"Come back," William asserted firmly, halting Damien in his tracks. When his son turned around, an expression of confusion and a furrowed brow on his face, William continued, "Take a seat here."
"Don't tell me you're aligning yourself with those creatures," Damien asked, a hint of surprise coloring his voice at his father's unexpected response. He couldn't fathom capitulating to them just because the rapport between the two families had been tarnished. He knew, deep down, that he cared for the Brown family more than anyone else.
"It's futile to resist, even if we try," William declared with a sigh, cruel memories from the past flashing through his mind. "From the moment Ziana was born, her destiny was etched as the Defender of the Human Realm. Regardless of the path she chooses or the decisions she makes, she'll inevitably be drawn into this hidden world someday. Sooner is better for humanity."
