Chapter 56 - CH56:BACK TO SQUARE ONE.

"Damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it, DAMN IT!!" Murdock took the scanner off his hand and smashed it on the ground out of frustration. The alien screamed and threw anger tantrums while his female accomplice stood back and smiled with a wide grin on her face.

Huntress watched as the larger Granian used his sword and slashed down trees with a single slash. During this fit of rage, he chose to take it out on the plant life rather than animals since they did nothing to him…yet.

"Now if I ask why you're throwing a useless tantrum, will I be a b*tch?" Huntress teased while rolling her pointed tongue across her lips.

Murdock angrily glared back at her and said, "You'll always be a b*tch to me, no matter what you do."

"Aww, thanks." She smiled while letting out a little snicker, further pissing the Granians off. "Come on, you big angry thing," She said while slowly approaching him with a massage to his back, "What's pissing you off early this morning?"

"The location's been turned off," Murdock mumbled. "Whoever was selling the boy isn't doing it anymore and I've lost where they were going to hold it from."

"That's it?" Huntress asked, but this time, she took a few steps back as Murdock's tail bashed through more trees. ''I thought it was something serious like, I don't know, Grim giving us deadlines to catch the boy."

"It's not that. Huntress," Grim replied. "The location was somewhere close by. In fact, we're only ten minutes away from it."

"Ok, and?" Huntress asked one more time.

"Look ahead of you, Huntress." Murdock replied. "We're not anywhere near human civilization or population at all. It's an empty, open field. There's no one here from miles ahead."

"Yikes."

"Oh!! Yikes, yeah." Murdock sarcastically replied. "We're back to square one. There's no where else we can go right now, and its day break already."

Murdock managed to calm his nerves down and collected his thoughts before saying, "There's bound to be some human settlement here that we can go to. Once there, we can call for backup to help us sweep the area and pull out those two."

"Well If you say so," Huntress sheepishly grabbed her ring blade, gun and walked ahead of Murdock. "What will we do if the kid's stronger than both of us, combined?"

This question, though as weird as it sounds, reminded both aliens that it could be a possibility. Their brief encounter with Cherry reminded them of the constant threat that blood mutants were, especially to the Granians.

"That could be a possibility," Murdock replied. "I mean, the girl's power itself is on a whole new level and she hasn't even received training."

"But the boy has the system implanted in his system." Huntress replied. "Grand Master and the most intelligent of our kind made it possibly the most highly advanced piece of technology in the discovered galaxies."

"Perhaps, it could even be greater than the Ethisians." As soon as Murdock said the last word, the scales on his and Huntress' tails stood up the same way the hairs on a human's head would if they were faced in a situation that's frightening.

"We don't know yet," Murdock replied. "Like us, the Ethisians have a system as well with a host that shares the same physical aspects as these humans. Their warrior is…"

"Don't bring that up again, Murdock," Huntress said in a defeated tone. "You know damn well what he did to us and our people."

"Don't get emotional about this again, Huntress," Murdock replied. "Now come. Let's go find this boy."

Meanwhile, as the two Granians progressed further through the desert Ace passed through, the two beings, one being a blood mutant and the other being a multi-powered Gifted soldier, slowly followed them while keeping a much safer distance. Jim and Jack stalked their alien invaders as they'd desperately try to make sense of whatever they'd say to each other.

Unlike Ace and Cherry, these two and the rest of the humans did not poses translators so when it came to Granian-Human communication, they would mostly be left in the dark while the aliens translated everything that was said to them.

"This isn't…working…" Jack, who was currently serving as a mere vessel to Jim, stressfully cried out with despair evidently showing in his voice. "We…we can't understand a word they're saying. Why did we not just follow the girl? She too had your weird condition."

Jim's golden blood strands slowly creeped out of Jack's body as he deformed back to normal. He then looked at Jack and said, "The girl could be another victim, just like me. Unfortunately, I didn't understand a single word those aliens said to her but we do know that…"

"They are hunting for Ace. I get it, Jim," Jack replied. "But please. Why don't you come back with me and we can find a cure for you, for both of us."

Jim sighed and grunted heavily as the veins on his body popped again, turning him into his blood mutant form. "If it was you in my position, you'd have sent the whole army after him." Jim's blood strands slowly dissolved into Jack's body as he took control of it again. He then turned Jack into a small, regular scorpion. In this form, he controlled Jack to follow the two Granians as an unnoticeable creature of the wild, simply moving through its natural habitat.

"Please, Jim," Jack pleaded again, but this time he spoke through his mind, since they were literally sharing the same body. "You don't have to do this. The boy did it as an honest mistake. From what you told me, he didn't do nothing wrong to you."

"I swear on my life, if you talk about forgiving him I will give you up to those aliens. I'll transform you into your human form and leave you stranded in front of them. You know damn well how the female has an urge to kill whatever two legged humanoid moves across her path."

Feeling useless and defeated, Jack kept his thoughts to himself as his body was forced to follow Murdock and Huntress.
