Chapter 84 - Turned Tables 80

Gone are the days of an undertaker watching her back as she grow up in the environment she had. Gladly she has better sense of letting to poor guy have some privacy than wondering into the toilets or bathrooms. She instead lingered at the other side of the wall, hides in the shadow of a object that isn't in view or most likely waiting for him at the door like always. She watched as energy recharges through him and how the flow of energy circuitry works as humans grow into magic use.

Give he was an undertaker caught in a revert and she was a human avoided the revert - the swapped places. But the role hasn't changed. Even as a young lad training into being a great magic user and god follower, he held that future to keep with the guidance of others. He at the young years, being reckless is rewarding in these times, a well taught lesson for later and a silver lining.

She is this unchanged as this mysterious lady that sells quality if you in the know. That and she has a bad vibe for too many and is sighted as a good measure for a 'magus' potential. She often is oath requested for regular work in measuring the folks. But she to unique to be full employed. The top folks just consider her a side affect of having clashing religions on sight, that she the bad side of resulting differing practices of divine. They don't rely on her, and that's good for her in her interests.

She still hand tied with the compendium; there is always new things in the unknown abyss and she makes trips to keep the records accurate. Her maintenance of abyss relationships and time space neighbours is always through these visits. Even the worst Enders in bad time events come for a solemn hug occasionally or just for someone to share pain. She lost much humanity in loosing a human body, a side affect of reverting time and her return in a undertaker clothus form. She has to wear gear to fill in missing human things to blend among. The only time she ever without is in the back of her bought flat in the tower. She is his neighbour.

She infamous for having reapers appearing at her stall down stairs, and has this mysterious vibe attained by her lack of explaining what or whys. Like any Clothus, she a stickler for law. She abides the reality wishes. Some days a nightmare being, a dream walker hidden out of sight.

"To much blush today, Lady." He sounds stressed in closing the flat. She stands at the balcony looking down at the lobby floor of open stalls today. His commentary of what he calls her makeup is a regularly occurred event.

"The exam is more about the ability of fighting then the utility of magic. Magic can't always relied on for everything." She returns his comment with advice or small wobble to help his day forwards. He often deals with short end of the stick because of Omens. It's her way of being a cheerleader. Using her sight through reality and formulating the response around that Intel. If he had a lot of fire or cursed magic within - she mentions it slyly. He hovers in wanting to say something else but his back glance made him quiet. He left onwards to his avrage human life. He does this a lot, just he did as a undertaker - never finishing. It's ironic for the guy that should be the Ender, but each universe is uniquely twisted in ways that differ plenty.

"Why do you bother him?" Omen's here to be protective as normal.

"I am protecting the both of you. You're in my tome... not death's reach. You have to be at his side. I will always be in the darkness. Its at least that much a comfort." Omens hissed at her like always and flew in getting it. There to keep close with the now human version. A busy body.

"Lady Empress of the Abyss... if it hadn't been for that bird. I would have thought the god of death was making a joke." another reaper today and a ill trained one, "Here."

"Wrong hand." She warns softly and they took no beating eye about it. She instead takes their blade partner for a check, "Mmmm... you are a tough soul. I hope you picked your temp carefully. That dent will be a issue." she softly smooths this dent out the blade with her own uses of twisted elemental magics and energy that she gained in her trips away from time. The repair eased the soul and it floats beside her freely, "Yes... I can take souls as I wish, you not wrong. But you know like me, it be rude to pluck them as they are. They need time to refine before harvest." The blade twists of its own and returned itself back to the reaper. He finally swapped hands, no longer a right hand offer. She takes it gladly now, and opens it swiftly. She leans enjoying the three letters. One of Death's wife. One of death thank her for bring the wife to him. One of official business. But even the official one has wavered notes of soul messages about it... so even his true title was relaxed with her. It be life to shatter this peace soon, as it always is.

"There aren't many people that warmly smile about receiving mail from the lord." The reaper frowns.

"Deep down the man is similar to you. A guy with a duty. All gods are, just some play it up and some are to serious. I know a few gods of death that take the job more seriously then needed. But it works fine for how it is." Putting the mail away and back to facing the balcony, "You should find a host while your here, ask at the counter downstairs." the reaper studies about her, "I don't need one. I am human enough as it is. You're not." he frowns more of that being insulting but understood that her point was made to a purpose. Heading down there among the crowds.

Once there was a wave of creatures among the people that respected her place above them, she could then start heading to her stall. Loki climbs up the column and claws into the metal of the banister as he turned into a cat form. It fluffiness all over her, body mashed into her arms and any part of her leaned at the balcony. She scoops him to her shoulder and allows him to hitch ride on her. Walking her way among the normal, people that can see avoided her and those that are blind walked to close but never through. Very few do.

"No one is going to care." She has a need sense for negative energy and always will there be folks picking on other. There is a school for kids learning magic around here and there will be always classic school drama. She plays her part in being the creepy shadowing figure to softly claw her sound her way over them, stopping the bullies from taking things to far. She only needs to stands coldly over them to give them the scare and message. The little gang skitters all directions like cats after a popping balloon. Leaving the meant to be victim behind. She eased off the creep factor and posed that the kid need to stand up now. She then gave better personal space, gifted them a divine blessing tea candle between them by putting it down with her left hand. She waves them with her left and moved as if it never happened. The kid taking the candle, confused on why she gave it and what it is for. Even so, he pockets it and moved on too. Her eyes had caught glimpse of why that child had to be a Glader, a untainted child. The way his body takes in and uses the energy more then most, and thus prone to extreme build up easier. Falls behind in class since they have to juggle more elements then others. She can see the creatures that feed from this, the things that cling to those of difficulty ahead.

That candle dispels away those creatures when they become unbearable, as that is the real point for why lighting a candle dispels darkness. Rather, the misconception when all are blind.

She stands among the humans, a sea of masks and covered eyes. SO many tied back or sealed from their soul potentials. Weighed by responsibilities and regrets. Some are so painful to look at, the dull boring people are always the most horrifically sealed and 'blessed'. Yet in her aged mind, these ties keep them safer in a reality that they are most peaceful. These bonds even if painful, keep them tied to the wider world. Small little pieces in a larger symphony. They keep a order and are part of laws they aren't even aware of being a part of.

"Good morning lady." One of the human regulars that keeps tabs on her business among mages to keep being safe practice for humans. Always ready to try to keep Eliza from taking business away from those already established here.

"If so says the time that is it morning." She flustered her left hand in waving away a not customer, "If your not within a ranking, I am not interested in business with you. If you have a letter of recommendation, in any shape of form... then maybe we will take business. But as you are..." Eliza scaled the human, "Boring. Not even the unseen take shine to you." She does her out right refusal of trades gesture and followed it into a reminder label for other unseen to avoid her, "Leave me to my misery little girl. You fear in the most mundane of things is the only reason I pity you."

"Rude, I haven't even done anything to try to offend." the human leaves very quickly onwards. Eliza watched carefully of that girl not to return. She scales the sea of people for more interesting ones or for the things that come to face her. Once she is satisfied with this area, she pulls her little magic trick to make a table appear and set a display of cheap necklaces. This was just the face of business, not the real one. Just easier to be hidden among merchants to pose as a merchant of mundane items. She has a display case of a sealed weapon for the day with its little card of warning. Often it was the trap she set to make the unsavoury appear, the sort of people she actually after. Often or not is the divine sorts that come to try to banish her, amusing her for a while.

She choose here based on a lot of energy crossing factors and to attract the right types of hidden beings that follow energy like highways. This was a prime trade point for the dead and departed. The only being with the guts to appear among humans.

"black sand." spoke like a demand. No ranking. Damned. No gods. A lot of dark magic practice. Demonic contract. No reputation for her to bother. There isn't history of trading with her before. No letters or recomendations. Not an another to vouch.

"Leave Darkwood. You're scaring away my business." the death glare aimed at her for being rude back but her lacking change of expression was off set her words. It was even enough to be lasped for forgetting that he demanded sand from her.

"I think he was asking who sales it." She hear afar as they are approaching to join this conversation.

"You all low ranked for me. But if you want a trader for such sands in your sale. You have to ask the demon hunter by the oath counter before he tracks back to hell." posed left hand in pointing them correctly, "You best not offer your name or soul in the bargin price. The goddess of life will be mad for you humans to play with such affairs. Maybe consult a death order about demon deals. Death gods know how to keep souls safe. Those are your rules, not mine."  she slaps a damned for being hands on her trade, "I do bite."

"There aren't many gods who can trade with you. Let alone any normal rankers." A regular of hers pushed the humans aside for his normal list of goodies, "Is that why you break the rules?" He offers her a bag that seems to be moving. It sways and swings between them. He was offering by his left hand, and at his right hand posed the law of no soul trading.

"Smells fresh today." She posed that the items of request are neatly packaged in a wax sealed professionally made box, "I got my hand around how manufacturing packaging works. I am now doing packages. Bunch deals. It seems easier since I get a steady crowd of set types here. I am still offering my personalized selections to those able. If you get your hands on something rare while on your travels, I would love to take it off you. Even trash... I like broken things the most." She takes the moving sack with her left hand. She opens it there and then. Her scoops a lot of whatever the content is for a bit and then placed it inside a clothing inner pocket. The hunter takes his package now without being ate by the table. Bowing even as he moved back away at set personal space. She nods back, "But breaking the rules is something you dont understand. You arent even able to see the things I do. You couldn't survive my pain." She flaps the table cloth to change display quickly, "You are heading off to the angels. The stamp on the request." She pointed with her left, "They are empty beings. You are bringing humans? Humans are to full and blind." the humans here glare but the hunter sighed and nods getting it.

"I am taking the vessels with." she sighed in relief of this.

"Good... I don't want to see these names so soon. Not many that carries tomes want less to hassle." She muttered more herself but it caught them. She shuffled items about the table stall in trying to give them the best facing display. She was very keen of no longer paying mind to folks that had no other reason to bother her. She did watch their backs when they got the picture that she wasn't talking anymore. That trade was over for now. She takes study of the humans and their body language about time. Many hungry motions, the negative feeling of being drained and the eye the nearest clock face in subconscious keeping. She takes her cloak off the mock table now and also like others had to move in keeping with fitting in. Gladly plenty of people face her regularly to know her routines, even the humans consider her good at judging time. She can't physically eat... her body isn't human. But she will take spot in the most busiest place full of stressed workers and have a light snack on the emotional buffet. She can't eat in front of them but she can play a damned act enough to get by. The damned eat negative energy and dull it to a more easier to contorl for humans to reprocess. She watched how the energy converts into a damned, how it turned into a cursed fabric or regret chain then this item is softly placed over the human to carry as a unseen burden. She is likely the only being able to see this process. She did document and write about it into the system. This knowledge has nesh uses for Enders and gods alike. Maybe there are gods that can see and do this. She mimicked this process to perfection and is able to consume as a functional damned would. Adopted practice from the years of distance time and broken time realms. She could even eat the negative of damned and clothus. Sometimes gods. Mostly soul aura convention techniques.

Per always she finds a quiet spot, after having ordered a coffee or water. She sits broading and spying out the conversations. She has a test nibble of what is offered. Given this is the mage tower, there is always drama and screwed up people in stress for something. Selection of fear, doubt and even sometimes the creatures attracted by misfortune are taster here. If she really stable with reality, she can drink that coffee then pretending to.

"What are you?" She occasionally gets a newbie god sighter like this twerp to spoil things. But she can smell his candle on him, accounted for in her recent gifted away notes. She suspected that he might have seen her inhuman tendency when she stopped them bullies. She will hold on to trying to keep him safe for as long as he ignorant.

"It doesn't matter what I am now. I was a person like everyone else once." She replies calm, "Best not asking stupid things to someone that makes gods fear." She takes sip of her drink now. He stuck by, even comfortable to get his lunchbox and listen around. She half frowns and half smiles. She conflicted in the humans wish. So she stays silent and back to focus at doing her thing. She will make occasional glances to be sure he isn't being harassed by one her creatures that can ignore the candle.

"Why this table?" Her little neighbour sits joining them, "Why her?"

"She like a good luck charm." She coughed at that and it most definitely wasn't a human reaction. She had to stand up, fix herself facing away and sits down again. She had even flicked Omen for being rude.

"I didn't do anything." She sighed in picking up her cup again, "other then set some nightmares on them young lads. Lads needed a lesson and nightmares have paid jobs too. Win win." She most definitely talking at Omens.

"You're never normal." Omens fluffed mock feathers and stomps over onto Mats side. She smiles warmly of them being together and settles herself once more.

"She's my next door creep neighbour." Mat tells the lad.

"And that's a problem how?" She chooses not to be in their argument even if its rudely about her and infront of her. Rather she dialed into some others conversation across the room. This was royal speak between royalty. It was drama juicy with talk of infidelity and some drunk mistakes during a high stake event. It was at the best part when she being pulled back to conversation at her side. Hearing that the boys at her table were part of some larger scheme by the bullies. Omens having heard it nearly dove at them for how dangerous a plan it is. But it was a simple one to fix for her if she intervenes. But when she meddles in things, the gods greater wars among gods has been affected.

"That puts a death mark on them." She heard among the scheme folks and she knows this voice to be her brother, "You don't want to mess with the gods of fortune. Especially those of followers. Doing this will bring things across that even gods can't do."

"And you know?" He lowered at being defeated a little by the argument. She swayed back to the royal throwing a table across the restaurant. At reflex, she stood shielding the two with her. Her cloak of cloth solidified enough to the table to splinter in a heap at their feet.

"That is madness!" The angered royal mage is unaware of his damages and lives hurt by the thrown silverware. A lot of humans were crashed about the floor by the forces.

"Are you both OK?" She lowered her cloth and lowered to them in checking. She even gave Omens a check too. Sighed in relief of lacking injury.

"That was cool. Is your clothing even clothing?" The kid sparked in eyes but Mat looked to Omens being leery of her. Moved them away from her. She sad smiles but is glad he instinctive choose of survival was strong. She back up right and has to adjust her face plate and roll a popped joint back hidden. She crossed arms dismayed of the damage and takes glance of what creatures and being show up for clean up.

"Identify yourself." Blade at her throat.

"A resident of this tower, the keeper of the compendium and handler of the index. I am not someone you just ask stupid questions with. You know who I am." She moved the blade away and dares a step forwards, "Don't end up bait in my domain, child." She is left be as she reputation is her identity. They moved along to others more interesting to their concern. The royals need no identity show and are skipped too. But now it was a matter of those injured.

"Mock human, aren't you breaking laws?" A god vessel. She doesn't bother these days to wonder what god owns them. It just matters of laws and divine integrity. Yet it was more important to maintain peace among then to fight and hurt others.

"What matters more is that those lot are going to sparking off more magic in a already dense area of people." She makes a lot of gestures showing she isn't here for anything ill intent. She had even been the one to make orders to those unseen types to help the injured. She posed direct command of the damned around here to pull things back to a sensible management, "As the highest ranker of the Sigil oath keepers, it be a wise time to remind you folks to not do something so stupid. These lives aren't meaningless, and everyone has a fate to follow. You disrupt the order of things and there will be something out there greater to bite you back where it will hurt most." She bows to all that followed her orders, "Breaking a magic war among the none mages is something not even the gods will over look. Why else do they send their vessels to watch over you and those connected to you?" She makes some adjustments of fixing back a better grasp of her human appearance, "fireflies trying to shine light in the darkness." she shakes disappointed. She makes a last glance to where last Mat and that child was. Glad they were out of the way and safe. She moved away to shadows, blending among the crowds of faceless and hidden alike. She knew this was enough for today among the humans, and it was time to go back to her place. She made a gate in her flat of her own way back to sure location. She must go back there for a little while.
