The following day, as Paskha expected, no beasts were found around them. Instead, he found Conrad sleeping soundly by lying against a tree.
'Didn't he say he would be the watchman? Why is he sleeping soundly as if he was sure there would be no impending danger?' Paskha didn't care about the young man, walked over to the tent, and waited for Sharleen to wake up there.
It was still a bit dark, and the sun had not fully risen yet―no wonder Sharleen and Conrad weren't awake yet. On the other hand, Paskha was used to getting up at dawn, even before sunrise, thanks to his routine on Deerhill. And per usual, he sat crosslegged to meditate and train in his mind space.
