Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 19- CEPHALONEUROPLASM MICROORGANISMS STARTS DRAINING MARK'S MIND

The room was quiet until Mark spoke up. "Can I ask about your identity, Spectre?" They were both sitting and leaning against the wall, the only light coming from the flickering flames in the fireplace.

"My name is not Spectre, it's Jhohan Cruze. I come from a family of scientists, but unfortunately, I never knew my biological father. My mother was a renowned scientist who discovered a cure for all types of cancer named Oncothoraxin Savrocyte. However, she passed away when I was an infant, and my stepfather raised me on his own. Sadly, he was shot in his bedroom three years ago."

"Why was your stepfather killed?" Mark asked.

"I don't know, Exactly. When I was in my room late at night, taking notes for my research, I heard a gunshot from my stepfather's room. I ran to him and found him lying on the ground, lifeless, with a pistol in his right hand," Spectre explained.

"So he committed suicide? Mark asked.

"No, Mark. It was made to look like that, but when I looked out the window, I saw a black car speeding away. Someone offed him.

"But what happened to your mom?"

"She was also killed while celebrating with her team after successfully creating the Oncothraxin Savrocyte."

"My apologies, Spectre" Mark said. "Could you tell me more about Oncothoraxin Savrocyte?"

"Oncothoraxin Savrocyte is a remarkable breakthrough in the field of cancer research,"

Spectre explained. "It's a cell designed to specifically target and destroy cancerous cells in the body, while leaving healthy cells unharmed. The 'oncothoraxin' portion of the name refers to its cancer-fighting properties, while 'savrocyte' indicates that it is a type of immune cell that actively seeks out and destroys cancerous cells."

"It works by releasing a specific protein or enzyme that triggers programmed cell death, known as apoptosis, in cancer cells. This essentially causes the cancer cells to self-destruct, while leaving the surrounding healthy cells untouched. It's a truly remarkable creation and has the potential to save countless lives," Spectre finished.

Mark's mood suddenly shifted as he listened to Jhohan's explanation. He remained quiet for a moment, lost in thought.

"I never imagined that Detective Jameson would lie to us," Mark finally said, breaking the silence.

Jhohan looked at him, surprised. "What do you mean?"

Mark shook his head. "It's just that... he was the one who stole Oncothoraxin Savrocyte from your mother's lab, right?"

Jhohan nodded slowly. "Yes, that's correct."

"But why did he save us?" Mark asked, his curiosity piqued.

Jhohan hesitated for a moment before answering.

"The truth is..."

she's about to explain, but was interrupted by a sudden outburst from Mark.

Mark clutched his head in pain and let out a loud scream, the sound echoing through the room. He collapsed to the ground, still writhing in agony. Jhohan rushed to his side and held him, trying to calm him down.

"Mark, just try to relax," she said soothingly.

But Mark could hardly speak, his words coming out in fragments between pained gasps. "I ca….n't... con…trol it!" he managed to say.

Jhohan stepped back as she saw the veins starting to become visible on Mark's head. She looked on as Mark continued to suffer in pain, waiting for his body to change. But it wasn't what she had anticipated. Suddenly, Mark stopped shouting and moving, and he fell asleep due to the excruciating pain. Jhohan immediately checked his pulse, fearing the worst.

The Cephaloneuroplasm Microorganisms were draining Mark's strength and damaging his mind. Jhohan recalled the person in the video who had been infected with the tiny creatures. He had won fights in the arena,But died from the same effects.

Jhohan lifted Mark's body and propped him against the wall. Quietly opening the door, she scanned the hallway for any sign of other people. She then left the room to search for the bag that Mark had thrown beside the train. She moved cautiously towards the objective, but saw soldiers approaching from the same direction. Quickly, she slipped into a crevice in the wall to hide.

As the soldiers passed by, Jhohan continued walking until she reached a circular area. Everything seemed normal and clean, with guards stationed at every door. She scanned every corner and noticed surveillance cameras around the area. She saw the train still parked there, but she couldn't approach it due to the Soldiers and cameras. As she turned back, she noticed a room and decided to enter to see if there was anything useful. However, the room turned out to be empty.

The underground facility was suddenly rocked by a violent earthquake, causing the lights to flicker and the ground to shake.she looked through the transparent glass on the door and saw soldiers frantically running towards the circular area. Without hesitation, she burst through the door and delivered a powerful kick to the last soldier in the line, sending him hurtling into the wall. However, another soldier noticed her actions and pointed his gun at her. Jhohan was fast enough to execute a spinning back kick that knocked him out cold.

But before she could catch her breath, the first soldier she had attacked had regained his senses and lunged at her and the two exchanged blows, their combat skills equally matched. Jhohan stepped back, taking a hard hit to her stomach. The soldier drew his knife and the two stood, waiting for the first move. The soldier lunged, and Jhohan parried his attack with a swift kick, holding onto his hand and stealing his knife in one fluid motion. She then performed an over-the-shoulder move, sending the soldier crashing to the ground. As he lay there, Jhohan stabbed him in the heart.

Jhohan's heart was still racing as she surveyed the scene, she made her way through the underground subway tunnel, she could feel the tension rising. The sound of gunfire echoed through the tunnel as she approached the circular area. Soldiers were frantically shooting at something, but Jhohan was determined to stay focused on her objective. She crawled underneath the train, searching for the bag Mark had thrown. Finally, her hand grasped the handle of the bag, and she quickly slung it over her shoulder.

But just as she turned to make her way back to Mark, she realized something was wrong. The room where she had left him was now empty, except for the flickering light of a nearby fire. Panic surged through her veins. Had someone taken him? Had he been discovered? She pushed through her fear and raced back into the hallway, determined to find out what had happened to Mark.

"Spectre!" a loud voice echoed from the distance, causing Jhohan to turn around and spot Mark approaching her.

"Hey Spectre, where did you go?" Mark asked.

"When I woke up, you were gone and then the earthquake happened. So, I decided to look for you,"He added.

"I got the bag from the train. Are you feeling okay now?" Jhohan asked Mark.

"Do you still have any pain in your head?" she added.

"No, I'm feeling much better. But why did you risk your life to retrieve a bag? What's so important about it?" Mark inquired.

"It's the syringe that contains OrganismX," Jhohan replied, holding out the syringe.

"I don't need it right now. Let's save it for later," Mark refused.

"Don't worry, there are still 9 doses left. Just take it now, it might help," Jhohan insisted.

"I'm telling you, I'm totally fine, Spectre. I promise," Mark said firmly.

"What's the point of keeping it if we're not going to use it when we need it?" Jhohan asked, insisting that Mark take the injection.

Their conversation was abruptly interrupted by another violent shake from underground.

"We have to get out of here, Mark," Jhohan urged.

Mark quickly turned around. "Okay, I found a way out."

But before he could take another step, Jhohan injected him with the OrganismX liquid on his neck.

"Ahw!" Mark exclaimed, feeling the sting of the needle.

He turned to Jhohan, his expression fierce. But Jhohan just smiled at him.

"Let's go, Mark!" she yelled, running ahead.

Mark remained standing, still a little angry with Jhohan for injecting him without his consent.

Mark followed Jhohan's lead and ran in her direction. As they were making their way, Mark shouted, "Hey Spectre! This way!" and darted towards the subway tunnel.

"It's too dangerous there! Follow me!" Jhohan shouted back.

Mark charged ahead, but they soon found themselves facing a swarm of soldiers. "Damn it! Why are there so many soldiers here?" Jhohan cursed under her breath.

The soldiers began firing at them, and Jhohan and Mark had no choice but to take cover in the nearby wall. "You made another mistake, Spectre," Mark grumbled.

"No, it's a safer route than the subway," Jhohan replied coolly.

But their situation was quickly becoming dire. The soldiers showed no signs of letting up, and Jhohan and Mark were running low on options. The tension in the air was palpable as they tried to devise a plan.

They quickly found cover behind a nearby wall and carefully advanced, moving left and right to avoid being hit by the soldiers. Mark took cover in the entrance of a nearby door, while Jhohan positioned herself on the other side.

"I'll try to confront them. Just hold on to the bag," Jhohan whispered to Mark, before throwing the bag towards the soldiers. But as it flew through the air, it was hit by a bullet and fell to the ground.

"Damn it!" Jhohan cursed under her breath. She rolled to Mark's side and grabbed the bag, successfully retrieving it. However, as she did so, the door where mark was standing broke, and Jhohan fell onto Mark.

For a moment, Jhohan lay on top of Mark, staring into each other's eyes. Then Jhohan quickly got up, leaving Mark feeling a little flustered by the unexpected closeness.

The soldier was about to enter the room when he saw Mark lying on the ground. Jhohan hit him on the face with her elbow, causing his helmet to break, and she grabbed his weapon. She kicked him and shot him, then noticed an item, a digital map, had fallen to the ground. Jhohan picked it up while shooting.

Mark stood up after Jhohan killed the soldier. She led the way, shooting at soldiers in front of them. She gave Mark a weapon, but he accidentally touched the trigger and almost hit Jhohan. She dodged the shot and angrily hit Mark on the head. "You're a guy, but you don't know how to use guns. Give it back to me!" she shouted at him. Mark felt ashamed and handed the weapon back to Jhohan.

They continued walking and hiding, with Jhohan shooting to keep their enemies at bay. Eventually, they reached the stairway and began ascending. The first room they entered was empty, so Jhohan checked the digital map again and realized they were in the wrong room. They continued ascending and entered the next room, where they found a long ladder, which they climbed. They reached the top and removed the cover, revealing the interior of a small house. Looking outside, they saw a lot of trees nearby and the Midlight Tower in the distance.

"How did we get this far?" Jhohan spoke to herself as they looked out at the desolate city in the morning. Smoke rose from the buildings and helicopters flew overhead, shooting and bombing the ground. Some of them were taken down by monsters jumping on them.

"The great city is now completely ruined," Mark said, sitting down and surveying the city's destruction.

Jhohan checked the digital map and discovered that the underground world was as big as the island.

She sat down next to Mark. "I thought I had already explored it, but I was wrong," she said, realizing the enormity of the underground world.

"He's absolutely planning to build his own underground city," Mark said, thinking about the mysterious figure.
