The housekeeper expected Paskha would throw a tantrum, grumble and run away with no intention of returning.
But who is Paskha? Even though his physical body was only that of a seven-year-old child, he had memories of when he had become a golden general. Of course, receiving this haughty treatment and condescending tone from the head housekeeper didn't affect him in the least.
He knew very well what Sir Clove's residence was like, and even if he had dared to intrude, between the two sides of this door was an invisible layer of electricity. Without the head housekeeper's or Sir Clove's approval, this electrical coating would electrocute anyone who tried to trespass.
"Okay. I understand."
The unexpected reaction from this little boy dumbfounded the head of the housekeeper. Even more so when Paskha turned and walked towards the gate and waited there like a gatekeeper.
Is that kid only seven years old? In the end, the housekeeper also walked forward and stood next to Paskha. The sun would set soon, and even though this town was safe without any criminals, it didn't mean it was safe from attacks by the soul beasts who decided to stalk this place.
The beasts would only come out of their hiding places at night. Thus, low-level cultivators and ordinary humans were advised to stay home once it got dark. Even if one had to go outside urgently, they should at least leave the house in groups.
Only high-level cultivators would venture out at night alone, and groups of soldiers would patrol all night just in case. Therefore, the housekeeper was worried about Paskha's safety.
"Thank you for accompanying me here, Sir Asher."
Asher glanced at Paskha in amazed. Had he ever said his name? He was sure he had not introduced himself to this child. Then… how did this kid know his name?
"Who wants to accompany you? I just don't want any blood in front of my master's house."
"I know. But still, I thank you."
'Hm… the way this boy spoke was exceptionally polite and respectful.' Thought Asher. Even before, this kid added 'Sir' in front of his name―this was the first time anyone had called him master instead of a lowly servant.
Like it or not... Asher had fond with this child.
"What's your name? Why do you want to find my master?"
"My name is Paskha. And Sir Clove is a teacher at my school."
"I see. Even though you are my master's disciple, I still cannot let you enter the mansion."
"I know. I'll be waiting here. Don't worry, Sir Asher. I won't make things difficult for you on purpose."
Asher sighed in resignation to hear it. Why did it feel like he had become a bad guy for this little one? Well, even if he wanted to permit Paskha to go inside, he still couldn't do it.
Sir Clove's residence was not an ordinary house like that of other humans, and this house was built using thousands of year-old soul plant materials.
Automatically this house had soul skills and formed a defensive force as a defense. Only the landlord who has made a lifetime contract with the soul plant could grant permission for anyone to live in this building.
If a stranger accidentally sets foot in the house, a heavy gravity like a thousand tons of iron would crush on that person, or a horrifying illusion would fill the person's head―if one couldn't handle it, they would faint, or worse... dead.
Thanks to the uncommon state of the mansion, there weren't many who worked there―only five people, including Asher.
Asher was in charge of receiving guests and was the head of the other four. The other was the cook and the gardener; the remaining two were maids who cleaned the house.
"I don't know when my master will return. How about I take you home? You can leave a message, and I'll pass it on to the master if you'd like."
"Thank you for the offer, Sir Asher. But I want to tell Sir Clove the results of the emergence ritual myself."
"Oh? I almost forgot that today is the emergence day. Is your result satisfactory?"
"Pretty much." Paskha's confident answer intrigued Asher.
"What is it?"
"I can't tell you that," answered Paskha bluntly without having to think twice. "I want Sir Clove to find out first."
Asher rolled his eyes lazily, listening to the boy's answer. "Certainly, my lord is not the first to know it. The keeper of the Crystal orb and your friends must have already known that."
"They were the ones who were with me at the ritual site, while Sir Clove and you were outsiders. How can you all be equal?"
Despite feeling somewhat irritated, this boy's answer did make sense.
Asher became increasingly curious about the result of this child's emergence.
"What about your parents? Don't you want to tell them first?"
"…" for a few moments, Paskha did not answer, making Asher feel that he had spoken wrongly. "My parents… passed away when I was only one."
'Ah! I did misspeak!' For the umpteenth time, Asher sighed heavily. He was only dealing with a child, but strangely… why did he feel he was talking to someone significant to this country?
Asher did not know how to improve the atmosphere that suddenly became gloomy. He even felt a powerful aura enveloping this child, making him wonder, how high is this child's innate mana level to make him break into a cold sweat?
Fortunately, Paskha quickly recovered from his sadness and smiled brightly at the older man. In an instant, Asher no longer sensed the frightful aura.
"I don't really remember what my parents were like, so… please don't pity me."
That's right. Paskha did not need pity. Even though he had no parents, he could still be a respected hero who greatly contributed to the kingdom.
