Xing Yu sat on the sofa, gently tapping on the armrest. It was late in the evening yet he was not able to calm down. The second prince, Dican, just looked at him with a deep frown. "Our flight is at midnight. We have to get going to South X City. We might find him there."
Xing's foot gently tapped on the ground.
Dican sighed. "I know you are upset; it's not that kid. But this is not the first time we have gone through this. What makes you so anxious?"
Xing gently massaged his Jedi through the fake skin. "I don't know. I feel anxious…"
"Xing," Dican plopped down beside him. "Did you take a liking to that kid? If so, it's okay. We can cancel your engagement to my younger brother."
"No!" Xing Yu shot up. "We will find him… soon. That human doesn't matter."
Yes, that human never mattered. He was simply just a passing cloud in his life and he shouldn't be bothered about it. Finding his fiancée should be his main goal. Yet still, there was a small voice telling him to go see that kid. When he dropped the boy off, there was an eerie feeling that he might get hurt. 'Why should I be worried if he gets hurt or not? He is a stranger…' Unknowingly, he had started to pace around.
"God, if you want to see him that bad, why don't you go see him!" Dican groaned loudly. "You're acting like a pregnant beast."
Xing glared at him. "I don't care about him."
"Yeah, you don't," Dican raised his arms in surrender. "Can we go now? We have to get to the airport in time."
Xing Yu paused. "Why don't we stay here for a few more days?"
"Nope, not happening." Dican pushed him to his door. "I'm not sure what happened, but you are clearly disturbed. It's better to leave."
Xing intently gazed at him. "I don't feel anything for him."
"I know. Now get changed. We are leaving in ten minutes," he shoved him into the room and closed the door.
Dican sighed. He did not know what came over his friend, but since he came back, he had been prancing around and acting antsy. "Did that young human cast any spell on him?" Because he had never seen his best friend like this in his lifetime. The man usually kept a cold look in his eyes with an expressionless stiff face. But now, he was frowning and mumbling to himself. It was all too weird.
'It's not my younger brother, but why does he feel so distracted by a human boy?' He plopped onto the sofa, holding his slightly aching head. 'He must feel like he was cheating on his bonded mate.'
'What do I know? I don't have one anyway…'
In their world, every child who reached the age of thirteen would embark on a journey to find their bonded mate. Only about ten percent of the population get lucky and find their bonded mate. The rest of them just marry whomever they liked and would settle down. But that connection of their Jedi would never be complete.
Xing Yu was one of those lucky people. He was able to find his bonded mate so young in his life. In fact, it happened at the congratulation party of his younger brother, the third prince's conception gala.
Reminiscing about those memories brought back beautiful memories of his mother.
When his empress mother was pregnant with the third prince, the whole empire rejoiced. Thousands of their countrymen collectively came to congratulate the royal family.
But something even more stunning happened.
The youngest prince, who was still in the young mother's womb, actually bonded with Xing Yu.
Such a situation was practically unheard of.
He could still remember the expression of joy Xing Yu had on his face when he touched his empress's pregnant belly. His Jedi glowed bright blue.
'I never saw him make that expression again,' Dican sighed.
Right after the congratulation party, his mother went on an empire tour. She was supposed to visit three galaxies to gather all the blessings of their people. But something unexpected happened. Her craft had broken down halfway and fallen into a black hole, leading her to this treacherous world.
Dican dazedly gazed out the window. He had no clue what his mother went through or how she died. They only found out about her demise through the small soul stone she had left behind with their father. They had thought they lost the third prince as well. But only a few years ago, they discovered that the third prince was, in fact, still alive.
It was all due to that black hole.
It closed up right after the empress died, making it impossible for Xing Yu to sense his bonded mate.
But when it opened up a year ago, Xing Yu finally said that his mate was alive. That was the reason their exploration began. And now they were here.
Dican gazed at the closed door. To be honest, he could not feel offended if his best friend fell in love with someone else. Actually, it would be better if he loved someone else. Because through the years, he had seen how his cheerful young friend had changed into the stoic expressionless man who lost his mate. He did not wish to see him like that again.
Sighing, Dican looked at his watch. It was ten p.m. "Xing, it's time. Let's go." He opened the door without knocking. To his surprise, the room was empty. "… he ran to that kid."
