Keiko stirs from her sleep, a heavy feeling falling over her. She opens her eyes to darkness and sharp silence, unsettling her. Staring forward, she squints her eyes, as if to look for something that isn’t there. Just when she starts to feel relieved that there’s nothing to fear, she sees a pair of glowing red eyes in the mirror. She cuddles closer to Nadia, squeezing her shirt tightly. Nadia moans slightly but doesn’t wake up. She does, however, instinctively pull Keiko closer to her.
Keiko closes her eyes and focuses on the steady beating of Nadia’s heart to calm her nerves, but her feeling of anxiety continues to grow as the room seems to grow colder. Keiko’s mind recalls the times in the past where she felt this way, and she’d call out to Kei, who would comfort her. She considers doing so now, but her pride refuses to let her, feeling she’s outgrown that phase.
