She sits at the back, listening to the learning of the whole corridor. Several school sessions of differing English classes. She sat in the grade she should be at but the paper on her desk was exam practice for final exams. She gives eight of them a go. One each period. She didn't leave at lunch or break. Alone staring at the outside from the window. She is entirely isolated and removed from everyone else. None approached her for anything. Even pens that rolls on accident weren't picked up. She returned them with shadow. The evening falls and she finally lowered her hood.
"You have a fall out with your mom?" Omens in the seat ahead of her. He must have been there not long.
"She some glass to shatter." Leah moved her hand to evade a light beam, "I am totally healthy but if I came to her. She will think I am dying." Leah leaned mirroring Omens, "Did fate send you? I also felt our thread change. She always preferred mother and children to get along." Omens breaking the mirroring action with crossed arms. Pouting that it hit the nail in the head, "It's just complicated. I love my mom, no matter what. My love has never changed. I always tried to be her example when it came to my own." Leah leans looking outside once more, "It's nice to feel their threads too." She indeed was taking in. Knowing love.
"Children... you?" Omens forgets that Leah has memories of other tomes. She had even laughed a little at Omens as she expected that strange expression.
"Of course not this lifetime yet." Leah gets up properly. She pulled the exams neatly and delivers them to the teachers that would mark them. Well, to their desks when they can. Omens walked following her. Crossed arms with not getting it.
"You should go interven with Joseph. He needs a sparring partner." Omens turned corridor of a direct away. She stops but then just followed him. He leans at the stairs pointing to the gym hall. She walks on down.
"I just hope I don't end up on nightmare pay for it." She waved left hand in accepting the task. Omens looked up the stairs in how she avoided worse events. It's not time for her tangle. She already crossing the short cut to the gym, picking up a training wood sword.
"Why?" Matthew complained to Omens.
"What do you mean why? It's her grandpa that your chasing the past of. She makes act weird." Matthew stares at Omens lengthy for that odd comment, "You don't need his scythe yet. We can at least be grateful she acts ahead of the enemies." She hangs the cloak at the door. Petting it since she doesn't want it ruined. She enters with the sea of others. Joseph seated at the floor.
"Come on pout." She offered her left hand to him and helps him off the floor, "Your sister is here to mock you. Got give me a run for my money." He seems to lost his anger of others quickly. He had even laughed at seeing her properly.
"Sheesh. I didn't know your were a secert cripple. That hole." She smacked him for that.
"I am a hybrid. You get flaws like holes. Maybe I should give you one." She jabs the wood sword in his gut. He laughed at that. His finally brightened up. They walked around to a spar space, "You can't knock me out but you aim for the right spots and I can be paralyzed." She takes pose and he laughed at her for looking stupid. But he takes her on. Finding her reflex freaky fast. So he picked up pace. The wood swords clattering loudly. The rest of the class froze in terror of seeing the so called sibilings. Gossip and speculation. Several then realizing she's from the English classes. The main four that knew her from the front gate stare wanting a turn too. Thinking she going easy on him. Joseph calls stop as she aimed the tip at his throat. The Darkwood went to step forward but the glader pushed them behind.
"Spell caster, what elements do you use?" Demanding a reason for why she stronger then a glader.
"It doesn't matter. You could be stronger than me if you understand magic. It's how you use what there is, if you are strong enough to make it flow your will. A dangerous method that kills humans." She stabilized her standing with sword at floor, "I am just cursed. Can't you tell?" She makes fire dance her finger tips and puts it out quickly. The glader went for it and she dodged this. The lack of her effort on the glade was clear. She was giving her best for Joseph to learn. She not even lifting the sword for the Glader. Once the Glader stopped in feeling defeated for now. The teacher posed in wanting a fight. She studies the demon a bit and sighed. She shrugs.
"What are you staking on this duel? You want a name? Take some power? What is your intention? You think I just roll over because of your authority? I respect teaching and opportunity. But what are you teaching them? What is beating my but up going to give as a result? Is it worth that pride?" The demon had nothing to say and she sighed again, "Well if you disarm me, it's a win. If one forfeit, the other wins. The gym hall internal space is all we need. Injuries to witnesses will have penalties. Maybe add some sinner chains. How strong will it take to carry the sin you have?" She sees there no reaction and she deep studies into them, "Tapeworm huh. Yeah. I could remove you. Give the kids a nightmare to never forget." That's when it flinched. She finally smiles with not keeping a human shape. It lowered the sword and backed away. She glares it into the eyes, the host is in fight flight. Scrambling out of here. Breaking the duel. She huffed in making a frown.
"Well then. Boring. I was interested in what a worm would do with power." She turns to the kids, "Alright folks. I feeling gracious. Stand in line if you want to learn from me. If you don't want to listen to a 14 year old, then piss off. You go do whatever. If you want to get in trouble with the demons for not attending class then so be it." Gladly they all willing to over look her age and position. She got on with teaching spirit people fighting.
Thus far, they been fighting humans and expect human reactions to win duels. This is different for a demon, angel or undertakers. And this was the a basics class that any sigil walker learns or could take with a sigil guild pocket. Everyone took something from this class, they all were better practicing. Even as evening low speaker hum (as they don't want to use the bells in the evening classes), brought the end of class. Folks heading the the spare changing rooms or were heading straight for the dorms. Leah is walking back alone to the church, she sees someone took the cloak. She did worry about it but she doesn't fuss. Since, she knows her shadow storage was untouched and nothing was pick pocketed.
"Freak!" The Fallown and had used the cloak to beat her here. Likely this was to make her burn in the light as a damned. Light doesn't harm her, it just cold. Even now, she shivering and brushing her arms. She moved forward and took back the cloak, "How are you even not burning, witch?" She puts the cloak back on, she casts a magic that cleans and purification over it. It breaks any curses over it. She minds not that it altered into creamy grey. Only that she felt better in it.
"Maybe your the freak." She leaves the Fallown by four steps. The kid stopped time around them. Went to run at her with a knife. She stepped aside and let's them skid across the floor. Scrapped up from the concrete. Knife skids away, since they lost grip of it. She steps around and stomped on the knife, as the kid scraps to reach it.
"I will be paying you visits, child." Her aged voice crept into a whisper at the ear, "You bully the weak, maybe the weak will kick your ass." Mask breaks human shape, presenting a long sharp tooth grin. Upon the mask float from her face, left behind isn't a face at all. The kid screams and she claps time back for them both. Kid peeing on the floor where they sat. Knife left there. Leah puts her hood back, back to walking to the church.
"Maybe never mess with something that makes gods shiver." A passing demon misunderstood the scene, "There aren't just undertakers, us demons and angels out there." Picked them off the floor, "Even the damned seem tame around that."
"What? That was a student here." The kid babbles in not being able to stand.
"I know. She is considered a guardian protection detail. She just has a human life too." Carries the kid back to the dorms, "Maybe not messing with things beyond us is for the better. The god's have been keenly active here. It always attracts them like her." The kid burst in tears sobbing. Demon rolls eyes as he didn't want to be on baby sitting duty but really there isn't a choose now. He can be grateful of the opportunity that Leah gave. To use this fallown to spy into the cult activity. As really why else would they have the school in joint effort of the four oldest lines. He looks back a little, seeing she also did so too. He straighten properly and quicker to the dorm. She totally heard the demon talking to the kid.
"Soon I will be a school myth." She pumped at this prospective nightmare stability. She like it so much, that she already knew who she will be dream visiting. She crossed through a time stop, as the church inside was time stopped for some reason. She didn't really what was going on, leaning at the door with poking in.
"This is ridiculous!" Leah huffed in not wanting to be here, hearing her mom arguing.
"Maybe ask the one that put that restriction on you. I suspect it is for love and concern." The headmaster posed blocking her. Leah thinks about this and is the one that puts few restrictions over her close family. This was to protect them from god eaters that will be attracted by the blood line.
"If you can put up with being covered in slobber, then I will remove the restriction." Leah walking in and crossed past many groups of people. Didn't bat an eye about everything else. Just right over to the headmaster and her mom, "Seriously if you can be use to this." Leah isn't totally ignoring the pissed expressions.
"And why would this happen?" Leah's mom turned facing her daughter, then took step away from her. Leah feeling a little weird at that being her mom's reaction. Make sure the cloak was properly on and her mask was human features. But maybe it's the cloak itself. Regardless, she doesn't breach personal space.
"Leah, one your cats has ate a death god." The headmaster explained plainly.
"Not again. Death is sick of this. I feel for the man." Leah turned exactly the exact direction and removed a object that shouldn't be here, "Cough him up or I will take it." She told the object and it spat the souls out, "Not all souls need fixing." She puts the object back down and collected the souls. She goes through looking at them each. Bumbling around with dropping souls back to the bodies. She held stop of the death god, "I am so sorry. Ersa gets to excited. I will at least report I finished some those tasks you asked me. No charge need." Drops the soul back to the body and leans helping death back to his feet, "I even give you some sand. You want that?" He stared a while at her.
"What if I said ink?" He negotiated.
"Man, can't cheat you. You are good soul." She pats around herself a while, "I assume tome ink." He nods, "Neat. What section we editing?" He crossed his arms, "Like I can access all tome. There a lot of them I can not read. But I know realms. I know soulless."
"The heaven realm. The same place as tour cloak." She peers at the cloak and shurgs.
"I see. Well that's not my business. The cloak owner must have reached there." She gifted the ink regardless, "You need to use a feather from a god eater." She pats herself around again and takes a feather, "There. Good luck." Pats his shoulder and looked to some undertakers. She scans at other groups around. Folks getting up with headaches or pain. She shurgs as it was business as always.
"Yes. Leave it to the girl to just carry ink and feather for the heaven realm editing of the tome. She can't read it but clearly does access it." Death caught this too.
"Wrong tome!" She smacks omens on the arm, "Sheesh. Of course I can't access this universe. Bird brains doesn't think large enough." Death slides back at her.
"Is it a curve stroke?" He asked.
"I would normal lay it on a table and walk around, as it has to be steady. When you editing the whole chapter, you get tired repeating the flick. And flicking it leaves inaccuracies." He nods at this and it answered that she does know the content, "Now I would have should an example but those are sensitive to darkness. You need to be in a bright light." He nods appreciating that tad bit. But both are dazed in reeling in her exact meaning. At the tip of their tongue about to ask the same question of, 'there is multiple?' .
"Leah. Your mother want to go across."
"On it." Leah waved her interface open and plays about the settings. She goes through a whole bunch of issues and soon, her moms ID was updated. She sweeps away the interface. Posed thumbs up their way. He face palms.
"I have limited access." Her mom seeing the changes and the headmaster peers at this. Then returned the thumb up. Leah now sits down at the pew she was before. She reclines in just relaxing with crowd watching at this spot. She finds her hands playing about the fabric of the cloak, pondering if this was something she had to give back. That it felt safe being in. She also did want to thank whoever put it around her as she slept. Rough sleeping the church was hard enough as it was the only space she can let herself sleep at. When she was all sealed, she could sleep as a human as she pleased at any location. Now, she feared her body taken from her if she slept in the dorms. If she did have to move to the dorm, she have some very strong spell protections. She also doesn't want her darkness over fed by the negative energy the school students always carry. Always was there stress about homework, freind groups and teacher bias. The church is where the worse troubled sorts go for time out away from everyone. Those most in need of help and feel vulnerable by their position. She always preferred helping them then the snot noses in the main dorms.
"It worked." Celebrated students returning from a sigil gate from the spirit guild side. Among them was Jospeh, giving out high fives. The team reports in with the teacher and demon watchers. They praise too. Leah smiles and looked around more. Another group back barely alive. They celebrated getting rank up but it isn't as energetic as her brother. She sees how only one student of a group is back alive, they wave to their mates at the other side. The demon watcher for them pulled the four corpses across. A group of five and only one made it back. They got rank but it is over shadowed by the four corpses laying at their feet. The school counselor is quick to help and support. Leah heard the tome pages fluster and close. She sees a registry taken place and named notes as missing or dead. She stares in how this is how it is.
"Hey Leah, you should take the priest room." Omens leans at the pew at her back. He likely was watching the fortune of the students. He caught her as she was along the last to be back from time stop. The monster corpse laying the alter and the cause of death for most students here.
"Maybe a cardboard box by the back door is enough." She lightly voiced, "You think this been the only time I had to rough sleep?" He stopped leaning and thinks about why she here at all. He soon distracted with something and leaves her. She tucked her feet up, watching tiredly. Crossed her arms in and lays down the pew, hearing the loud leave of students or entry of others. Alone at the corner tucked away bench, furthest from any action.
As per always she back to dreams, waking in the truck. She stares at the gates per always through the windscreen. She sees the break up. The back is loaded with off cut material to make more merchandise. She got out of the truck and one a hitching bag of goods. Tonight was travel the nightmares lands. She has some kids to scare and merch to sell to some dwellers. She makes big profit, even waking world money. Once she set with enough bed wet kids, she had found spare time on hand. She uses it with tome conditioning and some scythe sharpening. She had nearly went to sharpen Grandpa's blade but she stares at it. Locked into the case of crystal. She bows respecting it. Left it alone.
"Hey breakfast." She barely sits up from the pew. She was not expecting a cup of coffee forced in her left hand. She scrunched up in a daze, all wrapped in the cloak. She peers about the coffee as she isn't sure if this was some prank. She stares in counting the heart beats around her and the laughter that two others were having.
"What brand is it?" She asked peering about the cup too, as this was a best mom in the world tacky sort of cup.
"Dunkin donuts, praline hazel. No milk. No sugar." She tilts it about, "Loki dunk his face in it."
"Yes, Loki does that. Unless we mean the god and not my cat. I have a lot of questions if that the case."
"Your freak cat of fluffy fur." She sips it now that been clarified, "They finally fixed the curtains. It's why were can be together." Leah hugs the coffee as it tastes exactly as they said it would. It's from their universe and thus she can taste it. If it was from her current universe, it be flavorless. She's a hollow, Hollows have no sense of flavour with physical foods.
"We will attending the same school now. Time distortion is freaky." She laughed with them as now they are trading about things that seem wrong. Leah enjoys this time, "Have you told everyone about your status?"
"Nah, leave them to dream. I like the nonsense they come up with." Leah returned the empty cup, "how's your tomes?" They all told some spicy things they found about their books. She gave advice freely on the small things. She always has this last little strange thing that helps. Just as she told death about light sensitivity. There was factors of ambitious, realm energy or an unknown cost. Once they all calm down, these kids realize how unpopular Leah is.
"Don't bother. They don't know. No one really does. I am content in this. They come to me if they want me. Let them stubble and trip. My soul was removed from this tome three times. Grudge or not. They will just have to accept I am here." They knew she was removed from her origin but this wasn't the atmosphere they expected for someone that does so much.
"But your like, the true title goddess of soul law." She shrugs at this.
"I don't make the rules." She reminds them and they frown. Yet this can't be changed. They soon scatter as they seen the time. Rushing to classes. Leah stays at the pew, peering to the nearest window. She seen a message flash.
Missed call from 'top seat'. Now that my number is back on dial, it didn't take them long to try.
"Back up a second. So the index holder of this universe are a bloodline of humans. They misused it and sold names to clothus. The index is still in their possession?" A god of another realm in conversation to its counterpart of this universe, "You realize you lot screwed up. The one soul that repairs tomes, sigils system and has pulled souls from the guts of god eaters." The long pause as the god directed to Leah at the pew, "No." They circle around to look at her from the front. The visitor backed himself in deep fear and pulled his counter part to a gate. Leah knew that God to be the same religion as Omens. She couldn't really place of what they are exactly.
"Leah class." She heard from one the demons nearby.
"Sure." She gets moving. Leaving the church and sitting at her place in class as always. Time must have altered as she doing the same class work as everyone. But the disturb and distrust of her is the same as before. She checked at older worked pages, remembers them. She pulled to a fresh page and has a backpack hung at the back the chair. She recalls it being just everything for school. Not the neatest of shoes. The worn and partly dirty shirt. Her whole body is clearly something she only cares for herself. But she does feel clean, clearly acces to a shower room with privacy. Hair braided, so she visiting her mom that here on campuses. The push hard to be normal, she can tell from how she writes and her slow pace to others. Unfinished questions. She fished out a broken pen that she uses a lot. She puts today's date at the top, and acts clam. Adjusting to the changes.
"Freak." Paper thrown at her with a curse spell on it. The cloak discolored at the spot it hit her. They all giggle around her back, throws a lot of stuff. The teacher brust in and had the whole class clean up. Once everyone seated back, class begun. Leah followed the instructions fine, better she does normally. The teacher whom normally finds her frustrating and a sort of attention seeker is surprised by the over night change. But everyone was whispering that her grandpa died and made rude remarks. So it excused her behavior change.
"Hey what's with the freak?" Several knew there a lot more then just greif.
"Miss Fallown, leave my class. Your a disruption to the rest of us." Teacher taking frustration of the distraction on the victim. Even so, Leah didn't bother fighting back with the teacher. It seems the bullies laughed at her as they think they win.
"You know." She turnes to students instead, "Your just a sad bunch children with no imagination." She cast an chain of judgment over them, an undertaker casting. Everyone that had been intentionally messing her are now cursed. This had even affected the teacher. A surprise to the students that thought the teacher was just being strict. But the thinking on it, the bais was always there. Leah having got her justice, leaves now. She dropped off the finished homework (photo copies of it and not the originals) at the front desk. She makes a clear deep stare into the teacher. Then gone for good. Walking not the door but though a wall, using shadow. The whole class in up roar behind. Leah carries the backpack and class work. Heading to the school library. She takes a seat away from the English class using the library for lesson today. Head down with the history work she meant to do. It was so much easier to complete without being disturbed.
