Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Unexpected results

After the massive spectacle that Pheobe had created, not much interesting happened.

A lot of attention had been focused on Pheobe. Due to her stellar performance, she had been asked to follow a member of staff that had been called in to escort her into a different room. Inside were 5 other students, 3 boys and 2 girls. She was the sixth and had been informed that they were all students that had received at least a gold grade aptitude and that they were tested from in the other venues. They were all asked to get to know each other as they would be seeing each other a lot more in the academy.

Back in the venue, the tests proceed at record speed, at this point about 95% of the test at been completed and Pheobe's results had remained unbeaten Anka had been the only one in his class to have not yet been tested. The highest grade anyone in his class had achieved was silver and two students had received it.

There was an invisible boundary that separated the lowest 3 grades from the highest. this boundary was hard to overcome which is why the number of people with gold-grade aptitudes decreased drastically compared to those with silver-grade aptitudes. This was a natural separation that made it hard for sub-gold graders to surpass more gifted students but it was not impossible to overcome. Arrogance and laziness could make the aptitudes useless.

Anka could not recall the names of his classmates, disregarding the most important students, namely due to never actually learning it. He did not particularly find it useful to know and would go the reasonable lengths to remain out of the public eye as it hindered him.

He was now at the centre of attention whether he wanted it or not. He had no choice and so he walked, taking long, confident strides with his lanky build as always, feeling the countless eyes on him. He wasn't uncomfortable or nervous just annoyed but tried to suppress that feeling. Eventually, he would reach the stage and head to the only empty soul calibrator. His classmates had to spend a few seconds to recall who he was and even the teachers were not spared.

"Huh, what was there someone like that in our school, I don't recall ever seeing him he looks so confident and has an almost regal aura surrounding him."

"Really, I think I remember seeing him a few times but he didn't talk to anyone and was alone when he hasn't spoken to, he had one of the best results so maybe that's why no one paid attention to him."

"Well after today, it's not as if we will interact. Anyway, what kind of aptitude do you think he will get."

"Most likely a Fysicas or Elementas. It's difficult to guess and Paraxenos aptitudes are uncommon. even in this single venue filled with thousands of people only about 7% received such and that is not a constant... well it is an interesting thought experiment if anything else"

"True"

All eyes focused on the stage. Those from his school focused on him, the others in the venue didn't pay much attention to him, focusing on the other four soul calibrators. they would pay attention when his results were ready.

Anka looked at the official in her white uniform and greeted her with a nod to show respect. This was uncommon as many students simply wanted their results as quickly as possible. despite its subtlety, it improved the officials' image of Anka. She quickly gave Anka the necessary information like she had done many times before.

After placing his hand on the Matamas and waiting he thought about his mother. She had rarely ever used her aptitude. maybe it was because she wasn't particularly good at using it or maybe it was too difficult for her to use. He once saw her using it and it had drained her massively. It must have had a very large SP usage for that to happen and she was a strong and proud mother. He never heard about his father and maybe it was for the best. He had been told that he died shortly before he was born in a war, but he couldn't obtain any more information other than that.

Blink.

The Blinking screen captured his attention and the official could not speak, stumbling on her words to show her disbelief, "T,... this. The calibrator must be broken, let me reset it to confirm these results". This grabbed everyone's attention as this had not happened with anyone else. It did make sense that the calibrators could malfunction after a long session of usage. but the others were fine and it had been almost 2 and a half thousand years since they had first designed. There was no way that they had not been improved to near perfection since that time.

After repeating all the steps and his results were displayed, no words could describe the expression on the official's face, perhaps it was awe, surprise or joy or a mix of all one could not tell anything apart from its positiveness. Then she began to speak. She was not louder than the other officials and the crowd yet all could hear her voice. "Soul power: 750, Class Fysicas, all fields are under your command. Grade: Platinum."

Silence. The silence felt like an eternity and only when the food in a student's hand fell to the ground was it broken. In front of such overwhelming results, you would be shocked and struggle to speak.

All that could be heard at first was "Wow". Later when people finally digested the information an uproar occurred. This was mostly due to both high soul power and the grade.

"Unbelievable, his soul power is the same as the highest recorded during an aptitude test in history"

"What kind of monster must he be to have such a high capacity of soul power, isn't he too gifted"

"And don't forget about that grade! Its platinum rank for goodness sake, platinum rank! Only about 5 people per decade are blessed enough to receive that."

"Everyone is going to want him after he graduates, and he will surely reach the top"

Anka couldn't help but sigh, it looked as though he would get a lot of attention placed on him from now on. What a headache. The high-ranked official whose name was Sir Ottar who had overseen the testing had decided to personally introduce himself to Anka, out of respect for this future powerhouse.

He would be the one to lead him to the room that held all of the other talents. There would be 3 other students who had the qualifications to enter to the room before Anka. None more after. Sir Ottar had decided to wait until all of the tests had concluded, before leading Anka into the room because of how little there was left. Once confirmed, Anka followed Ottar who on the way there would continuously talk about the Novaium, and the magnificence of Syvernisi and the TOI. It was jarring to Anka who simply wanted to go home.

Upon entering the room all eyes looked at the newcomers. Those who had been here from the beginning showed signs of confusion because Anka was the only person who had been escorted by a high-ranking member, they could only draw up conclusions of Anka being especially special even compared to them. However. their pride would not allow them to be outdone and so they stood up high to show that they were all equals.

Again. Anka sighed.
