Chapter 5 - 5: I got you

~Laith~

"The Evil one," I replied.

Prince Zephirin threads his arm around my waist and peers at me adoringly. He flashes his white teeth at me and smiles brightly.

"Your powers won't work on me now that your heart is corrupted," he noted in a sweet almost melodic voice. Yet, the words he spoke brought my world down. A knot twists in my stomach.

The Evil One, the one written in my destiny. The greatest evil to ever walk the earth and the person I'm supposed to defeat was embracing and there was nothing I could do.

While I searched above and beyond for him. He had been here with me, so close yet so far. Watching my every movement and action. Making his presence known to me solely when he knows that I can't cause him any harm. My heart shattered to pieces.

The whole room falls into an uncomfortable silence. Prince Zephirin drapes his other arm around my neck. Forcing me to look into his eyes.

"The weapon created by goddess Rezelna to defeat me rendered itself useless without me having to do anything," he smirked confidently. "I'm grateful to you, Laith. Or should I be more grateful to my brother who dared to tame your pure heart?" he asked.

Prince Zephirin looks down at me. His eyes creased with amusement and surprise. Tears streamed down my cheeks, the Evil One stood right in front of me and I was in no position to fight him.

I closed my eyes.

"Get on with it then," I let out. Bracing Myself to face my end. I was in standing to kill him, that stance was one-sided. He was more than capable of ending my life. Nothing was stopping him from making sure I never become a problem for him in the future.

I clenched my fingers into my palm. Digging my nails into my skin to a point I was sure it would bleed. An attempt to distract my mind from the pain the Evil One was about to inflict on me.

Time went by as I waited for the prince to strike. When nothing happened, curiosity forced me to open my eyes.

My heart skips a beat when Prince Zephirin starts to run his hand over my cheek. Wiping my tears away. A smile lurks at the corner of his mouth as he pulls the elixir box over to the bed.

'A bed?'

My eyes scanned our surroundings to see that we were no more in the holy house but in my chambers. I gulped.

The prince moistens a piece of cloth with a bottle of clean water in the box. He unclenched my hands. Rests an arm on my thigh, then runs the damp cloth over my bleeding palms.

Goosebumps cover everywhere he touches, and my breath hitches in my throat. The prince is kneeling right in front of me. His leg brushes against mine as he worked on tending to my hands.

He grabs a tube of elixir from the box. He applied a dab of the elixir on his finger and then smoothens it over the roughened flesh in my palm. I can't help but close my eyes, overwhelmed by his closeness.

"Does it hurt?" he inquired.

His voice snapped me out of my daze. I glanced down to meet his gaze. His mischievous eyes sparkled as though enjoying my reaction.

"Hmm," I responded and gingerly got up from the bed. "What are you doing?"

His actions puzzled my mind. He was my enemy, instead of killing me he was busy tending to my wounds. The deposed crown prince was the most confusing person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

One moment I can sense anger oozing out of him for me and the next he was tender and caring. Nothing he was going or saying was making sense to me. My mind was chaotic trying to figure him out.

Prince Zephirin snakes an arm around my waist causing my body to tense. Only the second prince had ever dared to touch me so intimately and even he didn't let his touch linger. Zephirin however didn't seem to give importance to who I was and acted as he pleased with me.

"Deciding what to do with you," He claimed in a notch above a whisper beside my ear. His warm breath tickles my neck and heat sweeps up my cheeks. His body touched mine making my pulse to race. "Should I kill you or..." he paused momentarily as though weighing on the impact of his words. Thinking of what else he could do to me. My body became motionless.

The prince was so close to me. The first true physical contact I've had since the day I was declared as the Incirion. The warmth of his body was addictive, it couldn't compare to the chilliness in my heart.

"It's okay, you can let it out," Prince Zephirin urged.

Having him hold me so tightly I broke down. Everything in my life was falling apart. The man I loved made a choice of who to spend the rest of his life with and it wasn't me. A pang of jealousy grows in my stomach at the thought of him belonging to Princess Zakishi.

My heart was tainted with sin. One that corrupted my soul to a point that I might never be able to fulfill my destiny. Thus taking away the purpose of my existence.

"Arghhh," I screamed and curled back into his arms. I cried out and burst into tears. I shed bitter tears over what used to be. My blood ran cold.

My screams echoed in the room. Hot tears clouded my visage as I choked up. My heart was shattered into so many pieces. I don't think that I could ever piece it back together.

Once upon a time, I fell in love and now im only falling apart. Not solely my heart but my mind broke too. It was the worst of my life.

"Saint or sinner, I got you," Prince Zephirin let out.
