Chapter 22 - Divorce Isn’t That Easy

Tang Wei didn't have the time to care about the meaning in his eyes.

Was she wrong? Putting aside her rejection just now, the truth was that she did not want to have a baby so early. She was only 23 years old, and she did not want to stay up late every night to change the baby's diapers and feed it.

It was even more impossible for her to accept that the maids could take care of everything!

Unexpectedly, Old Master Lu did not fall for her trick at all.

When he heard this, he snorted coldly and nagged. "Lu Beichen is already 28 years old. At his age, children should already be running all over the place. They shouldn't even be able to fit in the house anymore!"

Tang Wei was stunned for a second until her father-in-law told her about his experience. She couldn't help but look at her husband who was already 28 years old.

Tang Wei leaned over slightly and whispered, "This is from your own father. You can't run from the thought of having a child."

Lu Beichen glanced at her. After she finished speaking, she had already sat up straight. She still had a standard smile on her face, as if she was not the one who was whispering to him just now.

Lu Beichen sneered in his heart. Who wanted a child? And why? Just to shorten the time they had? How annoying!

Moreover, was there a need for this woman to remind him? He wasn't even that old to be fussing over children!

"My wife is right. We've only been married for a few days, so we won't consider having a child yet. If you want grandchildren, don't my brothers already have many? You don't lack any."

Lu Beichen's words were true. His elder sisters and younger sisters who were about the same age were all married. Those who wanted children had already gotten married. His elder and second brother were also married.

The old man did not lack grandchildren. On the contrary, every time it was New Years, his biggest headache was the children running around on the ground.

When Old Master Lu heard that, he disagreed and said with a sour face, "How can it be the same? Forget it, I won't talk to you anymore. You have to have a child within a year, or you can get a divorce!"

Aunt Cheng said, "Old Master, why are you starting to act like this again? Don't worry about that so much. Hurry up and eat. After eating, we still have to go back to the old mansion."

However, Tang Wei and Lu Beichen exchanged glances. Getting married, getting a divorce, and having children sounded like something so easy to do after Old Master Lu said that. Although it was indeed easy for her to get married to Lu Beichen, when it came to getting a divorce… In the future, they would probably get a divorce just like that. However, there were many factors to consider if they had a child.

After dinner, the two elders went back in the car. Aunt Wang was cleaning up the kitchen.

Tang Wei sat in the living room and raised her voice. "It's supposed to be your holiday, but I asked you to cook. I'm really sorry, Aunt Wang."

Aunt Wang turned around and said, "This is nothing. It's what I should do. Besides, Third Master will give me a tip for this."

"I see." Tang Wei nodded.

Lu Beichen was quite meticulous when dealing with such matters. He had considered everything.

Lu Beichen walked in from outside. He glanced at her and said, "Follow me."

"I'm watching TV, so let's just talk here." Tang Wei stared at the TV screen.

Lu Beichen stopped in his tracks and frowned. Why was his wife so disobedient?

He looked at the kitchen again. "Aunt Wang, you should rest early after you're done cleaning up."

"Okay." Aunt Wang replied.

Lu Beichen walked toward the sofa and sat down.

"What did you want to say just now?" Tang Wei took advantage of the break between the TV series and the advertisement.

Lu Beichen pursed his lips. You're quite good at making things up today. You said I was the one who chased you?"

Tang Wei frowned, "Then what else? I can't be the one who chased you, right?"

When Lu Beichen heard this, he frowned as well.

"Why can't you be the one who chased me? If someone were to compare between the two of us, it would be more logical for you to be the one who chased me!"

"No, no, no. If it was really in real life, an invisible person like me wouldn't dare to pursue a big shot like you." Tang Wei said seriously.

What Tang Wei said was true. In C City, she had only seen a dozen or so rich people in the Tang family's wealthy district. They were considered multimillionaires. However, she had never seen a big shot like Lu Beichen. There were even people who did not even know who Lu Beichen was. When they saw a photo, they would only say that he was good-looking.

Every time she wrote a script, she would try to figure out what the President character in her story would look like. She had tried using Lu Beichen's features before as a guide. At that time, there were only a pitiful amount of photos of him around, and that was already from her searching for them through illegal methods!

When Lu Beichen heard her belittling herself, he agreed with her. In the huge East Continent, if not for an accident, they would not be people from the same world.

He and Tang Wei would not be living under the same roof, and there would not be a page in the household register where his wife was Tang Wei.

"Anyways, your performance today was alright," Lu Beichen said.

"Thank you for the compliment." Tang Wei said with a smile and turned to look at the TV series that had just ended.

After waiting for a while, the man beside her still had not left. She twisted her butt uncomfortably. With Lu Beichen around, she really could not watch television peacefully.

Hence, she asked, "Do you have anything else to say?"

"Is the show you're watching good?"

"..."

"Okay, look..."

Lu Beichen raised his hand and scratched his eyebrows. He said softly, "Don't worry about the child issue. I will always respect your opinion."

Tang Wei was stunned for a second when he mentioned the matter about having children again. She almost lost her breath.

Listening to Lu Beichen's words was really frightening because of her overthinking.

Since he respected her decision to not have a child, then she had no problem with it.

But at the same time, she did not want to divorce and become a widow so early because of an issue over having children.

She was only 23 years old!

Tang Wei said, "Thank you. I don't want to have a child so early."

"Yes." Lu Beichen said calmly. He did not want children either. It was troublesome.

Tang Wei watched the TV series with one eye and looked at the man with the other. She then suggested, "Do you want to watch a TV drama together?"

'If you don't want to, then just go away already.'

Lu Beichen stood up and smiled. "I don't watch boring dramas. I recommend you watch American dramas and financial news."

"...No need."

Tang Wei ignored the man.

Lu Beichen raised his eyebrows and went upstairs. He complained in his heart. The shows Tang Wei enjoyed were boring to begin with. It was all about family matters, and the mother-in-law was always making things difficult for her daughter-in-law…

However, on second thought, Tang Wei probably wanted to learn how to manage the family and get on good terms with Old Master and Aunt Cheng from all those dramas she has watched. This much was understandable.

Lu Beichen took out his phone and instructed Xiao Chen to buy a novel similar to the dramas she enjoyed.

If Tang Wei received such a book, she would definitely be very grateful to him, but he did not need her gratitude. After all, this was what he should do as her husband.

A few days later, Tang Wei's hair was a mess and she had dark circles under her eyes. She stared at the delivery boy with a pitiful gaze and her forehead was filled with black lines.

The delivery boy couldn't help but think, 'It must be quite difficult marrying into a rich family.'

At nine o'clock in the evening, Aunt Wang approached Tang Wei with a bowl of noodles.

Tang Wei was so engrossed in the drama that she forgot about Aunt Wang who was busy in the kitchen. She saw the old lady putting the noodles on the coffee table.
