Once the reapers stepped inside the old mansion, Lady Winter halted in the hall, turning to face Zayden with her arms crossed as she began her interrogation.
"I saved her from a vampire attack," Zayden replied, taking a seat on the couch and pulling out his broken phone to examine it. "Maybe it's her tantalizing energy that's attracting so much attention."
Suspecting that he was telling the truth, Lady Winter narrowed her eyes. Yael, one of the other reapers, jumped to Zayden's rescue, saying, "It's true. I confirmed with Ziana."
"What did you do to it?" Lady Winter asked, pretty sure that he wouldn't have come out unscathed without having some fun.
"I broke his fangs," Zayden answered, earning gasps from the other two reapers. He sighed and glanced at them. "But don't worry, he didn't seem to belong to the prominent society of supernaturals. Maybe just a rogue."
