7: I'm not Feeling Myself
Carl reached out to turn off his solar alarm clock next to him. He was never a deep sleeper, so even the littlest light could already wake him up.
This morning was quite weird. Starting from this… warm feeling between his legs.
Nope, not like that. He meant his thighs were so warm he started sweating. He flipped the blanket over to find a furball sleeping between his thighs. The werewolf boy who claimed to have responsive ears was now just a Bangkaew lying on the back showing off his white belly and his private part. Carl had no idea how this werewolf ended up between his thighs.
He moved and sat in bed, his sharp eyes looking at Kaew's pinky tongue hanging down at the corner of his mouth. Luckily, Kaew didn't drool over his Egyptian cotton bed sheet. The furball was such a deep sleeper that even though Carl already got out of bed to stare at him, he wasn't moving a single fur. Kaew's pajamas were disorderly piling in bed.
The homeowner sighed softly and smiled while looking at Kaew's four legs flying in the air as if he was running around in his dream.
Even when Carl took a shower and got dressed, the Bangkaew was still sleeping like a baby. Carl decided to head to the kitchen, putting his coffee capsule into the coffee machine while reading the news in the meantime. He was in dilemma whether he should wake Kaew up and bring him to work or let him continue his sleep. Eventually, his secretary texted him to inform him that his car was ready. Carl then walked back to the bedroom again.
"Kaew, are you awake?" He sat at the edge of his bed, his hand patting Kaew's soft fur gently.
"…"
"Kaew, are you coming to the office with me?"
"…"
Silence. The boy slept like a log. It would have been him carrying this furball and running away if there was any intruder at all.
"Alright. I'll see you this evening then," sighed the man, touching the silky fur for a couple of minutes before heading to work.
"Send someone to look after Kaew." Carl gave an order to his secretary once he was seated in the car.
"Yes, boss."
"And bring that new driver to my office." His eyes darkened. Something needed to be done.
His long finger pressed a button to activate the sound-proof window between the driver and passenger seats while one of his crew closed the curtain for privacy. He had to finish this issue right away, though letting a fool like that one around him could also be an advantage.
But whoever hurt Kaew, that idiot needed to learn a lesson. Thinking about how Kaew walked so unsteadily with bruises all over already made Carlso mad that he gritted his teeth. His secretary next to him was shocked by Carl's reaction.
"Do you want me to call the team as well?" He meant the team who dealt with specific 'issues' that the boss might not want to take action on by himself.
"…"
"I've been working with you for 8 years, and there was only one time that I saw you like this, boss," and that didn't end well, the secretary continued the sentence in his mind.
"No, I'll handle this." The man got his laptop on, ending the conversation.
Since Kaew had come into his life, it seemed that his facial muscle had more work to do than before. Carl always knew that he was a man who rarely showed his expressions. All of Carl's employees always talked behind his back that he was difficult to read. Whether he asked them to buy a present or he gave a death sentence to someone, his expression remained the same. Because of Carl's upbringing, he was the firstborn in a powerful family and was destined to be an heir to the family business since he was still in his mother's womb while his two little sisters were raised completely in different ways.
Born and raised in a shady business, he had come to the realization that there was no such thing as sincerity. Everything was about profit and masking their true color from each other. He eventually chose his own mask; a cold, arrogant, and dangerous one. This was the only way he could rule his reign, telling everyone not to cross his line.
Unconditional love was such nonsense.
All of the sudden, the round face and bright brown eyes of someone popped into his mind. A strange boy, no, a strange werewolf promised him protection… I wonder if he is already awake.
His thin lips curled into a smile without him realizing it. The reflection from the window made the secretary next to Carl who was checking his schedule shivered. I should have brought a backup suit. Hmm, this is my favorite one. What if it gets a blood stain and it's impossible to get rid of it? The secretary thought to himself.
What a lucky day for the secretary. His suit was still clean as two black-suited men carried another man who was completely beaten up out of the room.
"Keep an eye on him." Carl pulled his black leather gloves full of blood stains off before handing them to the secretary.
"Yes."
His cold expression and his dark eyes appeared a slight joy. Carl tended to come to the office today to do all the paperwork. But before that, he took his phone out and checked the security camera in his bedroom.
His bed was all tidied up, following the living room, the kitchen, and the garden outside. The last spot was the master bathroom. But there was no sign of the furball.
Kaew ran away!
No way. How could he have opened the door?
Kaew was kidnapped!
Carl jumped off of his seat, looking for his crew. He quickly called someone but nobody was there.
"Get the car. I'm going home. And call the team."
"Uh, what's happening, boss?" The secretary's voice tightened with stress. He was just taking a quick coffee break earlier.
"Someone kidnapped Kaew."
"I'm going to call the person who's in charge of this."
"Now. I'll wait for my car." He ended the phone call bluntly.
"Boss, the team said that he was just taking the dog out for a walk," the secretary reported the situation before anyone could step out of the building.
"…"
"…"
"Alright."
"Are you heading home or staying here then?"
Carl let out a sigh and turned back to his office, couldn't figure out whether he should leave or stay. As his secretary said before, he wasn't quite himself today.
"Get me a tablet for a dog," commanded Carl as he went back to his leather chair.
"Uh, what?"
"I mean a tablet that a dog can use."
"Umm, yes," replied the secretary.
"Get me one. Today."
Carl raised his tone, stressing that he was serious about it before nodding to his secretary to handle the task well. His sharp eyes looked at piles of work in front of him and decided to work harder as he wanted to be home early.
The secretary handed a box of a brand-new tablet to Cark once he was inside. It was only 5 in the afternoon but they were already heading home. He was shocked as his boss had always been a workaholic and would normally stay at the office until late hours.
His speed of work today was quite impressive. Many people were being complained due to the quality of work that could have made some reports even shorter to shorten Carl's time. It came to the point that Mr. Carl needed to call the assistant team for a meeting to debrief on this issue, in order to make the job easier for the secretary.
Carl's thin lips curled into a smile thinking about the creature who was waiting for him at home. That furball must be so excited to see him home early today, wagging his tail like crazy, crying and whining in pure joy, nudging his fluffy head into his palms asking for pets and scratches. From what he read before; it was the best feeling that a dog owner could ever experience. The kind of feeling that washed away your stress and fatigue. It wouldn't take too long until he could experience this feeling by himself. That longing feeling, being the most important person in the world. No. He was being the whole world to that Bangkaew boy.
Mlem mlem
"Hey, don't squirm. Stay still and give me your paw," someone let out a low laugh.
Carl was stunned by what he saw in front of him. A black-suited man who was one of the security team sat on the hallway floor. He held a big towel in his hands while the big black Bangkaew was lying on his lap.
Kaew's wide mouth and pinky tongue worked hard trying to nibble that man's hand as he was trying to dry Kaew's fur. His furry legs were flying around in the air in playfulness. That man burst out laughing again while scratching Kaew's belly which was only an inch away from his private part.
"Stop!" Carl shouted.
In a split second, the whole room went silent. Every single creature in the room froze with that loud and powerful command.
"Good evening, boss," said the man who was now standing up from his position to greet Carl.
"…" The Thai Bangkaew lay still on the floor, his adorable eyes widened as he didn't know what to do.
"Mr. Carl…" The secretary who was following Carl tried to calm his boss down and asked him what happened.
"You all can leave. I need to rest."
The homeowner got a grip on himself and spoke in his normal tone. Within a minute, it was only him and the dog as his secretary and that man from the security team were sneaking their way out politely, swallowing hard. Did he just shoot a dead stare at me?
The Bangkaew flipped himself to stand with his four legs, looking at the man who just took off his suit before heading out to the garden.
Where's his welcome home jump? Where's that dog's happy wagging tail? Carl sighed in disappointment. He was definitely not himself today. He decided to walk back to his room, took a shower, and got changed to calm himself down.
When he walked out of his room, the dinner was served nicely as usual. Everything had to be ready before 6 PM as he assigned his crew earlier. His long legs in a soft pair of long pants walked towards the garden again. With a brief look, he wouldn't see that there was a black-and-white furball curling up behind the bush at the end of the swimming pool.
"Kaew, I see you there." Carl sat on his knees and peeked through the bush, giving the dog some space. From what he read (again), It was important to create a safe environment in order to train the dog. Don't intrude and wait patiently until your little furry friend came to you.
