Layla stirred awake and pressed a hand to her head as the mother of all headaches hit her. She opened her eyes and looked around her, confused as to where she was.

She tried to recollect all that had happened before she became unconscious and the last she remembered was feeling happy that Alexander would be coming home soon, then she’d gone out.

But of course, that couldn’t have been more, for one thing led to another, and she was surely a long way from home. She couldn’t feel her home.

Humans. She thought grimly. She’d been attacked by humans who’d used a spell to bind her powers. She could feel the tug of her powers reaching for her and she in turn was reaching for it, but there was a barrier, and until she figured how to break down the barrier, she was temporarily without her magicks. Bunch of hoodlums, playing with dark magic that they knew nothing about.

But, Dear God, everything actually hurt! And she felt nauseous. Dark magicks could be so, she thought.
