Katherine's discomfort was evident as she averted her gaze from Xavier. Ziana emerged from the kitchen, holding a glass of water that Yael had fetched for her. Her embarrassment still lingered, but a flood of relief washed over her at the sight of her friend.
"You are finally here," she mumbled, placing the glass on the table and rushing to hug Katherine. With a small smile, Katherine patted her back, though the unsettling gazes of the three reapers sent chills down her spine, specifically from the middle child who seemed to be piercing right into her soul.
"Ivan called me this morning," She managed to say, her voice a bit shaky and letting Ziana know that she was aware of her results. The earlier relief was replaced by sadness on Ziana's face, and the two reapers looked at their elder brother, one who had arrived first and might have probably decoded her reasons for crying alone.
