"Show me your eyes," Hayden commanded.
His voice muffled in my ears as a woman pricked me with her needle, I looked at him and changed my eye color.
"Both blue," He looked at me and Sigrid.
Hayden was the Beta who would attain the Alpha position in the pack, when Gerald will be on his death bed he'll requests for Hayden to kill him so he can become the Alpha.
Crazy right? But that's the rule.
You can only become an Alpha when you kill an Alpha, and when a Beta retains an Alpha position most of the pack members would likely challenge him to a duel. If Hayden was killed in the duel his opponent would be the next Alpha.
I also want to become an Alpha, but unfortunately, Omegas are the weakest in the pack, if not for Gerald we would be treated like rags.
"It's impossible to think two Omegas took on an Alpha," Raff spat out.
Raff was third in command, and everyone said he has been with Hayden ever since they were little, just like me and Sigrid. Raff chuckled with his blue eyes staring at me.
"What was an Alpha doing in our territory?" I couldn't help but ask.
The question made Hayden glance at me, but my face suddenly turned red and I stared at the wooden floor.
"He was a stray," Hayden sighed and continued. "I don't know how but I'm guessing he lost control."
"Do you think he might be poisoned?" Sigrid said rubbing her left hand gently.
"What makes you say that?" Raff asked.
"When he came out from the woods he sneezed out some purple substance," Sigrid pointed out.
"Maybe that's why when we got injured, we didn't heal quick enough," I said touching my torso.
"No!" Hayden's voice thundered. "You didn't heal because you were injured by an Alpha the healing process will take more time."
*Horn blows*
"What's that?" Sigrid jolted to her feet.
"We are under attack," I said looking at the building shaking.
The horn was to signify to the Alpha and his Betas that the Omegas were in trouble, but this time the horn sounded twice and that meant war. Hayden grabbed my hand and we ran out of the building, Sigrid and Raff followed behind. We were miles away from the town, and I could hear wolves howling.
"Stop!" Sigrid yelled.
Everyone stopped and we turned our gaze to her, she stood there frozen with her eyes wide open. Raff tried to hold her but Sigrid took a step back.
"Sigrid, what's wrong?" I walked slowly towards her.
"B-b-blo-blood!" She stuttered.
I looked at Hayden and he sniffed the air, the wind blew lightly and the scent of blood filled the air. My heart started racing, and everything suddenly felt like a dream, Hayden noticed that I was about to lose it. He held my hand and told me to take deep breaths.
"Sigrid?" Raff called out. "Let's go okay? We can't stay here, let's pass the Omega territory, so we can make it to Gerald," Raff spoke softly and Sigrid held his hand. The weather was getting windy and snow started falling from the sky.
Snow rests upon the tree branch as if it were a feather cushion, soft and warm. It covers the rich deep wood in perfect white. The snow is a gift wrap only spring will open, revealing the engrained beauty that lives safely below, protected during these long winter months. As the sun rises each morning, bestowing brilliance, igniting colors to vibrant hues.
After reading grandpa's old story books, I always believe that our world was a fictional world created by an author, who derives joy by setting obstacles in our way to amuse his audience. Even if he thinks we are nothing but mere characters he created, Spire Fell was real for me and if he plans on killing the Omegas, he's nothing but a murderer behind a desk.
"No!"
Hayden closed my mouth almost immediately, we hide behind a huge tree and watched how other werewolves killed the Omegas who were weak and could not defend themselves. It was a mascara!
"The Betas turf is right cross," Raff blurted out.
"No one came out to help them!" Sigrid's voice cracked as tears rolled from her eyes.
Hayden stayed quiet as he observed the situation, he turned his gaze to us and lets out a soft sigh.
"Our only option is to run," He said pointing at the gate that separated the Betas from Omegas. "Don't turn into a werewolf, just tap some energy from your inner wolf so you could run faster," He hesitated. "If anyone tries to pick a fight with you, only fight back if you don't have a choice. Okay?"
We all nodded our heads in agreement.
"Wait for my signal," He took a deep breath and my heart was pounding so loud I could hear it beat in my ears.
"Now!"
He jumped out and ran towards the gate, Sigrid followed along with Raff, and I was behind them trying my best to keep up. The pain I felt in my torso was agonizing, I tried to use my supernatural powers but my wolf wasn't responding, my legs got heavy, and everywhere was getting blurry.
My eyes flicked from blue to hazel, and my head was pounding, and I fell to the ground and tried to call out to Hayden but he was far gone. I turned my head slowly and saw a werewolf right beside me, he was drooling from his mouth. He craved blood as he stared at my bleeding torso.
"Please no," I pleaded trying to crawl away from him.
