“No…please, no!” Nadia shouts in distress. She drops her head to the ground. “Why did you kill her like that? Why not just drink from her and compel her to leave, forgetting everything she saw tonight? It would’ve been easy for you to do, and you could’ve spared her such pain and death. Feeding from her is fair.” Nadia looks over at her with remorse. “But she didn’t need to die!”
“You’re right, she didn’t.” She moves closer, such that she’s standing over Nadia with a serious expression. “I could’ve compelled her to stay put and quiet while I drank from her. I didn’t have to drain her, just a few gulps would’ve sufficed. I could’ve sent her on her merry way to return to her friends like nothing happened. It would’ve been a plain old night for them. You’re correct.”
