snapped his fingers, and thousands of glowing balls of light appeared, and horrible shadowy creatures appeared, with horribly sharp teeth. Tartarus snapped his fingers again, and a glowing mirror sprung up, rippling with blue energy, and it allowed them to look into Time itself. The past, present, future, and it served as a gateway for them to travel to the real world. The shadowy creatures were called Voidlings, the foot soldiers of the Dark Void.
Tartarus studied the images in the mirror. Andros had just walked into the chamber containing Zordon's energy tube. "Zordon!" Andros exclaimed, dropping his hands in shock, staring at the wise old mentor. After a few minutes of conversation, Ecliptor came into the room, and he and Andros started battling. "Andros. Listen to me. It is your duty as a Power Ranger to save the universe. Now is the time." Zordon declared. "Tell my wife and daughter that I'm so sorry, and I love them." He added softly. Andros nodded, and raised his Spiral Saber, while Ecliptor cradled Astronema's dead body. "Goodbye again, Old Friend." Andros said sadly. The Kerovian swung as hard as he could, destroying Zordon and his energy tube, and releasing a wave of pure golden energy that vaporized Ecliptor, and spread throughout the universe, purifying and/or vaporizing at its discretion. The vision ended, and Tartarus crowed with laughter, the castle starting to shake as his comrades lost their footing. "Killed by one of his own Rangers! That's priceless!" He crowed, continuing to laugh hysterically.
Nyx fell on her face as the platform continued floating, all of the platforms shaking from Tartarus' laughter. "Master, please calm down!" She begged, and, sure enough, Tartarus wiped the tears from his eyes, calming down a few moments later. Erebus and Thanatos glanced at each other warily, their eyes glowing. "How shall we announce our return to the world of the living?" Erebus quickly changed the subject. Tartarus smirked to himself, cracking his knuckles. "I have the perfect idea." The Dark Void King declared. He raised his right hand, and began chanting in an ancient language, firing a ball of light into the sky. This particular spell would cause a giant, giant Fata Morgana in the shape of Castle Void.
~August 8th, 2045, 11:52 AM~
As the students were transitioning between classes, there was a shriek of terror as one random girl came in from outside. "EVERYONE! THERE'S A GIANT CASTLE IN THE SKY!" She yelled, breathing rapidly in terror, her eyes dilated. Zemariah looked stunned, and she swore in Eltarian. A lot of the group ran outside to spot the Fata Morgana, while Principal Axel was trying, unsuccessfully, to dispel it with his magic. Alexander growled, while Billy frowned in worry, crossing his arms. Billy glanced at all the gathered children. "What in the world is that, Principal?" A footballer asked, glancing at Principal Axel.
Before he could respond, K'Ahnia spoke up. "That's a Fata Morgana! I've heard of them, but I've never seen one in person!" K'Ahnia explained, tapping her Kimoyo Beads, and recording the strange sight. "Come on, those aren't real." One of the soccer boys argued. "Well, this one is." K'Ahnia snarked back. "ENOUGH!" Alexander yelled, clapping his hands together. The Fata Morgana of Castle Void still hovered ominously in the sky, Nyx's cackling echoing from the projection. Everyone shuddered collectively at the cackling. "School is over for the day. Go home, stay with your parents. And, for the love of the Gods, no one investigate this!" Alexander commanded sternly, his power radiating from him, which cowed the entire student body into silence, causing everyone to disperse accordingly.
Billy made his way through the crowd to get to Zemariah. "Zemariah, I want you to come with me. Choose 6 others. Meet me at this address." Billy said to the Eltarian, who nodded, and took the slip of paper. She spotted K'Ahnia, Kamari, Melanie, Halcyon, Irene, and Kalani. "Girls, come with me. Trust me." The Eltarian woman said softly. The six girls glanced at each other, and nodded. Zemariah took them to a rather secluded spot, and, visualizing Billy's current home, teleported the 7 of them halfway across the city, right into Billy's basement. A swirl of starlight rose up to meet the girls, and, when it vanished, they were gone.
Billy was sitting in a white chair, typing rapidly as he tapped into the surveillance systems of Angel Grove. "Wow, this place is amazing." Irene commented, not even stumbling from the teleportation. K'Ahnia whistled at the amount of tech. "Almost as impressive as Mom's lab." She agreed with Irene. Zemariah stepped out of a silver beam of starlight, while Kalani, Kamari, and Halcyon looked around curiously. Billy looked up, and smiled. "Hello, Ladies. For those of you who don't know me, my name is William Cranston, but everyone calls me Billy." Billy greeted as he stood up. "So, why'd you have Zemariah starlight teleport us here?" K'Ahnia spoke up, crossing her arms.
Billy cleared his throat. "That Fata Morgana that's hovering over the city still? That's a castle, and it's full of evil demons. I've been monitoring the seal my old mentor, Zordon, placed on the Crystal Cove Mountains." Billy explained, and Zemariah tensed in surprise. "Please, tell me that doesn't mean what I think it means." She begged. Billy adjusted his glasses, nodding. "The Dark Void has been unsealed. How, I do not know, but that's what I'm here for. Zemariah, three months ago, your father's spirit led me to find this." Billy explained, and Zemariah looked like she might start crying. However, the purple haired, purple skinned woman stayed strong and stoic.
Billy picked up a box that radiated elemental power, and it was decorated with glowing runes. "This is just crazy." Kalani commented, eyeing the box nervously. Billy opened the box, revealing several golden devices that radiated with Fire, Air, Water, Earth, Darkness, Electricity, and Sunshine energy. K'Ahnia's eyes widened in surprise. "Are those what I think they are?" She asked curiously, the scientist inside her already wondering how they were designed. "Morphers." Halcyon commented, as she and Irene looked at each other. "Yes, these are Morphers. You 7 will become the newest Power Rangers." Billy explained.
Zemariah was drawn to the Red Morpher, and she picked it up, studying it curiously. "This has Father's energy written all over it." She said softly, and Billy nodded. "Yes, that's because he was the Red Ranger, thousands of years ago." He explained, and Zemariah sighed. "I remember the stories." She murmured, attaching the Morpher to her left wrist.
It glowed an extremely bright Red, forcing everyone to cover their eyes for a moment, then it died down. "Well that was exciting." Halcyon snarked, grabbing the Pink Morpher, and strapping it to her left wrist as well, also becoming enveloped in a Pink light. K'Ahnia grabbed the Blue Morpher eagerly, strapping it to her left wrist as she too glowed a bright blue. Irene grabbed the Green Morpher, covering her eyes as she glowed a beautiful green.
Kamari snatched up the Black Morpher eagerly. "Oh hell yeah, I've been waiting my entire life for this!" She exclaimed, glowing a mix of black/purple as she strapped on her Morpher. Billy gave her a sad smile. Kalani grabbed the Yellow Morpher, and a bright yellow glow emanated from her. Finally, Melanie picked up the White Morpher, and strapped it to her wrist, and a soothing white glow filled the room.
All of the women seemed to straighten up, filled with incredible new power as they became bonded to the Morphin' Grid. Billy smiled. "Zemariah, strong, fierce, and determined. An excellent leader, you have just bonded to the powers of the Red Dragon Rising Guardians Ranger." Billy started, and Zemariah nodded stoically, rubbing her wrist. He turned to Halcyon next. "Halcyon, like your sister, you're stubborn, but compassionate and caring. You have gained the powers of the Pink Gryphon Rising Guardians Ranger." Billy continued, turning to K'Ahnia next, the mutant looking extremely eager.
"K'Ahnia. Born of fire and water, Wakanda and Talokan. An interesting combination that shouldn't work, but it does. You are now the Blue Wolf Rising Guardians Ranger. And, fun fact, I had the power of the wolf, years ago." Billy told K'Ahnia with a smile. "Wolves are my favorite animals." The mutant girl admitted, giggling. Her ankle wings flapped, filling the room with the sound of a hissing rattlesnake, something she had inherited from her father. "Irene Garcia, a sports superstar. Graceful, elegant, and agile. You have been granted the powers of the Green Hound Rising Guardians Ranger, specifically, that of a German Shepherd." Billy said gently, and Irene grinned at the thought of being a Green Ranger like her mother. "German Shepherds are my favorite type of dogs." Irene laughed.
Billy chuckled. He then turned to Kamari. "Kamari, you will become the Black Lion Rising Guardians Ranger. Spirited, full of rage at the world because of what it took from you, and extremely determined, not failing at anything you set your mind to." Billy explained gently. Kamari nodded. "You can count on me." She promised. Billy looked at Kalani, who looked nervous. "Kalani, there's no need to be so nervous. You have an inner strength inside, just begging to be released. With the powers of the Yellow Owl Rising Guardians Ranger, you can feel freer than you ever have before." He said gently.
The other girls all looked curious, wondering what Billy was referencing. Kalani nodded. "You got it." She murmured. Billy looked at Melanie, giving her a gentle smile. "Melanie, like Halcyon, Irene, Kamari, and Zemariah, you've got a legacy to live up to as well. Your best qualities, your compassion for others, your endless optimism even in the darkest of times, and your curiosity about life, make you the ideal candidate for the White Dragon Rising Guardian Ranger powers." Billy finished, before the Rangers jumped in surprise as a klaxon began blaring, and red lights began flashing through Billy's basement. Zemariah yelled in pain, clamping her pointed ears shut tightly, and K'Ahnia grimaced, clamping her hands over her own pointed ears.
Billy quickly began typing on his computer, turning the sounds and lights off as he pulled up a downtown security camera. "Ladies, your first mission begins now. The Voidlings are attacking Downtown Crystal Cove, the Starshine Mall. Upon your first Morph, you'll know everything there is to know about being a Power Ranger. How to call your weapons, and how to summon Zords." Billy declared, and all the ladies perked up at the mention of Zords. Billy noticed this, and chuckled. "It is a great experience. Now, go, Ladies! The world needs you!" Billy made a shooing motion.
Zemariah pressed the fire button on the bottom of her Morpher, and the entire team vanished in a column of harmless flames, teleporting them directly to the Starshine Mall. Zemariah, Halcyon, K'Ahnia, Irene, Kamari, Kalani, and Melanie all stepped out of the flames, all of the girls slipping into fighting stances as they saw the horrible shadow creatures. Zemariah took a few moments to assess the situation quickly, looking around at the terrified civilians. "Girls, split up, and evacuate as many civilians as you can while fighting these freakazoids!" Zemariah declared, and the girls nodded. "Right, we're on it!" Halcyon spoke up, and with that, the fight began! The seven girls split up, and Zemariah football tackled the nearest Voidling she could reach, sending it flying through one of the Mall's many benches, destroying the bench.
Zemariah yelled in surprise and pain as the shadow monster bit her shoulder hard enough to draw blood, and she punched him hard in the gut in response, knocking him off of her. "DID YOU SERIOUSLY JUST BITE ME?!" She demanded, loosing her cool for a split second as the Voidling let out an impish cackle. Zemariah growled, and cupped her hands together, firing off a beam of intense silver starlight that vaporized the Voidling, and it screeched in surprise at it was blown apart. Zemariah glared at the spot where the Voidling had stood, uttering a few Eltarian curse words that'd have Zordon washing her mouth out with soap if he were still alive. She rubbed her shoulder a bit, before going after the second closest Voidling to her. "Hey, freak! Get away from them!" She yelled, racing to protect the terrified family, throwing her hands out.
Halcyon was battling three Voidlings by herself, ducking and dodging their saber swings. One of the Voidlings cut a hole in her shirt, exposing her belly button. "Hey, that was an expensive shirt!" Halcyon complained, flipping forward and kicking the Voidling in the head, causing it to stumble, and screech in rage. "That's what you get, ya shadow bastard!" Halcyon yelled, doing a spinning roundhouse, and vaporizing the Voidling, smirking in satisfaction as it screeched in rage.
K'Ahnia was running in the air, her ankle wings flapping too fast for anyone to see. She had a Vibranium spear in her hand, like the kind her aunt Okoye used all the time, and she was swiping and slashing at Voidlings without mercy, completely obliterating them. "Haiyah!" K'Ahnia yelled, using her super strength to send her Vibranium spear flying through several Voidlings at once, obliterating them easily. The creatures didn't stand a chance at the Talokan Mutant's wrath. She swooped down to Earth, and touched down gently.
Irene was punching and kicking the Voidlings in rapid succession, keeping them away from terrified civilians. "Go go go! Get out of here!" Irene yelled, guiding a family away from the mall while protecting them from the Voidlings. Irene yelled in pain as a Voidling sliced her back with its saber, thankfully not drawing any blood, but it still hurt like hell. She cursed rapidly in Spanish as she covered the family, getting them safely out of the line of fire.
Kamari was using cheerleading flips and tumbles to take out any Voidling that dared get too close to the girl, and she sprang up, punching a Voidling in the stomach and causing it to dissipate with an angry screech of rage. "That's what you get, dweeb! No picking on innocents!" Kamari declared, doing a jumping split kick and vaporizing two Voidlings with her feet. The Voidlings were great at combat, but their biggest weakness was that they were blown apart at even the simplest attacks. "OH NO YOU DON'T!" Kamari yelled at the top of her lungs, running forward to intercept a Voidling from swiping at a kid. "Thank you thank you!" The mom said breathlessly, taking her child, and running. Kamari gave a thumbs up, and continued battling her group of Voidlings, snatching a saber from one of them.
Kalani was using her Lua skills, grappling with one of the Voidlings, before touching a spot on its neck, and causing it to drop. The normally demure demigoddess didn't like fighting, but she knew she had to. Kalani touched another Voidling, and discreetly used her inherited lightning to blow it up with a rather loud explosion. She formed two lightning boomerangs in her hand, and tossed them, carving a path through 20 Voidlings at once, watching them all explode with a sullen look on her face. She caught the boomerangs, and snapped her fingers, causing them to vanish. Kalani snuck behind another Voidling, and grabbed it in a full nelson, causing it to screech and struggle. She kicked it in between the legs, causing it to be vaporized instantly.
Melanie was zooming around at Super Speed, glowing with a red and green aura as she tore through the Voidlings easily, kicking and punching any that dared stand in her way. She stopped on a dime with a cocky smirk. "Man, these guys are wimps! I could eat them for breakfast!" She taunted, doing a few front flips, and vaporizing another Voidling with a well placed punch to the stomach, watching it vaporize into shadows.
~August 8th, 2045, 12:16 PM, Castle Void~
Tartarus roared in rage as he watched the fight, slamming his fist into the castle wall, his body glowing white as the castle responded in kind, the black torches on the wall rising higher and higher with white flames. Much like Lord Zedd, Castle Void responded empathically in kind to whatever Tartarus happened to be feeling in kind. "THOSE BRATS ARE FIGHTING BACK?! THIS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!" He screamed at the top of his lungs. Also like Lord Zedd, he had an extremely terrible temper.
Nyx, Erebus, and Thanatos all stumbled as the Castle shook with Tartarus' anger. Nyx looked at an alcove on the left wall, smirking at all the poppets she saw, flying over to one, and grabbing one that vaguely resembled a Grim Reaper of sorts. "Don't worry, Master. I have the perfect idea." She soothed Tartarus, floating down to the sanctum floor, and placing the poppet on the ground, in the large pool what had smoky mist emanating from it.
Nyx began chanting in Ancient Eltarian, as the Voids were a group of Eltarian demons who had fled to Earth thousands of years ago. The pool's water turned blood red, and Erebus, Thanatos, and Tartarus watched in fascination, having forgotten what the monster making process looked like. Nyx continued chanting, and then, at last, she clapped her hands together, creating a visible white shockwave that emanated from the pool. Nyx began cackling maniacally as a monster zoomed out of the pool, landing atop another floating platform.
~August 8th, 2045, 12:45 PM, Starshine Mall~
The girls continued battling the Voidlings, now that they had gotten all the civilians evacuated. More seemed to be popping up every second, and Zemariah tensed as she sensed something in the air. "Girls, I think we're about to have company!" She called, regrouping with her friends as the Voidlings started chattering happily. A midnight black colored portal sprang up, and the Grim Reaper monster walked out, chanting an old Eltarian nursery rhyme that had Zemariah on edge instantly. This was Scythe.
Halcyon looked nervous. "Okay, what the heck is with this guy?" She asked, shivering when she saw his giant scythe. Scythe chuckled darkly. "My name is Scythe. I'm here to kill you all on behalf of Master Tartarus." He introduced himself pleasantly, his voice sounding like he was eating gravel, causing all the girls to cringe, and K'Ahnia and Zemariah to briefly cover their more sensitive ears. Zemariah then took a fight stance, and she smirked. "Oh, I think you'll find it's not quite so easy as you think!" She declared.
The seven girls stood in a V formation, with Zemariah at the head. Halcyon was on her left side, and Irene on her right. Kamari stood on Irene's right, and Kalani was on Irene's left, while Melanie made up the point. "Girls, are you READY?" Zemariah asked, her voice echoing across the courtyard. "We're ready!" Halcyon declared, and the rest of the girls echoed her. Scythe raised an eyebrow, twirling his Death's Scythe idly. He then swung down in an X pattern, firing off black explosive waves of energy. "IT'S MORPHIN' TIME! ELEMENTS OF THE EARTH, RISE UP!" The seven girls declared as one, raising their left wrists, as columns of their respective elements covered them, transporting them to a rainbow colored dimension, the Grid itself.
Scythe's blasts missed by a mile as the girls momentarily blipped out of the Earthly plane. A swirl of fire covered Zemariah, and when it vanished, Zemariah was glowing with powerful Fire Magic, and she stood clad in a Knightly looking suit, that had orange pointed Dragon's horns, and a flowing mane made of pure fire emanating from her helmet, that went down past her waist, and a golden crown in the middle of her chest on a white background. "FORCEFUL AS FIRE! RED DRAGON RISING GUARDIANS RANGER!" Zemariah yelled, her voice sounding like a Dragon's roar. She was blipped back to the Earthly plane, and she struck a pose, spreading her feet shoulder width apart, and bumping her wrists together, before holding them out, in a manner akin to Ronny Robinson's pose. An explosion of Red smoke erupted behind Zemariah as she finished her pose.
Halcyon looked around in awe as pink wind surrounded the Rafkonian. She covered her eyes, and when the glow died down, she was Morphed into a Pink suit similar to Zemariah's, but slimmer, and less bulky. Her helmet was shaped like a Gryphon's head, and it screeched as the suit materialized around Halcyon. Flowers blew behind Halcyon, and she smirked under her helmet, striking a pose. She had black gloves and boots, and the same golden crown on a white background in the middle of her chest. She had her left fist at her side, and her right hand was facing Scythe, open palmed. "DYNAMIC AS THE WIND! PINK GRYHPHON RISING GUARDIANS RANGER!" Halcyon yelled as she was blipped back to the Earthly plane. As she finished posing, a blast of Pink smoke appeared right behind Halcyon.
K'Ahnia had a look of exuberance on her face as she watched the water energy swirling around her. The mutant felt the energy coursing through her as her suit materialized on her. It was blue, and the helmet was shaped like a Wolf, with a blue fur like collar surrounding her. K'Ahnia bounced on her feet eagerly, grinning under her visor. She also had the golden crown on the white background in the middle of her chest, shared with her fellow Rangers. She was blipped back to the Earthly plane too. "EVERCHANGING AS THE WATER, BLUE WOLF RISING GUARDIANS RANGER!" K'Ahnia declared, holding her hands together, cupped, like she was about to fire a Kamehameha blast. This was the signature salute of Talokan, her birthplace. As she broke her pose, she also crossed her arms, and declared at the top of her lungs, "WAKANDA FOREVER!" An explosion of blue smoke burst from the ground behind her.
Irene gasped as she felt the power of the Morphin' Grid flow through her body, giving her power she could never have dreamed of in her life. Once the green glow died down, she was clad in a green suit that had pointed, Dog like ears, which made sense. She had a brown sash, with the golden crown emblem pinned to it as it fluttered in the wind. Her belt buckle featured several intricate Celtic Knots, and Irene was blipped back into the Earthly plane as she struck a pose. "STRONG AS THE EARTH! GREEN HOUND RISING GUARDIANS RANGER!" Irene yelled, holding both of her hands out in a boxing stance. An eruption of green smoke appeared behind her.
Kamari was more excited about this than about anything she had ever been in her life. She felt the energy of Darkness fill her body, forming the spandex suit. Once the black glow died down, Kamari was standing in a Black Ranger suit unlike any other known to Earth. It had a mane of white hair flowing from it, and it was a heavily armored Black Lion suit, with the golden crown emblem right in the middle. Kamari grinned as she was blipped back to the Earthly plane, striking a pose. She had her arms spread out, fists clenched, and her feet spread apart, similar to her dad's Black Ranger pose. "ELUSIVE AS SHADOWS! BLACK LION RISING GUARDIANS RANGER!" Kamari roared at the top of her lungs, as a black puff of smoke ensued behind her.
Kalani gasped as she was surrounded by yellow lightning. As it struck her, it bonded with her, giving her a greater understanding of the element far more than being a Demigoddess could ever do. She sensed an owl fluttering around her, and she felt peaceful, despite the lightning coursing through her body. Once the yellow glow died down, she stood Morphed in a yellow and white suit, with the crown emblem being in the center of her chest. She was blipped back to the Earthly plane, and she struck a pose, doing a little bounce as she did so. "POWERFUL AS LIGHTNING, YELLOW OWL RISING GUARDIANS RANGER!" Kalani yelled, one hand raised high in the air, and the other down to her thigh, akin to Kira Ford's pose. An explosion of yellow smoke ensued right behind her back.
Last but not least, Melanie was vibrating in happiness as the white energy of sunlight filled her with even more power than her super speed granted her. She was glowing a bright white, and, when it died down, she was in a White Ranger suit unlike any seen on Earth, Rafkon, or Eltar. She had a single pointed golden horn sticking from the back of her helmet, and a red flail of hair that went down all the way to her feet, and her helmet's visor was shaped like a white dragon. She was blipped back to the Earthly plane as the Morphin' Grid vanished. Melanie struck a pose, both hands extended, with her pinkies bent. "BRIGHT AS THE SUN, WHITE DRAGON RISING GUARDIANS RANGER!" She screamed, as a burst of white smoke exploded behind her.
The girls stood in a line, with Zemariah in the middle at the head, K'Ahnia and Irene being on either side, Kalani being on Irene's left, and Kamari being on Irene's right, and Melanie was last, on the left. The struck their poses again, as a multicolored blast of light ensued behind them, nearly five stories tall. "DEFENDERS OF EARTH, WITH THE FORCES OF NATURE! POWER RANGERS : RISING GUARDIANS!" The girls yelled, all as one. Scythe stepped back in surprise, before growling lowly as he studied the Ranger suits, twirling his weapon, which had an hourglass connected to a chain.
"The fact that you are now Power Rangers will not stop me from killing you!" Scythe roared, his red bony hands turning into a blur as he twirled his scythe at super speed. Before he could even blink, Zemariah was right in front of Scythe, punching him hard in the mouth, causing him to roar in pain. Halcyon seemed to appear right beside her, snatching Scythe's, well, scythe from him. "Irene, catch!" Halcyon yelled, tossing the scythe to the newly minted Green Ranger, who caught it by extending vine ropes to catch it. "Kamari, you do the honors!" Irene chirped, and Kamari laughed, bringing her hand down in a classic karate chop, snapping the scythe in half with a shadow empowered crash, causing Scythe to yell again. "YOU BITCHES WILL PAY FOR THAT!" He screamed, firing energy bolts from his eyes at the seven, causing them to scatter as Scythe's scythe fell to the ground, useless.
Kalani giggled, and drew a short dagger that had a sun like hole in the middle. "EARTH SABER!" She called, rushing forward, and slashing Scythe across the face in an X formation, as the other girls drew the short daggers as well, Scythe roaring in pain as his face started bleeding an oily black blood. "Ewww, that's some freaky blood." Melanie wrinkled her nose, shuddering a bit. Scythe stepped back several paces as the girls regrouped, and Zemariah smirked, pulling a red crystal out of her belt, putting it into the Dagger's middle. Inside the crystal, there was a small figurine of a red dragon. Halcyon pulled out her own crystal, which was pink and had the figurine of a Gryphon. Irene's Green crystal had the Hound. Kamari's crystal had the Lion. Kalani's crystal had the owl, and finally, Melanie's crystal had a dragon as well.
"Follow my lead, Ladies!" Zemariah yelled, as her Earth Saber began charging up with fire magic. "We're so gonna win this!" Halcyon declared, her Earth Saber glowing with air magic. "Let's finish this freak." Irene continued with a smirk under her helmet, her Earth Saber charging up with earth magic. "My first Ranger fight, Dad would be so proud." Kamari added, bouncing on her feet as her Earth Saber was shining with shadow magic. "This is gonna be shocking." Kalani giggled at her own lame joke, her Earth Saber crackling with lightning magic. Melanie snorted. "Come on, Kal, that's the best you can come up with?" She asked sarcastically, her Earth Saber shining with sunshine magic. "RISING GUARDIANS, HEPTAMENTAL SLASH!" The ladies yelled as one, hurling all of the charged up magical energy, which combined into one large, rainbow colored blast as it slammed into Scythe.
Scythe screamed in pain as the energy crackled through his skeletal body. He glowed a bright rainbow color, forcing the Rangers to cover their eyes. There was a loud BANG!, and Scythe exploded, large chunks of debris scattering everywhere, before dissipating into black goop into the ground. Zemariah laughed in disbelief as the shock of the battle wore off. The civilians came back to the Mall once it was clear there was no more monsters. "It's a new Ranger team!" One little girl said excitedly, rather stating the obvious.
Before Zemariah could respond, a news team came in, and a blonde reporter got out of the van. On the side, in big bold letters, it read Crystal Cove Rainbow News, with a rainbow flag and the emblem of a five pointed star. They covered all sorts of news, from the political, to the depressing, to the just plain old straight up crazy stories. The female reporter smiled, gesturing her crew to get closer to the still Morphed rangers. Zemariah recognized the reporter as Sia Trondheim. Zemariah smiled, clearing her throat as she looked at the reporter. "Greetings, Crystal Cove." Zemariah spoke, her voice altered using an Eltarian spell, making it sound higher pitched, as she was normally a Contralto.
"We're the newest team of Power Rangers." Zemariah started, clearing her throat. "You have my word, that whenever this city is in danger, we'll always be there to protect it. As for our team name, before you ask. We are the Power Rangers : Rising Guardians." She added. Sia nodded, as one of her comrades was writing the words down. "And you can absolutely quote me on that." Zemariah added, smirking under her helmet. "Rangers, ready to go home?" She asked the group, and Halcyon nodded. "You know it!" She agreed.
Zemariah raised her left hand, and the Ranger ladies vanished in a flash of silver starlight, momentarily blinding the news crew. Sia looked very excited once the glow died down. She turned to the assembled crowd, smiling excitedly. "Well, Crystal Cove! You all heard it, straight from Earth's newest Red Ranger!" Sia commented. "This is Sia Trondheim, always happy to bring you the latest news going on in our shining Crystal Cove!" She added.
~August 8th, 2045, 2:00 PM, Billy's Basement~
Zemariah and the girls landed in Billy's basement, their Ranger forms vanishing in swirls of light, as the girls landed in a pile, all laughing giddily. "That really just happened!" Zemariah giggled, chest heaving as she took several breaths to try and calm down. Halcyon laughed, and nodded. "We just super destroyed that monster!" She agreed. K'Ahnia squeaked as Kamari had landed on her ankle wings, as they were a tangled mess of limbs.
Billy laughed from his chair, where he had monitored everything in the basement. "You ladies did an excellent job of defending the city today." Billy spoke up gently, standing up. The girls untangled themselves, laughing as they all shared looks. "Your parents would all be very proud of you. I know I am." Billy added, and Zemariah smiled, before tilting her head. "Speaking of that, are we allowed to tell our parents? I know Mom was the Pink Ranger before, so she'll figure it out." Zemariah wondered.
Billy sighed, but nodded, as he had been expecting that question. "The three rules Zordon told me and my team when we became Rangers. ONE : We must NEVER escalate a fight, unless our enemy forces us to. TWO : We must NEVER use our powers for personal gain, lest we lose the protection. THREE: We must never reveal our identities ever, unless in the most dire of circumstances." Billy said firmly. He then sighed, running a hand through his graying hair. "However, I believe we can make exceptions in your case." Billy decided. Kamari tilted his head. "Well, Mum's gonna figure it out, because you guys fought together. And she's smart." She mused, her Australian accent strong.
Halcyon smiled. "Amelia is so gonna flip. She's been wanting me to become a Ranger for years." She commented. Kalani crossed her arms, looking pensive. K'Ahnia took notice of this, and the mutant tilted her head curiously. "Kal, what's wrong?" She asked. "Are we really cut out for this? I mean, we just got lucky today, really." Kalani said softly. Zemariah smiled. "It wasn't luck, Kal. My dad always said the Grid does things for a reason, and I believe him. If we're meant to save this city, we will save it. We'll stop the Dark Void." Zemariah promised.
Billy opened his mouth, then closed it, smiling. She's just like you, Zordon. He thought sadly, missing his old mentor. Kalani gave Zemariah a soft smile. "Yeah, you're right. Y'all know I'm a worry wart." She laughed sheepishly, causing Kamari to giggle. "You certainly are." She teased lightly. Melanie grinned. "This has certainly been a hell of a day." She commented. K'Ahnia nodded in agreement. "A very good day." She smiled. Billy smiled softly. "Come on girls. Lunch will be on me today." He spoke up with a laugh. That earned a cheer from the 7 ladies, as they all made their way to the exit of Billy's basement.
~August 8th, 2045, 2:10 PM, Castle Void~
Tartarus was roaring in anger, flapping his wings, and creating powerful gusts of wind that blew his comrades off of their feet, causing them all to face plant to the ground. Castle Void was shaking so hard, the entire dimension shaking and trembling. "THOSE BLASTED RANGER CHILDREN! I SWEAR I'LL DESTROY THEM MYSELF!" Tartarus screamed at the top of his lungs. Behind Tartarus, a massive clock appeared, and it swirled, making a loud booming sound as the hand ticked up one sliver. This was the Void Clock. Thanks to Zordon's old seal, Tartarus was unable to leave the Void Dimension, but his generals and monsters could leave no problem.
Nyx scrambled to her feet, panting as she looked up at Tartarus, her purple eyes wide with fear. "But Master, you can't! Until the Void Clock is full, you won't be able to-AHHHHHHHHHH!" She screeched in pain as Tartarus zapped her with a blast of white hot lightning magic, causing Erebus and Thanatos to cower in fear as Nyx dropped like a sack of potatoes, twitching as her wings flapped weakly from the jolt of their own accord. "THIS FAILURE IS ON YOUR HEAD, NYX! I SWEAR, WE WILL DESTROY THOSE RANGERS, AND THE SURFACE WORLD! MARK MY WORDS, EARTH FORCE! ONE DAY, I'LL PLACE ALL OF YOUR HEADS ON PIKES FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD TO SEE!" Tartarus screamed, starting to cackle maniacally as his threat lingered in the air.

"Uya kwenza kakuhle kulo nyaka, K'Ahnia. Sikuthanda kakhulu sobabini. Ngaphezu kwayo nantoni na. Kwaye sinebhongo ngawe." Spoken in Xhosan by Queen Shuri of Wakanda and Talokan to reassure and soothe K'Ahnia's nerves. "You will do well this year, K'Ahnia. We love you both so much. More than anything. And we are proud of you."
"Teech in puksi'ik'al, k'uj' K'Ahnia. In ki'ichpam waal, Líik'en por encima de tuláakal yéetel conquista a sajkij." Spoken by the somewhat aloof King Namor of Talokan to his only child, ever, to soothe both himself and her. "You are my heart, K'Ahnia. My beautiful daughter, rise above all and conquer your fears."
ʻIke wau, e Mama. He ʻino wale koʻu no kēia makahiki kula." Spoken in Hawaiian by Kalani Kulpe, showcasing her nerves about another school year that could potentially be filled by disasters. "I know, Mama, I just have a bad feeling about this school year."
Now! I will attempt to create my own version of Eltarian, and it won't be anywhere near as pretty as CemeteryFaerie's version of Eltarian, but I'll try my hardest! I'll also attempt to make a language for Rafkon as well, given Halcyon's heritage! However, I'd be willing and eager if someone could offer their services, so to speak. Feel free to leave me a message or a comment, for those willing to help out! This is Dart, signing off for now! Stay tuned for more Rising Guardians! Jā matane!
Voidling Destruction Count : 140 (20 Per Ranger), Dark Void Monster Destruction Count (One), Zord Battles (None, Currently)

Zemariah : Oh really, Dart, you're just gonna end our first chapter on a cliffhanger like that? When do we get our Zords?
Halcyon : Oh yeah, the Zords are gonna be soooo cool! Isn't that right, Dart? Huh?
Me : Of course, ladies! I promise, the next battle will feature your Zords, and the Megazord!
K'Ahnia : I've never seen a Zord in real life before, and even Mama Shuri doesn't know how to build one.
Irene : Or, alternatively, why 7 girls protecting the world is such a greatttttt idea, cough snark cough cough. Note the extreme sarcasm there, y'all.
Kalani : I mean, who knows? Maybe we'll kick the monster's ass every time!
Kamari : Let's just hope we don't get an evil Ranger, like my dad used to be ages ago.
Melanie : You know, my dad was almost turned evil once! But not fully, he just turned into a jackass really, thanks to those blasted Fury Cells.
