Chapter 21 - Blue moon

"So by tomorrow, we'll be giving the rank of the people who found the flags, you could go back to your campsites, you all will be meeting once more by noon."

The head camper said and then, they all dispelled to their tents.

Getting to the camp area, Mira changed into a crop top and blue mini jeans and slippers. Walking back to the camp environment, she saw Matthew dressed in nightwear.

"Do you want to go out?" Matthew asked.

"You're being nice to me, why are you concerned?"

"I want to forget what happened this afternoon."

"Wasn't it scary?" Mira asked as he nodded.

"Especially with the surprise attack," Mira chuckled for a while as Matthew's sharp gaze was on her and then her chuckle turned to laughter.

"Oh, do you think is funny?" Matthew said trying to give a serious look though Mira was still laughing.

"Sorry but I remembered, is not just about the surprise attack but the time when you were like-" Matthew covered her mouth before she could laugh out his reaction.

"Shh, do you want to make, ah," he winched in pain from the bite he could from Mira biting his palm.

"How will I say it right now? Besides, what's the reward in that if I say it now, I have to have something to blackmail you in the nearest future," Mira teased.

"So what are you talking about?" Their concentration on each other broke as they turned to see it was Justin who spoke.

Mira's smile reduced to a poker face as she stood up about to leave but Justin held her hand.

"Wait, you still need to get your hand bandaged, Maddie is out, so I thought it best I be the one get it treated instead, where's the first aid kit, I'll do it."

"No need, I'll do it myself, I'm leaving now." Justin stood and then mistakenly held her waist as Mira landed on his back with his breath whispering in her ear.

Mira's heart pondered a thousand times.

"Sorry," he whispered moving back a bit, Mira felt her cheek burning as she fluttered her eyelashes.

"If you say you want to help, then you could, besides," Mira turned to Matthew who was sitting but he wasn't on the spot.

"Where's -" she stuttered and then she found Matthew walking along with his folks.

"Cmon, let's go," Justin said holding her palm as he walked her behind the tent placing her down on the grass, Mira was quiet as Justin removed the bandage around her arm taking the balm, he softly applied it on her palm and arm as her heart pondered by his touch.

"Why are you quiet all of a sudden?" Justin asked

"Why are you asking me? You should complete what you're doing."

"You're still about what happened in the hospital?"

Mira scorned.

"What should I be angry about? Mira, the goody two pants, the ugly duckling thought her claim could be believed but I was so stupid, no matter what I say people still my claim to be false. I was so stupid to believe you're going to believe me against Maddie."

"You can stop talking, I'm done," he said calmly as Mira averted her eyes to see her hand, she didn't notice the bandage was done.

"Oh, thank you," she calmly said as she stood up along with Justin.

"You forgot your bag," Justin said taking notice of her first aid kit.

"I'll take it," she said silently as Justin was unable to hear, not recognizing Justin as also bent down to take the kit, her hand touched Justin's hand and then her heart began to ponder but it only became fast when she raised her head to kiss Justin's lips.

Her eyes looked into his eyes numb, speechless though she felt her whole body was electric, her mind clouded with so many emotions and then Justin ejected.

"Oh, I," Justin tried speaking but he didn't know what could leave his lips.

"I needed to go," Mira spoke sternly as she walked away.

She made sure to walk far from where Justin was, her heart pondering she raised her hand to feel her chest, the best of her heart was more than that of the sound.

She was away from the camp area as she exhaled loudly, why was her heart feeling so fast, she just wanted it to stop so she wouldn't skip a beat.

"Mira, what have you gotten yourself into?" She scolded herself as she dug her hands into her hair.

After a while, she felt calm but then she began to recognize her environment, she was among trees, dark, cold as the wind blew through, there was no one around.

Looking around, it made her remember the moment, it felt like her dream, the gentle breeze began to blow violently as the trees flapped their leaves wildly and then she once again dug her hands into her head feeling a severe headache.

The pain was so severe she squeaked in pain turning into cries, shutting her eyes tightly as an image of someone ran around the place in a flash, she couldn't get a glimpse of the person but as the person stopped, she opened her eyes with the color inked with deep red, her teeth grew fangs.

Everyone was gathered around, Matthew and Maddie looked around for their partner, getting to Matthew's tent, Matthew was the first to discover Justin in front of Mira's tent.

"Justin," Maddie called out to him taking a small race she ran to take a look at him.

"Justin, why are you here?"

"Oh, I came here to get Mira's hand treated since you were not available."

"You know what, let's go, we have a night gathering, and your my partner," Maddie changed her face which was filled from a frown to a smile, she didn't want to get annoyed about Justin's doting attitude towards Mira, besides, it wouldn't be something that much.

"Okay," he calmly said and then Maddie tangled her arm around him leaving when Matthew spoke.

"If you said you came to get Mira's arm treated then where is she?" They both stopped turning around.

"She was moving somewhere into the forest, I couldn't call or ask her to stop, she seemed angry with me she wouldn't have answered me even if I told her."

Matthew turned around when Justin spoke again.

"She wouldn't have gone that far, she would be coming, maybe, I could-"

"There's no need to explain, Justin, you've said she went into the woods, I'm sure she would be back. Let's go, there is no need of looking for Mira, trust me when I say she'll be back, c'mon, let's go, is about time and we can't miss it."

Maddie was able to convince them as they walked to the night gathering. Moving away from the place, the moon which was covered with the cloud faded away and then, the moon shone in a blue light.

With the light that shone, a person dropped to the ground with his neck bitten, Mira looked at the person on the floor as she scoffed having her fangs, when the moon shone on her, the fangs reduced but then her eyes were still red.
