The next day, Jake found himself distracted by thoughts of his high school crush, Emily. They had gone to school together, but he had always been too shy to approach her. Now that he had his unique ability, he wondered if things would have been different if he had had it back then.
As he sat in the headquarters, lost in thought, he was suddenly brought back to reality by Mia's voice. "Hey, Jake. What are you thinking about?"
Jake blushed, realizing that he had been lost in thought about Emily. "Oh, just some stuff. What's up?"
Mia smirked, noticing the blush on his cheeks. "Is it about Emily?"
Jake's eyes widened in surprise. "How did you know?"
Mia chuckled. "It's written all over your face. You've been staring off into space for the past ten minutes."
Jake groaned, feeling embarrassed. "I can't believe I'm still thinking about her after all these years."
Mia nudged him with her elbow. "Why don't you do something about it? You have the perfect excuse now with your unique ability."
Jake hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement. "You're right. I should give it a shot."
Later that day, Jake found himself outside of Emily's workplace, nervously rehearsing what he would say to her. But as he stepped inside, he was surprised to find that Emily was already waiting for him.
"Hey, Jake. Long time no see," Emily said, smiling warmly at him.
Jake's heart skipped a beat as he realized that she had recognized him. "Hey, Emily. How have you been?"
They spent the next few minutes catching up, and Jake found himself laughing and joking with her like they had never been apart. It felt like no time had passed at all.
As they parted ways, Jake couldn't help but feel hopeful about their future. Maybe he had a chance with Emily after all.
As he walked back to the headquarters, he couldn't help but smile at the thought of what could be. Maybe his unique ability wasn't just useful for fighting crime - it could also help him win over the girl of his dreams.
