Chapter 13 - Bosses. Hunt. Battles

"Hah, another day of no bites, huh?"

A young man with green hair leaned against a ledge as he talked to his two friends.

"It must be nice being like that guy, huh?" The magician of the party leaned on her staff and sighed. "Did you see all those items? I bet he's someone strong."

"Eh?" The tank scoffed. "Are you a kid? All those items would just cancel each other's effects out."

The two others grasped their heads and sighed. It was always like this with their tank. Even though he was smart everywhere else, when it came to matters of general knowledge, he felt like intranet explorer in the era of corner browser.

"Dude, don't you know the super-elite wear a lot of that stuff just for show?"

"Those guys have little to worry about. It's a display of money, money. Kinda like how the user-rich would wear shoes and watches worth millions even though flip flops did the same job."

The magician sighed once more.

"Flip flops and shoes don't do the same job."

"It's the spirit, alright?"

The three of them looked at each other.

And then sighed.

Night was about to pass, the ashy sky of the third floor's mornings had almost already made its way up.

"How many points do you have?" The warrior asked.

"About 10 left…"

"I have 15…"

The warrior shook his head. "7 here."

The currency of the tower had become the points that the tower itself assigned. It had become extremely convenient for the people inside, though attempts to change it reigned yet with people trying to take away the centralization of the tower using blockchain, the chances of it working seemed to be unlikely.

Not because of the tower, though. It was a place for dreamers, if one's dreams could change the functioning of the tower, then none would be more filled with joy than itself.

"At this rate we'll have to eat grass for lunch."

"And maybe dirt for dinner. Should we go back down?"

"Hah…"

Sighs left all their lips. Going back down, was just going to make things worse for people that could do not much other than hunting.

The morning sky had almost risen.

"We need to do something big, soon."

"Is that so?"

It was then, that a voice interrupted all their words.

The three hunters turned their gaze to the side and found the same gaudy man from yesterday donning all his many items. His black hair and piercing gaze were enough to freeze them up, and his stature was not less scary.

But words that spilled from his lips were as sweet as honey, irresistible.

"If you're looking to do something big… How about hunting a monster that has never been taken before?"

"You… are asking us?" The warrior said.

"Yes," the man answered. "You see, I am planning to start a guild of my own. What would be better than finding some trusted partners?"

"Why us?" The magician asked.

"You simply look like you have nothing to lose."

The three hunters shared a gaze.

And then smiled. The man had hit the nail on the head.
