"The current principal is Maxus Silverwind, he's said to be an honest and compassionate man, he's also regarded as one of the strongest men alive, if not the strongest."
'Maxus Silverwind eh? So he's the man in charge
He wondered what this all-powerful man was like. Landon said he was supposedly a good guy, but Kian could never be too sure, especially since neither of them had met him.
There was a chance he abused his reckoning power; if that was the case it would be rather troublesome.
"Maxus Silverwind, I do wonder what type of man he is."
Kian said while resting his hand on his chin, he knew there were strong people in this world. Albeit he didn't know how truly strong they were; different types of fantasy stories in his world ranged from slightly superhuman strength to universe-shattering abilities.
If all goes well then these powerful people will become his allies rather than his enemy.
Because whether he liked it or not he'd need some help to figure out the secrets of this world.
The last thing he and Luna needed was some mighty god-like being who had a nation under their control with armies at their disposal to become their foe.
He finally threw these meaningless thoughts to the side as Landon continued.
"In the world right now there are estimated to be around 150 masters, he is one of them; on top of that he has the fifth tier that has been passed down for ages."
Kian was in a trance of thought.
Only 150 masters are alive and he is one of them, plus he has the great Magnus's mystic brand; he sounded like a force to be reckoned with.
On the other side of the circular table sat Luna; whose face was still filled with perplexity.
When she Heard the term "master" it sounded like this man was rather strong, but hearing that he is only one of a few hundred added a level of intensity to it.
She didn't know much about Mystic brands and magic. She only knew the very basics that Kian explained to her, so she didn't know how to feel about this talk about an Archon of Arcana and different tiers.
So she decided it was best to stay quiet and let them talk. Kian was using this situation to gather valuable information, and he'd fill her in when he got that info.
Yet her decision was thrown to the side as her curiosity took over.
"Ehhh so is this Maxus guy all that powerful?"
Landon turned his head towards her; he had a stern look on his face which lingered for a moment before he nodded.
"He truly is, his power was noted to be something revolving around gravity, truly a strange force. On top of that, he has the realm of awakening, the Silverwind clan, plus Silverwind academy under his control; that's why people say he has just as much power over the kingdom as his majesty."
Landon replied.
The Azarules and the Silverwinds are the clans that set humanity on the right path.
Azarule was the bloodline of nobility, which harbored the nation's king; they led through example and strong political decisions. They were like the kingdom's shield, protecting their very existence and keeping it maintained.
Silverwind was a bloodline built on power, they are the strongest clan ever. They led through self-discipline and strength. They were the kingdom's sword, cutting down any nuciences while displaying their strength contently, keeping any enemies on edge.
Alone these two may not be strong enough to lead the world into light, but when put together they are a near-impossible force.
And they serve as Mythoria's sword and shield.
These two clans were the perfect fit to run the kingdom.
"So this fifth tier that he has… I know it awakens one's mystic brand but what exactly does it do?"
If they were going to attempt to attend Silverwind Academy it was best to learn more about the one in charge.
"Well for starters, the power is called the realm of awakening."
'Mystic brands have names?'
This was new information, though when he put deeper thought into it, the perfect sense was made.
"The power essentially drags your soul to a realm where you complete a trial to unlock your brand."
"What happens if one fails this test? Do they die?"
That would be quite troublesome.
"What? No, if you fail you just wake back up without the brand. Every trial is different and their difficulties vary; one person may have a rather simple task while another is sent through hell."
Despite Luck being rather bipolar towards them, he hoped that they all got the easy task.
Nonetheless, It was somewhat calming that they didn't have to fear for their lives if they did this.
Well, so far Kian couldn't help but notice how different this world is compared to how he initially imagined a fantasy world.
Instead of fighting dragons and feigning for their lives, they were enjoying a nice chat over pasta.
No life-altering threats presented themselves as of yet, it was fairly calm.
However, he didn't want to speak too soon, one life of his had already been ripped away so he preferred to not jinx anything.
It may be possible to live a simple life as they had up to this point, but if they decided on that then it would be impossible to get back home.
Sooner or later they'd have to leave their comfort zone to achieve their goal.
"When one fails they aren't allowed to attempt to unlock it again until a year, hence why there are so many students taking the entrance exam every year, a lot of the time it's previous people who have failed."
That explained why there were more than 5,000 entries from across the world every year.
"I see, so could you just keep taking it over and over again every year until you pass? Couldn't Maxus just do it for everyone so we could all get a mystic brand?"
If this was the case then Maxus could build up an army of Mystics in no time.
"No, firstly the ability requires tons of magic, after using it Maxus is usually incapacitated for a few weeks at least, he's only a fourth stage using a fifth stage power. Not to mention there is an age requirement for the ability to work, one has to be 16-20 years of age or the ability won't work. His ability is very well documented and a well brought up the topic of discussion in the magic world."
"Age requirement? Why would it have one?"
"It's unknown why, some theorized it's because sixteen to twenty is the prominent and most common age when Mystic brands tend to unlock, although Maxus himself stated he believes it's because he isn't strong enough."
The age where the Mystic brand was most commonly awakened was between 16 and 20, Kian and Luna were both 17, Luna's birthday was July 9th while Kian's was October 4th, She was older than him by a few months.
So they fell into this range perfectly, they didn't know how old Landon was but they both assumed he was relatively close to theirs.
"And possibly the most important reason why Maxus makes sure to keep his power in check is because of other people rather than himself."
"Other people? Why would that matter?"
"Well think about it, if he went around giving everyone mystic brands it would only be a matter of time until a wild manic gets crazy strong and causes chaos to the townsfolk. Currently, there may not be any kingdoms at war but that doesn't mean the world is at peace, people who uphold their power for the greater good are just as common as people who abused their power for personal gain."
The world was rotten with bad people just as it was in his world, in every plot of land there lay dead soil spread throughout.
It was best to keep these rotten apples at a minimum.
Anyhow, One thought had been lingering in Kian's mind throughout their meal, something that was slightly unsettling to Kian.
It was just that Landon knew so much about everything, just how far did his knowledge expand?
Kian and Luna both had high college-level intellects in their world, but they were at the top of the top.
Landon, who spent plenty of time in the fields seemed to have a plethora of knowledge.
He had said he spent his free time studying but even then it was impressive, he had to have been very intellectual for his age, especially since Kian and Luna both agreed
But if he was going to gladly answer their questions obediently then it didn't matter.
So since he was answering them he wanted to know more about Landon himself, they had required enough info on the topics at hand, not to mention they were starting to overstay their welcome at the restaurant.
So he prepared a few more questions.
However, when he opened his mouth he was cut off.
"Wait, Mystic brands have names?"
Speaking up from the other side of the table was once again Luna.
This thought slipped out of Kian's mind entirely, the power was labeled "The realm of awakening" which made sense since the ability was about awakening one's Mystic brand.
Landon turned to her before answering.
"Well, it'd be pretty hard to keep track of things if they didn't. The user of the brand knows the name once the ability is used, it's sometimes complicated and sometimes very simple, it all depends, though I can't tell you from experience… since I don't have one I'm in the same boat as you two."
That made sense.
It would get chaotic if they couldn't keep track of who had what ability.
It was much safer as well, criminals could be identified and handled more fluently if their powers were known.
It seems this world had a very methodical way of working alongside magic.
