Kate's heart beat faster. When had it happened? She had fought too hard to keep it from happening. She had no desire to fulfill some ridiculous prophecy, she didn't want to be just a side note in a god's story like every other lover of the gods had.
Cassie watched Kate process it all, when Kate's breath came in short gasps she reached out and pulled her down into a seat, "Put your head between your knees," she started to guide Kate, breathing in and out with her. A few minutes later Kate had caught her breath, she was still shocked but she was at least able to breathe again.
"You know," Cassie rubbed her back warmly, "Loving a god isn't all bad."
Kate tilted her head and raised a brow, "This coming from the mortal whose god lover tried to curse and kill her?" she asked sarcastically.
Without skipping a beat Cassie said, "I am happy that happened."
