The sun came up with the sound of birds and water from the beach, morning crickets and frogs waking up the household, only grandmother is already taking her relaxing bath, at least it seems less relaxing then other times she took it.
Ocean is probably not awake yet and she has prepared a mega breakfast for them.
She wants to make sure she is physically and mentally strong, more than ever and then she will take her to the grave of her son and his wife's grave.
Children that die before you, it is impossible to feel the pain of a mother, Ocean was the one that held her strong for so long.
Now losing even a grandchild she accepts that it is fate, but knowing a possibility that her grandchild won't ever return is impossible.
Life without Ocean is a flaw in her brain society, even if her mother and her grandmother told her that life never ends by death, but it doesn't stop her from being sad and devastated, their souls are gone and she is left alone.
But as grandma knows best, she could not stop the will of the gods and slowly accept his faith, " she is still so young " she whimpers in her water and slaps shortly on her cheeks, stands up from the bathtub, take a towel near the tub and dries herself off.
"Hanika, get yourself together ! You need to be strong for her" she tells herself in the mirror and so she dresses herself in a very beautiful african dress with animal drawings and knocks on Ocean's chamber door, no answer, she immediately panicked, was that the last time she would see her granddaughter?
she opens the door in a spur, screaming " Oceania Nnem !" in full name and see the empty room in horror, she starts crying and pleads the gods, she screams " you lied to me!" and all of a sudden hears a voice asking " what do you mean i lied to you mamu?" It was Ocean with a bread stick in her hand with eggs in the other hand. She had been in the garden and had taken the bread from their shelves. It looked ready and to be baked, her mamu looked at her with a blunt face not being able to register that her granddaughter is still present.
" Oceania?" she says not knowing if it was a hallucination of a memory of before and Ocean nods, " why are you like this mamu? don't be upset" she pleads and Hanika runs off to her little granddaughter she takes her into her arms and softly squeeze her, " i thought you were gone forever" she said and Ocean then laughs " oh come on mamu! I am still here healthy and chub" they both scattered in laughter.
Life is only today and somehow being able to have the chance to see her granddaughter and wish her well and tell her all the necessary things she could take with her to this other world, she is blessed because others don't get to have that.
They spend the morning together, cooking, singing, dancing and talking during gardening. She visits many places in a short time and at last, they came to the graves of Ocean's father and mother.
" It's here?" shakes her voice when she ask , grandma offu nods " he is your father Babeng Nnem and your mother Yotri wife of Nnem" she tells her granddaughter how they died, they both wear colorful dresses for this occasion, she tells Ocean that death is not the end and that's why they celebrate them.
"he had a good celebration, he was a good man and he served the marine and your mother stayed to help me out, may their kind soul be reborned somewhere and someday where life accept them as they accept life and let them live in abundance, they were people to be proud of and i was a proud mother , Oceania, when you were born on the sea your mother Yotri told your father to call you after the sea, they drawn while saving you and their corps where separately found in the see during an accident. I want you to remember them as they were, amazing courageous people , not afraid of anyone or anything , strong and determined, just like you." she places her hand on Ocean's cheek and Ocean cries in her arms.
" Keep protecting me Mom and dad" she says in between a tear and so they praise nature and the sun for this moment and go hand in hand home.
It is now night, and they are enjoying tea near the window bench, " this is nice isn't it?" say Mamu and Ocean nod, " it was the best day ever!" she adds.
An hour after she tucks Ocean in and needed to tell Ocean at this moment but knowing Ocean she would disrupt natural order, " Oceania, when i am one day gone, know that i'll be just like your parents always with you, remember death as a happy event, it means i can finally rest and you can be protected by me and i will live on in your memory, i will not be here physically but i will be there in your mental world, i will never forget you even after death and promise to guide you till the day you join the stars ", Ocean looks confused at her grandmother but she thinks she understand and nod slowly.
Her eyes close and a kiss is pressed on her forehead and that same night Ocean and their ancestor's book vanishes in front of her grandmother's eyes.
"Goodbye my Oceania" she said and fell on her knees upon the ground devastated but this time a little bit more accepting.
