Chapter 5 - What A Heavenly Way To Die.

The palace door opens to Micah and the others. Blinding her eyes with the brightness of the dangling lights that she had never glimpsed before. The whites and golden streaks in the walls arch perfectly in the corners and make shapes she doesn't know exist.

Micah's eyes refuse to take off of the heavenly view in front of her, drinking in all the shapes and forms as her legs carry her farther inside.

Heys guides the girls to an enormous stair. It curves flawlessly to the upstairs. Micah takes each step in awe, it's as if all the fear that keeps freezing her veins withers away. She feels hypnotized by the beauty of this place.

When they reach the hallway, there stand three men. Their eyes widen when it falls on Micah, to be exact, her hair. "Is that an Omega?" One of them asks.

With a sigh, Hyes says, "She indeed is." her fingers pointing at my hair, "That was a little adventure for her to get out from our Omega list."

"Then why did you take her here? You could have struck her name from the list." The man with blue hair says, his face crumbling in a frown. "We need the best for the prince."

The insult in his words makes Micah's blood boil.

"Her  family did not let me go without her." Heys reasons. She tugs a hair strand behind her ear and stares at Micah. "If you don't think she's enough. We can send her back."

Micah tries not to water her hope.

"Don't bother. You have bothered enough by taking her here." The other man says, eyeing Micah up and down as if she is a boring piece of cloth that he would never want to wear. "Sent her in as the last."

Micah gulps, tries to breathe, and controls her rising heartbeat. This is all real. She is really going to die. No going back. They had really put a full stop to her sprouting life.

With a wave of her hand at the two men, Heys walks forward to her destination. The girls follow behind her like puppets.

As they walk further in, Micah sees three women she thinks are maids standing between the walls in the far corner. It looks more like a den with the roofs almost hitting their head. They look uneasy when their eyes fall on them.

One of them rushes to them, her fingers clutching to her dress to lift it a little so she won't trip over. "The prince refuses  to spend his rut with anyone!" She exclaims, concern tinged with fear blazing in her green orbs. And Micah wonders what is there to be feared of. Aren't they supposed to be feeling relieved that the poor girls are gonna have a chance to live?

"What?!" Heys gasp. "No…It can't be!" Her eyes widened in horror that Micah doesn't know the reason of.

An agonizing scream slashes through the air and snatches their attention. Something inside Micah twists painfully in that mere voice. It's so brutal that it even pains the listener. She wonders why the prince refuses to spend it with anyone. She wonders if the heartless really have a heart.

Heys runs towards the rut chamber and knocks on the door so hard that Micah is surprised she doesn't break her fingers. "Your Highness! You cannot go through it alone. The Omegas are here. Please let them in!"

A feral growl pierces through the door, making the girls jump out of their skin. "You do not have a say in that! Rescue the Omegas—" A painful cry. "—Leave me alone to die."

A shaky breath escapes through Heys's lips, her eyes riding up to the omegas. She gestures for them to come close. Close to the chamber. Micah feels the dread reappearing and choking her with its invisible fingers.

Micah gulps down the lump in her throat and dares to say, "He clearly said he doesn't want anyone near. Then why do you keep trying? Let us go."

Another scream broke through and Micah is sure she sees Heys's eyes glow with unshed tears. Even she feels a stab in her heart as she heard his scream. Before she knows it, her legs are moving on their own as if it is controlled by someone else. With each step, the smell of rain and pine wood engulfs her deliberately, every cell in her body dancing and her head spinning.

Micah does not know when the door to the rut chamber opened or when the prince came out. She only knows that he is so gorgeous that it hurts and pleasures her at the same time. His glowing eyes—It is blue and golden. One blue, one golden. His full lips part for an unsteady breath as he drinks her in just as she does. His perfectly sculpted jaw clenches as he tries to swallow down a growl.

A growl of want.

He is nearly naked. A sheer piece of white silk barely covers his intimacy. Micah feels like her skin is on fire, the ground beneath her spinning, she sees stars and moon and sun and rainbows and storms all together in his eyes. Her body is like a magnet lured by his iron touch. She just wants to be in his arms.

As if he heard her thoughts, he closes the suffocating gap between the two of them, cradling Micah in his arms.

Micah buries her face in the crook of his neck, drowning in his heavenly scent. Her fingers find their way to his silky hair, drawing shapes in between his hair strands.

His arms circle around her slender waist as he hugs her close to his strong chest. They are so close yet never close enough. Micah's skin vibrates from his enchanting touch, a thousand butterflies fluttering their wings against the bottom of her stomach.

As she stays in his arms, she feels like she got everything she ever wanted in her life.

Maybe Heys was right.

Maybe this is really a heavenly way to die…
