Vittorio looked out in the rain from the comfort, light, and heat of his chambers. While for travelers it was a nuisance, at the moment, Vittorio saw the terrible weather as an opportunity. If he were to escape, the rain would wash away his tracks and hide his figure.
It would be much easier to leave the tower now than yesterday, when everybody was agitated with Cael and Ginevra's leave. But he still would be close enough to catch up with them.
Vittorio sighed.
But what was the point? He was a second rank mage, as his Mage's Mark showed. A point of pride, but as of recent time, a point of envy, too. Ginevra returned her Mage's Mark with three amethysts. Cael's Mark only had one ruby, but what did it matter when he defeated Ginevra in a fight?
