Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

"Queen Isabell" Lailah screamed, worry clear in her voice. "The kingdom is under attack! They have defeated the royal soldiers at the shore and are now heading toward the palace. It's time to leave."

"Where is King Constantine?" Isabell asked in her usual calm demeanor as if the defeat of her soldiers and the brutal killing of people were worth nothing.

"He.... he..... left to protect the pack." she started sobbing. "My Queen we must leave. He won't be able to hold the attack for long. It's your safety that matters the most. I beg you! let's leave."

"I cannot leave him alone Lailah. If we fight we fight together and if we die we die together." Isabell averted her gaze from her newborn baby boy, sleeping peacefully in her lap to Lailah. Her furrowed brows, tense jaws, and sparkling eyes portrayed the wrath of God but her calm and composed persona could burn the entire continent to its core. Isabell lifted her son for the last time, kissed his forehead, and memorized his beautiful features.

" Lilah, you have to protect the prince no matter what. I will go and fight beside the king."

"Luna, please leave with us. The survivors of the pack will need you once the war is over." Her words as if dissipating in the air and not reaching Isabell's ears.

"Lilah! Look at me, you must protect the prince, take him to the elder of The Saintes clan." She ordered in a firm tone. Isabell for the last time pulled her in for a hug and then they both ran downstairs. She lead her to the royal graveyard and showed her the secret passage leading to the Saintes garden and after ensuring her son was safe she cast a spell and hid the secret passage. She breathed a sigh of relief and rush out of the palace in search of her mate.

Her ears bleeding from the screams of innocent children, and her eyes witnessed the blood that was drooling on the streets. Her innocent people were slaughtered brutally. She at that moment, realized that the chaos inside her meant nothing compared to the one outside.

She rushed towards the shore but was blown off the track by the spell. Her back smashed against the wall, She lifted her head and saw a witch smirking. The pain traveled down her spine but still, she jumped and in a single move killed her. Werewolves, vampires, and witches were all in an alliance against a single pack, the royal pack.

The moment she reached the pack border she saw her mate, the Alpha King fighting fearlessly against them. Is there anyone left who has not betrayed us, moon goddess? She lifted her head and questioned the skies. Even the moon goddess refused to help. They were thus left alone.

Isabell started an enchanting spell. She gathered all her power in a ball and once it became bright blue she opened her eyes and directed it towards the enemy king who was aiming at her mate's neck. She dissipated the ball towards him and he couldn't dodge it. The magic ball enclosed him and finally engulfed every single ounce of life in his body.

His wife left a thunderous scream. Isabell knew she was powerful and Isabell won't be able to win over her.

Isabell made her way towards King Constantine who was trying to stand. He was severely injured. The moment she touched her mate she could feel the bond becoming fragile. His energy was draining he needed time to gather his strength. She looked around for help and saw the queen aiming at her mate. She recited a protection spell that she knew could only hold enough for her mate to die peacefully. The queen attacked with a force greater than their pack could endure. Her attack was joined by the witches. She started rising in the air and laid a curse,

"I CURSE THE ALPHA OF THIS PACK TO REMAIN MATELESS AND NEVER LEAVE THIS LAND WHERE I LOST MY MATE."

Several voices joined her spell and a lavender light erupted consuming everything and everyone. Isabell's protection barrier broke and she fell next to her mate. He tried to lift himself to protect her but he had no strength left. His eyes meet her and tears blurred their vision. Their life was not supposed to end like this. They vowed to grow old together.

"You should have left Isabell." he held her hands firmly as if they meant the world to him. "I couldn't do it. I couldn't leave..... but our son has left. He is safe rest assured." He gave a tired smile and their bond disappeared. He died. She the Saintes of her clan gathered her strength and her wings appeared. Golden and red dust surrounded her. She merged the strength of her original being with the power of her wolf then flapped her wings causing the hybrid powers to encircle them.

" The last Saintes will be born in the Saintes garden. She will not only bring our glory back but will also lift the curse."

She spread the chaotic powers creating a protective barrier. Her spell collided with the curse of the witches and their powers broke out creating a dense fog around the golden moon pack border. She flapped her wings harder and strong wind threw out all the enemies in the vast oceans. The power of her soul was gone and her wings disappeared, she landed right next to her mate.

The last thing She saw before closing her eyes for eternity was brightly white light. She saw a hand approaching. She flinched and then saw her mate offering his hand for her to grab. She held his hand and entered the bright light. She looked down and saw the survivors of her pack mourning. The remaining warriors rushed toward their bodies.

"I saved as many lives as I could," Isabell stated.

"I know Isabell. We cannot change the fate. You always wished a life away from pack duties and kingdom's responsibilities, seems like we have got one for eternity now."

Years after years, their enemies searched for the Saintes clan. The Saintes clan disappeared after Isabell's death and the lands of her clan were transformed into a forest. None of the mythical creatures could find the Saintes garden in that forest. Some believed it vanished. Some said it was lifted and transferred to the Sainte's residence in the heavens. Some believed it was hidden by a protective barrier. They were never able to find it including the Saintes' son and grandsons, the Kings of the cursed Golden Moon pack.
