"We are still alive." Leana announced to those here, "And there always a way." She barely can move from aching all over but she peeled back the roofing with wrapping fiber glass insulation from underneath. Her posing it as a help to the situation. They all stare at her like she was mad.
"Since when do you speak at all?" She huffed in recall of her chooses to be mute.
"I speak because I believe. I am talking because I know have to when your all so desperate but defeated." She casts stare around to everyone, seeing new and old people.
The way her gaze fell made everyone assume she was now in charge. Three folks started getting more roof insulation from the holes of the damaged roof. She nods and takes the old TV air cable from the chimney, using it as rope with dragging things that float to them. They work silent focus and together.
"When that tree falls, this water will be electric and if we go in. We are going to die. The roof insulation is fibre glass it will not, in theory, conduction electric through the make shift raft. Wood too but it's wet, so there a chance it can. We aren't taking chances that we can minimise." She sees everyone thinking and speaking up. Some are making the raft from the gathering bits. Some are still collecting useful items; be it any scrap of supplies like safe water and food. Everyone finds something to help do, even those of less mobility were holding or piling bits. A phone went off with a local rescue reporting a slow down of progress to reach the hardest hit.
"Get back!" It is Matthew to pull her from the what seemed a log had turned out to be a gator. It swam opposite ways from them as it now realises that it's a group of humans then a single one. Plenty of bugs and reptiles are trying to climb above the raising water and soon this roof is not high enough for them all. Having to force themselves to take trust with the unfinished raft. Empty cans and wire used like rope, anything like plastic lining and padded with the roof insulation and covered again. Once everyone was on, it was already knee level even while stood on a roof. Whole houses submerged underneath. Make shift wood paddles push what can or using the water resistance to move them. They all looked back as suddenly the tree that held the live electric wire was being sunk under. Everyone was putting effort to get away from the water force.
"Sink hole." She nods accepting. They all stare on so many stages of emotion. But together on a mission to survive as a group. They all see lights of orange at a far distance and make themselves go that way. As it was hope. But Matthew trembling points the many floating extras and everyone knew to go around. Leana takes care at lifting a metallic pole from the water. Once lifted and no lift of jumping electric. She takes hold of it.
"What are you doing!" She looked around at how they weren't insulated at all from voltage and been luck this far.
"Who here has a pace maker?" She asked and none own up, "it about to malfunction if you don't speak up." Someone hands up at showing, "If you feel it, speak up. Because as much it was best effort to keep us safe. We are unfortunately might kill those trying to save us." They stare confused.
"So your saying we all on live wire?" She takes the metal pole and pokes it a street lamp. It lit bright and sparked, "How!"
"I guess no one pays attention in science class." She shurgs, "We safe because we are touching the raft. The second we are grounded on bare skin... it will pass through and kill us. I picked this pole hoping to use it instead of ourselves. That the electric can arch avoiding us. I want to guess the use of cable for tieing the raft is adding factor for why we are frying." They all clump together and adrift of just letting the water carry them any direction. Matthew stares at the far horizon of how power is cutting in places but these places are infested with wildlife and scared left behind animals.
"The electric is saving us from other problems." He voiced in pointing out and others see it too.
"Silver lining." She shurgs. She the only one playing with the metal pole, while holding the other end of the cable she uses as a lasso. She able to use zap threats away or pull potential things of use closer. Her brother in death uniform stands the water surface, crossed arms and impressed by the depth of smart but stupid this is. The water is finally lowering and a phone sparks a new message. That renewal effort to seek residence is in action. A location provided.
The longer she was among them, the feeling of what and how comes invading back at her front thoughts.
One third of these people including myself are pretending to be normal. There is mage trying to use water casting to push this raft along. There a guy that keeps holding the face in place, shivering in the burning light. At this rate, the normal people are going to suspect strange things. But I guess surviving this has everyone distracted.
"That way." Someone points at a area empty of creatures and is the fourth floor of a high car park block. No one really questioned where this is and how they floated here. Exiting the made raft onto concrete. Leana the last to get off, was most able to lift everyone else to safety first. She pulled through amd everyone sits at the floor. Taking a rest from all the adrenaline. Few even going to a nap on the stone floor from how intense they been. It wasn't long for the more able to find cars and break in for supplies and blankets. Just anything. This car park has others that came from the floods too.
Black suits... mage tower has a play in the rescue crew. It wouldn't surprise me that they caused it too. Group of mages using flood to cover up some other mage issue.
"Thank the gods." Some pray and she huffed but also nods at this notion. It would be some way agreeing to make that prayer. The normal people are separated quickly and sorted with the the normal authorities. There was an unspoken sort of nods, if you in the know - you stayed here.
"I need some time to recover before moving." She excused left hand waft of those assuming she was normal, "I feel a little sea sick." She stares at those not normal here and leans into the wall. No further provoking.
"Welcome back." Some greeting old pals. But she stays alone, seated all the same. Staring at strange things that no one else does. She looked at her own hands remembering her abilities to soul remove things. Considering it for the nightmare intensely peering into her. She makes a very clear notion of breathing and presences. Purposely stretched and yoning. It shivered in getting that she was 'grounded'.
"You're not in the system."
"I am a path walker. I am in the other system." She tells the mage, "Ask a god follower." There a long strange stare, "My soul hides well in flesh, that's all you need to understand." The frown of disbelief, "You know a cursed person when you meet them. I am no different. OK?" They nod at that and take record. She sees some the family has been assumed normal and left her behind. Even Matthew. So likely there was something bad about these mages of this tower. Enough to evade service by them. Gladly she can handle herself.
"Are you damned?" She faced the speaker and with clear pin point of its eyes.
"You don't want to ask stupid questions. You don't want to mess with me. I am a plague of bad fortunes. I am the ringing noise long after the moment is past critical." She gets herself off the dirty floor and rings wet out of clothing. She wiggled a brow and walked ignoring the illusion traps that maze this car park. Straight to the elevator and without care of who was already inside. The devil himself could be there and she welcomed herself at the side enjoying the same ride.
"You." Omens paper vessel, the one made of praying slips. The vessel always fears her, this portion of his soul has always leery that she be no different to other Seers.
"Yo man, you looking paper fine." She elbow bumps the vessel, "The dark one with neon woke me up at the sands again." She sees his not impressed as always, conflicted of himself. She doesn't ignore death beside, "Do you like reading the crazy stuff people write on the Internet? Sometimes early books are written there before publication into paper copies." Death is all frozen to the spot of her direct look at him. But she then looked back at Omens, "Anyways gents, I am off to some boring business. One of my wolves cries, and thus I must bring myself to the undertakers realm courts." Death posed a hand of wanting her attention and she gives it freely of listening to him. He said nothing, just a hand gesture. She smirks, "You're a lovely old friend, Death. But like you of your own children. I have to look after mine." He closed hand in statement, "I will pry Ersa jaw open to remove Zeus again. The all might Zeus needs to not take strolls among the mortal world. He will run out of bodies at this rate." She throws her left hand and leaving the elevator.
"Leana is a broken and unique soul. Her knowledge is because she is." Death tells Omens, "Her calm to contorl god eaters is why I hire her. That and her talent of fixing things... especially souls and pages. The one Seer that doesn't fame for power and rather yields." Death leaves through the next elevator floor, "Protecting us from brokenness." Omens shook at this and then realised death left when she left. That she was the threat death watches often at arms length. There is now a grasp of how to use Leana in getting deaths attention.
"Back in this restaurant." She takes spot. Not a care of who she joined the table of. She came to this spot because of her chameleon.
It was a drawing eating the table scribble right here. So her hands scooped the fragile creature to her plams. She started humming and it hums with her. Pretending to be in a breeze swaying on her arm. She gives it warm and it sighed. Hissing but then soon sleeping.
"Lady Noctorm in human flesh." Speaking a demon that knew from one look at her.
"Miss Seer." A human corrected.
"I prefer Fallown." She smiles at of playing with the sleeping reptile in her arms, her fingers at the club fold foot or long whip tail. She softly runs the nose to crown of the creatures head and it awakes. It takes a white stripe along its sides and pelts it in slow chameleon fashion. She sees it off, sunk into the drawing world as moving art.
"Well I prevented your death, it was a close call." She removed paperwork needed and files the grim reaper crystal panel with all necessary information. She pats the demons shoulder in good measure of checking them over and leaves the table. They stare stunned of her leave.
"I nearly died?" The demon finally realized of her exiting, "This realm is definitely not for spirit people." Leaving.
"Oi, my contract." The Darkwoods mage hissed. The demon provides a cursed object for the mages objective and is gone. The mage is displeased of the demon cheap trick and makes do with such outcome. The spy a table across the distance leaves quickly to pass information, an undertaker hissed of there being creatures of Noctorm among humans. That one the most powerful of them is in human flesh; a Seer Fallown. It wasn't news but that she was active is.
She bypassed the security to the mage side of this mall tower. The side that's the mage village then the shops. Her intent was the god followers and oath hunters of Sigil.
"Sorry." She shoulder bumps a Glader and even with a little wink left him an amulet of god protection in pocket. The sheer flabbergasted of everyone seeing someone brazen to shoulder bump a mage king was stuck on the spot to chase her. The bark of a Darkwood made everyone active, foiled some plans of assassin attempts.
"Leana!" Her arm snapped up by her mothers gaze. The sheer shock of seeing her daughter here and now. There was waves of emotion and questions. But Leana knew from the ranks indicator marks and the uniform of a monarch undertakers realm.
Leana smiles, hand posed to warm greeting her mom. Eyes matching love and warmth. But there is pull away and a cold stare at the floor. A posed hand of silence and waving goodbye. Her mother steps to follow in confusion but grandpa leading the group pulls his daughters shoulder. Shaking in not to play with his granddaughters affairs. He knew with his creed and those of his spy work that Leana was someone not to mess with.
"Let those that work in darkness to be at their work." He voiced over her wish to argue, "We should not hire someone for tasks like this." Meaning there is a greater distance between granddaughter and them, "She's why death gods turn away from us."
"The mission." The lover voiced and they continue with having to ignore Leana. Joseph having stood in witness of this, watched how Leana was actually going the same place they were. He rushed in taking grandpa side and gives that shake of nothing simple.
"How's the tributes this time around?" Leana over cast her voice over everything and everyone inside the court house. Breaching past the security, right through double doors of the gallery and over the public fence. She posed her right hand to the leader. That his her warm and strong.
"Beloved lady. You looking so healthy and normal." Petting her. He peels away in realizing his overstepped his ranking. She cared not and returned a equally back breaking hug. She melts a little in the reminders of love coming from many places. She head locked and knuckle messed the top of the head of the man with wolf head.
Once they are done play fighting each other, exchanging corpse parts and disturbing items was followed. She taken a liking to hugging a skull clear of all flesh, the head of a feline creature the most.
"What is this? What are you doing?" The clueless ones at the convinced side. The defense was mostly empty. But with the throw of the court doors again. Her family was there taking seats. Here at the defence of one the British undertakers that is family.
"Miss Fallown. Can I assume you are going to waver this case for us? It's be less paperwork and we don't mind." The judge speaking to Leana. She sees that it's Seer against the British kid.
"Whats the summary of this case?" She asked in return and one the wolves leaned whispers it all to her. Once it was all told, she gives a thumbs up and the gavel slams.
"Seer is guilty. This is a human court case. Pardon is at play." Judge tossed the file to the assistant.
"What!" The disbelief of the demons at the accusing side. The up roar of the gallery being torn in how this close case wasn't closed the way of justice.
"Miss Trixie Trickster. Would you take hire case for us?" The judge pleads.
"Why not? I pity you being bored of the courts around the humans." She approached right up to the desk, "I will take hire as an oath court hunter, payment as my ranks allow. But you will have to accept the potential consequences of hiring a mythical Cog. That I am outsider and not." She makes a lot of other typical clothus and anti slavery gesturing. Keeping it as a hire work case. The judge let's her finish and pushed the stack. She sunk the stack to her glass panel and plenty of them automatically returned. The judge nods accepting this result. She moved away.
"Grandfather." She swiftly makes the distance and right to him. She hugs him and then cursed him. It's not a bad curse, but a protective measure. The side affect was Morpheus eating any dreamers attached, "This wound closed good enough." She meant his left hand in wrapping, "But enjoy a slayer delight be sure. To many varieties out there, it will help."
"Leana, what did you do?"
"I have pardons with god courts. The judge used my pardons in exchange of services. The wolves are some the things I am the guardian of. Given their soul names are in my tomes. The gentleman that broke a norm of some play among humans. Well... he will suffer a punishment of Krama. It's not my game." She makes repairs to his walker path kit, a sewing needle suddenly at her hands as she has his attention. She flicked the thread with cutting it. Needle put away
"You're still the commander of company. I am not available for hire but I will make time if you need me. We know I am not." She lets him go, "Love you grandpa."
"Always Leana." He sighed and they make move with speaking to the undertakers around and what exactly the verdict meant. She goes back to the wolves.
"Can we eat him?" The leader asked.
"Mmmm?" She stares of who they meant, "Don't eat the enders. The living ones are a hassle and to chewy." They all stand ready, "You think those organs are work market value?" They all lurch and there was blood all over. She pets the feline skull, watching the dogs at hunt, "Loki stop eating the wolves!"
She hissed and there is pause of all sides. The fake bird spat out the wolf it was trying to eat. She waves and Loki crawled itself to her. Up her leg and licks her face. She waved the wolves to continue. They do so at cautious stare of Loki. The mock death god bird carrier of white, grey and speck black.
"I will kill you!" She heard screamed from among undertakers and as she evaded them. Loki ate them. She clicked her tongue and all that heard ran away. The half broken undertaker at feet stared shocked.
"He didn't eat your soul. That's very sloppy of him." She puts her foot at their chest, "Say Morpheus. Would you like some?" She asked the skull in her hand and smiles as she did hear a reply, "You fat cat. I just have to spoil you." She claws out the core of the undertaker and feeds it to the skull in her hand. The corpse decaying into ashes. She lets free Morpheus to her feet.
"Leana! You can't go a death gods job!" Joseph pushed to her front.
"I didn't. I did my purpose. I am the sorter of souls. Those convicted of crime are left to the wolves. I am the one protecting the wolves. Souls sometimes need force action to stop them whinging. He came to me with intent and I met with my own opinion. Reaction to all action." She sees his lost this word battle.
"Creep." She smiles at this.
"Love you too brother."
"You're face is falling off." He was joking but she took it seriously. Removing her mask off and hand touch checking the condition. He backed off in fear, picked off the by grandpa. She puts it on with some posed checking. The wolf leader nods that she's fine.
"Leana... what are you?"
"Cog oath." She shrugs, "A keeper of the broken ones. My tomes span many realms and many souls." She straighten into her undertaker habits. There wasn't even a show of life about her. She then sighed and humanised a lot.
"Queen of the boundaries unknown." She rolled shoulder in having heard this a few times by strangers before, "Please tell me what is the meaning of your crest?" She narrows them with scrutiny. They seem unworthy of her hassle and so she left hand wafted they it wasn't their business. Her steps were clothus speech, criticism of being to fragile.
She gave throw of some treats to all the wolves. Leaving this court house. Hands at her back and with pride to facing some sense of being tied to interesting entertainment. She couldn't help a twisted smile of feeling happy to be needed. To be a part of the network of this complex systems.
"What are you playing now?" Always the displeased at her heels and disapproving of her existence. Ever since her name was removed before, they all always distrust her.
"Finally getting what I always wanted. Being a background person pushing court documents. Finally being allowed as free to be me and yet not be a terror to everyone around me. I am only dangerous to those that rank enough to read my sigil entry." She soften at taking a good stare over them all, "I don't know one which crest your asking about. I have plenty of them, all a fragment."
She brushes her own shoulder off, as something lands there that was not her creatures. It fell off in shock of her knowing it was there. She left them behind to sort out some easy pick up court files. She especially stops to give a respected nod to the damned around here and help them. As it was their cases going no where. She accepted anything that wanted to provide forwards, she would verify the details with god followers or spying on some gods. She held quite the heavy stack around to the evidence counter. Hands deep at protecting the evidence and analysis of it. This is where she is shuffled among hunters and mages, lost to being in the background.
