Chapter 86 - Night lights 82

She seated at her tent opening, watching the fall of the sun. The way kids were cooking, eating and playing card games. The rise of bugs that some assumed were a nuisance. The distant sound of shouting and some singing songs of old folktales. One the teachers that was into researching British myth's had brought along a gurdy and was proving a humming back track. It was soon a concert of their own, drawing in listeners from even the trees and hedging boarders. A soon to be god follower among them stood in clapping, then forced others to stand. Stomping into a pattern of 'dance', more a march. But it gained a lot of laughter and warmth to evening drawing colder into the moonlight. She smiled to herself in how fun that looked, tilted in a sorrowed down glance. Her hands not human... the night brings her to title. A creature pretending to be. She leaned alone, hand holding her arm back - holding back from joining them.

"It's getting to dark for this." She heard him approaching with the lantern, seated at her side but not in her tent. Lantren luminating them both. In this light, she stays human.

"I can do something cool." she said. He shakes in that she shouldn't. But she wag her brows and he shakes more no. She sighed and slaps the floor. This bursted a chain reaction, flighting the fireflies that hide in tall grass. The took flight as extra bright waves of light. The music made the bug blink in the same wavelength - proving the old gurdy and the song of old tales to be an ancient spell casting. Raven clicked his tongue.

"If this summons some forgotten god, I blaming you." She laughed at that.

"Maybe." punched his arm, "Or maybe it empowers someone you already know." providing him a rainbow feather. It's length was as large as the biggest flight bird in recorded human discovery. He holds it like he was holding gold, preening it to shape it together, "Do you know that Omen's is a concept that crosses cultures?" He looked up in perplex expression, "He was in many places, scattered. But in this modren age as humans learned to travel - so to did he. Pulling the peices together. He had many names. Many meanings, both good and bad. But he was someone you want to look for. Someone to shine a light in darkness. The one that gave you game trails to track and sometimes bear caves to shelter." She looked onwards to this party of students and adults alike, "The celtic's found chambers of bones. Birds and bears... and large tusked creatures they couldn't fathom. We know now that those bones were before the ice age and the celtic tribes were long after. It didn't matter. What mattered to the celtics that there was monsters and god among them. Fey and kelpy. Man eaters of jaws as wide as children. Omen's... well... he was among them too. The god that drove away the monsters or led the unfaithful to horrid deaths. He who controlled wisps and was later known as Obrona. The king of spirits, the daytime ruler. He had a queen. She rules the night of this fey land. He hide his queens children, many fey beings with the cover of seasons. When the celtic found omens, they opened their eyes to the danger of fey and monsters. They are long gone now... maybe not. Merlin, Morgan, and King Arthur. They were after the celts. But they just myths."

"The hidden island that is said to be the resting place?" She shurgs at this loose grasp, "What are you trying to teach me?" She laughed again to this but she chilled with listening to the grudy in full chores. the strain of thier voices all in unison. She clears her throat a little. She sits up and projected her song voice to lace among them. Speaking the Celtic translations. Many more bugs lifted in a mass clouding and then leave in mass. Drifting to the end of this song. She bows head to this send off.

"You're a clever witch." she heard not from Omens but the one she brought with. The spirit borrowing this energy and flowed into Raven. In turn, this will be gifted to Omen's indirectly. When Raven exchanges names in faith to Omen's, he can gift the lost god's inheritance to Omens. She embraced this long silence, the world of stopped time eclisped over.

"What are you?" Omens hissing over to the sibiling of summons. The two at face to face conversation.

"You weren't listening to the spun tale." chuckled over Omen's, "I am all that remains of a god lost to time and space. A little creature of the abyss tells me that you're in need of my gifts. I am in need of a new lace of life before my kingdom is lost to the modern concrete erasure." Posed open hand, "I am hoping to bare my soul to you, young true title... in hope you can carry a legacy through to the future." posing thier right hand closer to Omens. Omen's changed to defend his place, to look like a scary monster to leach away evil. It only really purifed this site to holy status.

"Twais, no only am I trying to lift you higher." She stood up and picked up the lantern of creations flame, "I am trying save your name. You have held on to fear and darkness long enough. It's time you shed away the parts that weren't even you." She thrusted the lantern to his hands, "It's time to revert you from the corruption of the abyss. You never belonged among the nightmares. But with this, you're a traveller of time and the owner of lands in ordered space. You can be stronger now... Not crumble away." She lets the lantern free as he refused to hold it properly. It drops and shattered over him spraying him with the core source of the lanterns light. It melts away reptile features, gleaming behind a bird man. All traces of being god eater conversion was gone. Standing as the next purest shape of himself. The being steps into the soul flames, joining into Omen's collective being. Bring about elven features, that of truly a creature of fey wild.

"Nature is not cute and neat lines, at least no always." the easing light of the lantern fades. In this stop of time, she knew with the lantern used. She will not be visible to everyone as before. She removed traces of herself once again, altering the register and the tent set up. As the last stake of her tent is removed, her hand degraded back to clothus. She closed her hands in being sad about it. She left some parting mind games, like a dream catcher over his sleeping bag and several god follower tools through his stuff. She lifted him into his tent. She plays about his sight blindfolds. Taking a strip of Omen's sight to tied over Raven's right eye. A soft last brush and she knew Omens was mad at her. She moves to the old oak tree, putting herself among its branches. Laying in watching the horizon. Omen's did his work to impose new powers over his god follower. Offically marking the boy to being under his wing openly, stamping Raven in Omens care. Her book hovered open with noting up these alterations. Several message carriers of ink flew in warning other true titles of Omen's rising. Time jittered and sticks in glitching; her foot prints in the mud erased and the feather left his hands. The image become clear, with everyone needed to settle to sleep for the night. The broken lantern is just a twisted bit of rusted metal on the floor between Raven's pitch site and the others.

"Get to sleep!" the Grudy back to its case. Jess walking across the feild to check on Raven / Mat. She slowed to a stop, her foot to the lantren being warm in spite of its clear weathered aging. She looked slow of how the landscape glitched of two tents and then just his. She had to wipe her eyes a little, few face slaps and another stride forward. She freezed intensly of how Raven held himself. Acting like he has a headache, likely he did from the perception alter. She faster to lower over to his side. Speaking fast spit ball questions like if he ate anything he shouldn't had and where he was hurt. She flinched at touch of him, the divine energy was strong here. He leaned into her with holding his right socket.

"Josh!" She shouted and Josh shot up gaze over this way. He was tracking it across fast. He had to cross his arms in feeling blocked from getting closer. The divine spray of protection affected his sins and damned curses. As a servant of a Darkwood, cursed to see the damned as if one. He felt pain in divine areas. This was the same surge he felt now. Unable to make it closer. Jess scooped Raven to her arms and carried him instead to Josh. A cautious look back to the old oak tree... of its hanging ritual markers as a divine prayer site. Glitching in the left offerings of human physic's into place around the old oak's root ball system. A plaque marking its divine significant as tourist information. Even the camp ground's name was 'the wise old oak tree', supposing as a gate to the fea world to Elfame (The Scottish Fairylands).

"Where is..." Josh fell short in asking, "What happened?" He doesn't recognize the changes to be real.

"The casting of divine province. This area, object or person has been chosen to be the embodiment of a part of god." Approaching figure of the god vessel of Omen's, his wood puppet stepping out from the shadow of the old oak tree, "I have taken claim over this young follower." lowering in taking Raven from Jess, "His just feeling the changes of my gifts." petting the young man with gentle care, "I know his fine." casting another miracle to cloth Raven into the uniform of fitting a true titled god, "This is a place of Origin, its no wonder it triggered him." moving together away from the old oak tree, "But this place is also has danger. You shouldn't trust the shadow girl. She isn't a shadow at all. But it be untrue to call her anything else. Not even a thing of devils and demons." speaking broadly with Jess and Josh. Approaching the camp in being crowded by others. Omen's vessel takes a look back, glaring at her. She shirnks in loosing her confidence again, balling up and back in a gloomy cold of her own. Excluded again.

"The hidden witch." heard darkly casted over her, and stapled as a label across her chest. She grasp the wood underneath her in gouging wood chucks. The oak tree withering in her poison trigger, a fungi blacken attack infecting the tree inside. The outside the tree looked healthy strong. It was on the brink of fall. But the raising light of morning, thud crashed the oak branch that was her old tent space. Being a dodged bullet for him.

Now that Omen's should be back to the embodiment levels his golden age can offer. It will be very busy for god followers, especially for Mat. I would guess that the long road ahead will be harsh and full of rises to falls. I can only signal when falls are to happen, the unwelcomed premonition or dread. The compendium has shuffled the realm arrangements to accommodate changes that omen's has brought. A host that was the true title of death wishes a request to see you. This host is no longer the title. I will welcome an old friend for tea and books.

The way everyone was cautious in moving the tree branch, collecting his things that seem undamaged. Students folding the tent away, speaking gossip behind his back. She would give a few of them some troubles with laces untied and harmless scares. She inspected if she was why the branch collapsed, and although it wasn't. She can tell time was making it seem like it was her, going against her being blameless. The ways it glitched would frame her for trying to kill him. Likely a way of discouraging further stances together. She leans on the tree, frowning of its damage and what this can mean to others.

Everyone picked up the gear, but Mat who was hitching a ride in the camper with Josh and Jess. His gear loaded at the door before it closed. Eliza puts herself to sit on the boke racking and shadow slips through the back window. Left as a mask that sides looking out the back window. A plain black mask of no face and was very out of place. Yet, if her mask was put to shadow, it return white. Her gaze over the students that watched mat's leave with concern, those are his real friends here. Jess looking back knew about the mask but says nothing. Strangely Josh can't see her but can sense she somewhere. He also remembers her, being the only human in this group to be so.

"Congratulations in being chosen by a true titled god." Jess at Mat's side as his awake from a long dream talk to Omen's. God followers go into dream walks to speak with their gods. Speaking of, the vessel construct altered into a tool for him to have. Another under his belt.

"Equally I am sorry to hear about it too." Josh driving shouted back, "Being a servant to anyone has its downsides too." Josh's under a Darkwood contract, so he knew it well. Jess glares at Josh for being rude, "But no matter how bad things get, I would bet you have plenty of helpers to keep you going." Mat frowns at not understanding, "It must have paid a cost, it always does." Jess throw something at him, not as a distraction from driving. Just to stop him talking.

"I am going to be fine." Mat sitting up and holding his right eye in how it aches, "I just see things differently." he tries looking around and he look right into the eyes of a Darkwood's shadow. His gaze follows next to the strange creatures around parts of the camper and that he jolted when the prompt for sigil flashed a message. He tries to touch it and can't, he couldn't even dismiss the message. Leaving it to hover in the way as he continues taking in the new perceptive, "You want to swerve left in two miles." He muttered and jess repeated this to Josh. Josh frowned but he did as asked, avoiding running over a pheasant trying to cross the road. Her mask lays flat to the window sill, but she still able to look at the back window of passing country side.

"Is there a book for what things are?" Mat asked in front of him, taking this ask asking his god about the unseen. He clearly was getting a reply and that of sigil prompts being shown to him. He has a headache in the vast information to be waking up to. Omen's dismissed plenty of the panels to reduce this annoyance. She make a click sound and the prompts all closed instantly. Everyone heard that click but no sure which direction to seek it. A lot of the creatures fled too.

"That's not at all suspious." the darkwood shadow stepping to the back window where her mask is.

"Just leave me alone." she replied back in thier tongue, "I am not here in choose." The darkwood stands now blocking her being sight of the god or his follower. It just was for the better. Normally damned are burning in divine presence. A living damned although can still burn in divine energy, are not harmed by it. The Darkwood assumes she a normal dead damned that is forced here and stuck within the divine protection. It made the logical reason for why she was black and not white. In the sun and not a shadow closer to the god and follower.

"I will sort things out when Jess swaps." Josh nodding to his master's shadow, with looking in the review mirror. Jess is confused as she didn't hear anyone speak to prompt Josh to talk. But it confirmed that Josh speaks and hears damned languages. Mat was reading a prompt his lord was showing him, the Sigil censuring about the Darkwoods and the living shadow types. It's a very human explanation of understand what damned are. Sigil panel glitched a little for a brief moment, but he couldn't understand it's glitch. Omens gave the panel a knock and it was back to what it should be.

The camper stops to a check up point, Mat geared back to being able to hitch hike like everyone else. But there a lot of new changes, such as how he fits using a smaller bag suddenly and the amount of amulet charms used. Once he was walking in the middle of walker groups the camper is closed.

"Eliza." Josh voiced in posed to invite her to sit at the bench where Mat just was. The Darkwood sits in the most comfortable spot to watch this. Jess taking the driver seat and looking confused. Once Eliza pulled herself to human mock form, Jess remembers her. Turned to focus driving on.

"Josh." She squared equal tone, "And Darkwood." She peered to that shadow, "I think I know what your about to tell me about. I know that divine energy prevents shadow types." She sits leaning at the table between them, "I know I am cursed. I was the moment I became a book keeper. I knew that Omen's which is his god... was having a metamorphic alteration. I know ahead about a lot of this. I wasn't trying to hurt him. The branch broke between my hands when I was fighting with Omens. Omens has it out for me. Unpleased of my tainted powers and abilities of the tomes I carry. His as bad as Fate. two sides of the same coin." She half laid the table, crossed arms and head down, "Cursed."

"You should keep watching him from the shadows." The darkwood huffed, "His your chain. right?" she huffed at that too. Josh peers confused, "Sometimes the damned are so by other poeple and not themselves. His why she still lingering around, even after death. You must be a very high ranking damned. You can speak."

"Oh much worse." She shook in a tut, "Try not damned but something worse." She stares up in how that confused the Darkwood, "Its fine that you wouldn't know. The highest top ten damned are not just damned. Darkwoods are not the only bloodline family of negative typing. Fallown's are always undertakers. The Seer's have access to the Sigil prompt during life, which wouldn't be normally possible. They stay together even after death; creating the faction as you know as Tricksters. Although that said, once a Fallown or seer dies, they both end up on as thorns in the backsides of undertaker kingdoms and the lower end of factions that already stood. SO the rivlary in life is meaningless, not that the living realize this." She turned away, left finger making a circle on the table, "Child of both blood, are even less liked. The bottom end of all the pyrminds. Undertakers hate them. Demons puppet and enslave them. Angel's in good faith bring them to the light - which hurts... a lot. The trickster view these both blood children as hinderance. Child that can reach powers that screw unimaginable places into scrambled eggs." She sunk hand into the shadow, "Stupid books with to many rules."

"Interesting, but then that would mean your some sort of secret evil." Darkwoods chuckled a little.

"Mmm... yes. Prying souls out of spirits is not enteraining. Prying souls from even the shadows of the damned. At least the taste interesting... just as damned eat the negative emotions of those not damned. I barely cliging to exisitence with what I do. It's a means of survivial that even death nags me on the best of days." She lefted her hand out the shadow, "Just now cleaning up omen's blockages of tainted energy is just another day of the job. Hate me, as he may. Fricking moron of bird brains doesnt realize the good I gave. Ugh, maybe I should have punched him for good measure."

"Crap... that is scary. You dont use a tool like the death gods to do that?" the darkwood pondering. She stands reached over and plucked the soul out the masked guy. She stared at the soul and puts it back. She sits with a flop. Sighes in the cue for a angry death carrier to hiss about her playing with souls again. The contract Josh was under shattered, but his still cursed. He blinked looking at how his ex-master passed out and woke up again. Her hand reverted back to mock human.

"What are you talking about?" Jess not being able to hear the translation of this enitre conversation and was parking.

"Eliza is a soul snatcher type of spirit. She does side work for death gods." Josh got that much, "She did something for Raven's god and that god wasn't aware of the gift it was. Although Eliza, sometimes a gift can be a curse to someone else. You could have done something that would make him be excluded by other gods." She tilted in thinking about it.

"Maybe it could be. But he better as he is now then what other are like. He just have to learn to deal with the burden that gaining power does." Josh sighed at that, "I am just doing good deeds in the greater benefits of others. My work is meant to go without visible show. I am not trying disrupt anything. I am smoothing the ones fallen behind as we go forward. Bringing lost souls back into a system. Putting things in fine point."

"Nothing is ever neat." Josh shrugs and pats her shoulder, "Best play ghost act. Especially since Omen's is mad at you." Jess understood that last comment Josh made because he said it in English and not damned, "Life is just complicated enough."

She leans with Josh as they step to look ahead of the camper, all them kids in line. Finishing their camp hiking trip officially. Mat celebrated in smile to his god at his side. Getting on will enough to some minor tasks. Eliza turned into a shadow reflection, putting herself in the reflection world. So she only exists within reflected surfaces. She still seated at this bench in the camper but she not physically there to be seen directly by even the Darkwood. That Darkwood that was mind jumbled from dying for three seconds. Counted as a near death experice and by unseen creature of night. His not going to make the dots about Eliza, Fallown and Seers for a while. He doesn't even remember her. Josh does, and his the only one. Jess is confused to the point of asking.

"Whose Eliza?" She whispered to Josh in looking into the empty gloomy camper.

"A time displaced girl we look after sometimes. She's always around Mat, not that Mat knows her most times." Jess nods at that much, "I will be sorting her out if she appears again." Jess back forwards in seeing Mat approaching, "She's cursed. You know how cursed are around the divine." She sharp stared to Josh and frowns in getting it now. They open the camper door in letting Mat in, "Welcome back buddy. Looks like you had a very busy walk. That's a lot of apples." helping the lad put the apples into a carrier bag, "Did another god follower send their regards?"

"I guess the apples gave it away." Mat shurgs and Josh made a nervious chuckle. Hiding his hands quickly from Mat to not worry the kid, "I think she has something to do with gateways or runic summoning? I really dont know. But it was emotional." So summons welcomed back her sibiling, even if he was collected into Omen. Sibilings know each other, even at soul level, "She took a bunch of creepy things from my shadow that I didn't know I had. Some shadow person has been putting things there a while."

"Oh, that isn't a problem though. I bet she liked those gifts." Josh washing his hands with medication. Raven peers about that action with being a little confused. Goes sitting to the same bench. He subcouniously was exactly where she was, and with his left hand was feeling the spot she circled before. He didn't even know what he was doing, just that he was compelled to sit here. Josh had to shake off that werid thought and posed that Jess take over. She glanced about Josh's hands with a brow raise. She now sits with Mat and listened to Mat talking about his whole trip. He would pause to hear his god make commentary and retanslate it with a follow on to that conversation. It about settled when he looked to the Darkwood shadow being seated by the back window with a human posed meaning they were having a headache. Josh takes the driver seat and sees Eliza in shadow seated hidden out of sight of Mat and Omens on the floor beside. She careful offered a ointment in shell case. He used it knowing she likely had this remedy for this exact same problems she has. Given she was this prepared, she must have known about Mat being with Omen's a lot longer then she should have.

"We heading back to the tower and I suspect his going to be very busy with the god's festival." putting the camper out of park. This was going to be a smooth trip for now.
