Chapter 42 - Chapter 42 - Madness

His eyes scanned her demeanor, desperately looking for a sign of laughter, of disagreement or even an equal amount of disbelief, yet nothing seemed to show, nothing but sadness and what could potentially be perceived as desperation.

"Narcia!" He yelled, his patience running low, what had happened while he was out cold, what had she done with her ex, had he been that much of a play thing for her? A challenge to be overcome?

Had she lost interest now that he had finally dedicated himself to her? Marked her at the peril of his own humanity, giving away his only chance to one day live a normal life if he had chosen to.

He couldn't believe it, surely he was mistaken, this had to be some kind of sick, twisted mockery she had decided to play on him, perhaps she was even lying to him, not that she had said anything.

No, she stood there, eyes looking down at the ground in shame, unable to speak for herself, it pained him, it pained him like nothing.

"See? You were just a toy for her, she already lost interest now that she has responsibilities. I order you to pack your things and be gone by the time my ceremony starts, I don't need your worthless smell around while I mate her." Silviano said as he gripped Liam's shoulder, the boy shaking his head in disappointment as she lifted her head to protest.

Silviano did not even wait as she called out, following in protest as Liam was thrown outside the house with a slam of the door, his body having yet to recover failed to catch itself and crashed onto the pavement.

He could hear the loud screams and yelling inside the house, not that it mattered to him, his mate had clearly... No... She wasn't his mate, she was a whore, a worthless bitch.

Tears brimmed his eyes as he sat up, his hand gripping his chest as he struggled to breathe, the pain was so strong, so horrible, how could she do this after what he went through for her.

Liam slowly stood up, limping as his vision wavered, the sun blazing through the clouds with an intensity like no other, dehydration already taking effect on him as a headache started.

"Fucking hell..." He mumbled as he made his way to her house, looking around for whatever personal effect he still had, if it hadn't already been thrown out by mister king over there.

He couldn't understand how this had happened, did him marking her mean nothing? Was it because he was human when the bite happen? Why was she willing to be with that jerk rather than him?

"I need to call Matheo... I can't take this on my own." He whimpered out as he pulled his phone out, barelly holding himself together as he dialed the number.

"The phone you are trying to reach is no longer in service, please make sure to check the number you have dialed and call again." The phone immediately said, making Liam frown in confusion, how was his phone no longer in service?

Liam quickly checked the contact and the phone he had dialed, confirming that the number was indeed the right one, Liam shook his head in concern, quickly calling again and falling on the same message.

"What in gods name..?" He mumbled under his breath before rushing out of the house, making his way towards Matheo's parents house, sending a quick worried text but being blocked with a similar message that the phone was no longer in service.

His heart picked up the pace, something was not right, something was very very wrong, Matheo had no reasons to change phone, or to turn off his service for good, something must've happened.

He quickly knocked on the door, his mother opening it before smiling at Liam, leaning against the doorframe.

"Why hello Liam, I am so glad to see you are better." She said in a soft tone, lifting his chin to see a small scrape on it, gently wiping the blood away.

"Is Matheo here!?" He quickly said as she frowned, shaking her head before offering to come in, to which he quickly but politely declined, his worry growing worse by the second.

He quickly ran back to the main house, ignoring the woman he left behind in worry, barging into the house and grabbing a few supplies, he only had one place in mind that Matheo might be at.

Devan's house.

-

He didn't know how much time had passed since he dozed off, he had felt so relaxed with the new companion in the room, it felt slightly less hopeless with her around.

He wondered if she went to school nearby, what her hobbies were, what she excelled at, he couldn't to ask her all about it once they got out.

"Someone will come for us... Someone wil come..." He mumbled quietly as he watched the younger girl sleep, she looked so young, too young to be living throigh such a scary experience.

He noted to himself to make sure to make up for her company in these hard times, maybe he could take her out to shop for clothes or makeup, that what girls like anyway... Right?

Matheo flinched as the door opened, thoughts immediately disrupted, his eyes widening as the man walked in, a sickening grin on his face as usual, it made Matheo dread whatever the man was planning without even knowing what it was.

"How do you like the company? I made sure to get you a nice young one too, doesn't that seem more attractive than my son?"

"I am gay, not bisexual you idiot." Matheo growled as he glared, the man's expression falling into annoyance as the girl quickly tried to crawl away, he had nothing but malice on his face.

"I suppose you're useless then, aren't you?" He said in a sinister tone, the girl shaking her head rapidly in fear before he took a step closer to her, Matheo's eyes glowing bright as he growled.

"Don't touch her!"

"Oh I am not interested in doing anything of the sorts to her... I am simply... Hungry." He said as his body started to snap, Matheo's and the girl's eyes widening as he slowly took the shape of his rotten form, the stench making the room barely breathable.

The girl screamed as Matheo yelled to stop, trying his best to reach her with wide eyes, his chain keeping him at bay as the cannibal started to laugh in a distorted way.

How was he so useless in a situation like this, he had to do something, to stop him from hurting her, she didn't have to go through the pain he had gone through himself.

That shoulder still stung, having mostly healed by now, but the man didn't want to hurt her like he had with Matheo, this man had no empathy, no heart.

He wanted to feast.

It all happened so slowly, Matheo had always read about how these moments usually happened so fast, that you couldn't do anything, you could only sit there in shock and that it would over in the blink of an eye.

But not for him, it was like the world slowed down for him to see it perfectly, his new friend getting pounced, her screams of pain and terror as the beast tore her arm off with a sickening crunch.

He felt the blood that splattered on his face, his eyes couldn't look away as her body layered the ground with the red substance, his ears memorized the gurgle she did when he bit her throat and chewed at it.

The raspy yet inaudible pleads she attempted as blood flowed freely out of her mouth, the gut wrenching sound that her flesh made as he tore her abdomen open and feasted.

Matheo closed his eyes, crying at the traumatizing scene that had played before him, that was still playing a few feets from him, gagging as he desperately tried to keep himself together and drown the gastly sounds that this monster was making, small sounds coming from her as she slowly died.

He knew she was still alive, the horrific gurgling told him as much as nails scrapped at the ground, he didnt have to look to know her last remaining arm was filling the under of her nails with the dirt of the floor, her desperate attempt at clawing herself away from this.

There was nothing he could do, nothing he could say, he couldn't cover his ears, he couldn't forget the images, he could only cry, cry and beg for mercy to the moon Goddess that he doesn't end up dying that way.

He begged and begged as the sounds slowly died down, the sound of gushing blood slowly dying out in the room as the metal stench mixed with the rotten one.

"What a delicious meal, so tender and young... You want a bite?" The man said as Matheo finally lost it, vomiting to the side as he trembled, he couldn't take it, this was too much for him, too much in general.

His mind couldn't take any more abuse, the Goddess knew his body was done taking it, it was done accepting, it was done waiting for help.

His arm suddenly snapped, his eyes opening wide with a scream as the cannibal frowned, shifting back into his human form.

"What are you doing?" The man asked, visibly panicked as Matheo's body started to act on it's own, his second arm now breaking as well as his eyes glowed, pure agony on his features.

"Make it stop!" Matheo screamed as his spine started to follow along, snapping every disc he had as he yelled even louder, the cannibal completely shocked as he watched.

"I'll be dammed, you're actually shifting... That must be utterly uncomfortable." The man said as he licked his lips, enjoying the view as Matheo cried out desperately, his cries echoing throughout the walls of this cursed cell.

"I hope you survive it... I'll give you a bit of a chance." The man said as he slowly walked towards Matheo, blood dripping from his clothes as the poor boy screamed even louder.

The man bent down, untying Matheo's legs before stepping away, smiling as he watched the wolf twist in pain, wipping his face of the blood with his handkerchief.

"Good luck." He said as he walked out, abandoning Matheo in the room, leaving the corpse of the girl there, the pain of his bones breaking themselves getting worse by the second as the shards stabbed at his insides.

The man knew there would be worse to come anyway, so perhaps his death would be a mercy, the boy would be saved from the torture he had in store for him, maybe the Goddess they prayed so much to would have pity for her loyal believers.

Matheo cried as his bones moved around, desperately trying to shift for him, but his position was completely stopping it, leaving him stuck in constant pain with a broken posture.

"Goddess!" He breathed out loudly, taking deep breaths as his bones slowly moved again, sickening noises echoing through his body, he closed his eyes thightly, tears running down his face.

"Help me! Please!!" He cried out as he arched his back, eyes snapping wide as his spine completely shifted into its wolf shape as Matheo broke his vocal cords with a scream.

Sweat started to build up as he fell to his side, the strength in his body slowly leaving him as his breath started to pick up, his poor eyes glacing around the room in hopes of finding a solution.

He didn't know how much longer he could take of this, he didn't know who would give up first in this battle.

His mind...

Or his body.
