She didn’t know what to say to that, so she shrugged and said nothing. But when Alexander went back to his cabin and Dinah said she wanted to stay behind to talk to her, she felt she knew what was coming.
“Your cousin was really worried about you,” Layla said when she sat across from her in the living room.
“Yes…” Dinah said, “I was worried about him too. Especially when Alejandro came home once in a fit and rage.”
Layla didn’t say anything. The woman seemed like she had more on her mind to say, and she was more than willing to hear her say it.
“You saved him, didn’t you?”
She was too stunned to speak. Didn’t really know how to reply,
“I brought him here when I saw him injured.” Dinah smiled and shook her head,
“I know what you are by the way. And Edward. And I know you know what we are as well. What I don’t… what I can’t understand is why. Why are you helping us?”
“Know that Edward and I are what exactly?”
“Layla.”
