Chapter 60 - Trick 59: Creating a Wand... With Magic!

Ace was at the Weasley home, sitting at the breakfast table, reading the newspaper. There was a knock at the door and Ace looked around, saying "I'll get it." Molly Weasley smiled, "Thank you, Dear!" as she prepared breakfast.

Ace walked to the door and blinked as he said "Wong?" Wong looked at Ace and said in surprise, "Ace? What are you doing here?" Ace was stunned and retorted "No, no. What are YOU doing here!"

Wong stepped aside and Hermione was revealed as he said "I received a letter from an Owl, it was very strange." Ace smiled at Hermione, who hugged him, he rubbed her head and said to Wong, "Yeah. That happens, they're everywhere here."

Wong nodded and frowned, "Email is so much easier." Ace's lips twitched and Wong waved, "Anyway, goodbye." Ace looked at Wong creating a portal and hesitated for a minute before saying "Wong."

Wong turned back and Ace sighed, "Thank you." Wong smiled slightly and nodded before turning back and stepping into the portal, he suddenly paused and turned back to Ace, saying "Your apprentice is a very smart girl."

Ace smiled and replied "I know." Wong nodded and thought for a moment before adding, "And her Master is a man worthy of my respect." Ace looked at Wong strangely as he continued, "Not many Mages can resist the allure of the Mystic Arts. I've seen many abandon everything for it. A mage who can give up knowledge for their ideals is destined to become a very powerful mage…"

He paused before adding, "My father told me this when I was a child. He also mentioned that you were a good example of a true Master of the Mystic Arts… Maybe one day, you can come back."

Ace was speechless, he didn't know what to say. Normally Wong avoided him, hearing him say all this was really odd and disorienting. The only thing that came out was a slightly hoarse, "Thank you, Wong. It means a lot."

Wong smiled slightly and nodded, "Goodbye." before closing the portal.

Hermione looked up at Ace, who smiled "You've grown quite a bit." Hermione smiled happily, saying "It's been a few months, Master. Of course, I'll grow." as she tapped on her eyes.

Ace touched his own and felt wetness. He turned away and wiped his eyes, his face becoming slightly red as he said quickly "It's the morning dew, I'm allergic." Hermione giggled and said "Sure!" before walking inside, asking "Where's Harry and Ron?"

Molly looked over and hugged Hermione, saying sweetly "There you are, Dear! How have you been?" Hermione looked awkward and replied "Good, yourself?" Molly laughed, "Very good, dear. Your friends are upstairs, still sleeping I bet. Run along, Breakfast will be ready soon!"

George and Fred ran down the stairs, saying in unison "Breakfast! Sausage, I bet." Hermione ran up the stairs and Ace sat back down, grabbing his coffee cup as George and Fred sat on his sides, saying "Librarian Brand! How ya doin', mate! Good? Hungry?"

Ace rolled his eyes and replied "Obviously not as hungry as you?" The duo looked at each other and laughed "Hungary? We're cheering for Ireland! Honestly, thought you'd be able to read, Mate! Hahahaha!"

Ace chuckled and shook his head, waving his newspaper at them.

Hermione dragged Ron and Harry down the stairs as they ate and packed their things. Arthur rushed in and said "Come on! Hurry! We'll be late!" Molly waved them off, saying "Goodbye, dears! Stay safe!"

Ace waved back as the group walked into the forest.

As they were walking, Ace pulled Hermione to him, asking "And so? What have you learned?" Hermione looked at him and explained "Well, Master Wong taught me about basic spells and the fundamentals of the Mystic Arts…"

Ace rolled his eyes and said "Boring! What did he teach you? What's your progress with the simple shield?" Hermione bit her lips and said "I can only make a shield 80% of the time and it can barely block a single strike…"

Ace was amazed and rubbed her head, laughing "Blocking a strike! Very good!" Hermione added weakly, "Well, actually… the strike is more of a tap…" Ace froze and Hermione continued softer, "Well, tap is a strong word!"

Ace pinched her lips, his eyes twitching as he said "I get it! Show me-" before pausing and frowning, "Actually, show me later."

Hermione was confused and Ace leaned over, whispering in her ear, "The Ministry is looking for the Hero 'Cloak'." Hermione was stunned and said quickly "What are you going to do?!" Ace looked around and shushed her, saying "Keep it down. Your Master isn't going to Azkaban. Believe it or not, I have many tricks up my sleeves."

He straightened out and grinned, "You should know, your teacher was once a Wanted criminal in America." Hermione's lips twitched and she replied softly, "I don't think that is something you should be bragging about…"

Ace waved his hand and said "Anyway! To celebrate your success, I got you something!" Hermione was startled and Ace showed her his hands, she looked at them, seeing nothing.

He chuckled and pulled out a box from behind her ear, saying "Ehhh?" while grinning. Hermione rolled her eyes and giggled, taking the box as Ace cleared his throat, saying "It was supposed to be a birthday gift, however! I don't know when your birthday is! So…"

Hermione replied "September 19!" as she opened the box, gasping!

Ace rubbed his chin and the group looked over, Ron and Harry walked over, asking "Wow! Where did you-" Hermione looked at Ace, saying "Thank you!"

Ace smiled and rubbed her head, saying "Good job on your practice. This is what you deserve." Harry asked strangely, "Practice?" Ron was also confused and Hermione explained "I went to visit the- Magic University this summer… Ace is my Teacher, so…"

The duo said in unison "Ohhhhh…" before Ron turned to Ace, grinning "Can I also have you as a teacher?" Ace curled his lips and said "There's a lot of reading." Ron's lips trembled and he chuckled awkwardly, "Nevermind…"

Harry looked at Ace and asked "Where did you get that, Ace?" Ace smiled at him and replied "Ollivander's. I went to talk to the old man for some research I was doing and bought a wand as thanks…" he scratched his cheek as Hermione looked at him and said "You're lying!"

Ace looked away as Hermione frowned, "This must have cost you a fortune!" as she held the wand.

It was a beautiful light brown wand with a more squared shape, however the corners were rounded off. There was also a pattern on the handle with diamond shaped spaces, curling out to a 'V' at the pommel.

There were runic lines along the wand in the middle that glowed golden.

Hermione held the wand while Ron and Harry looked at it saying "Very nice."

Ace smiled and said "It wasn't that expensive, no, in fact, it barely cost anything. Hermione looked at him and he winked, "I provided the materials." she sighed and gripped the wand.

It trembled and she waved at a tree, a beam shooting out and burning a hole in the tree instantly!

She was stunned and Ace cleared his throat, smiling "Well, the materials were a bit strange…" Harry asked "Strange?" and Ron shouted "Bloody hell! Just a bit!?" Ace looked at the tree hole and said "Well, they are very special. Even Ollivander had never used them before…"

He tapped on the wand and added "A very strong wand, more of a metal wood compound." he then added with excitement "I had no idea that metal and wood could be made into a new material! It was really excellent to watch up close!"

Hermione looked at him in confusion, to which Ace waved his finger as they continued walking, "You see, the Wood used was turned into a metallic wood hybrid through magic and during the process various wand cores were spliced together, therefore it is an experimental wand!"

Hermione looked at the wand as Ace continued, "There's a Phoenix Feather, Dragon Heartstring, and Unicorn blood… Basically, the feather and heartstring were spliced and drenched in unicorn blood before being turned into a core."

Ron and Harry were stunned, while Hermione asked in shock, "You can do that!?" Ace smiled happily and replied "I didn't think so either! Apparently nobody had tried before." however what Ace didn't know was that his magic played a huge role.

Ollivander wasted many materials after Ace left, trying to recreate the wand materials, to no avail.

Little to Ace's knowledge, his inherent magic had been growing the more he used it. However the increment of growth was just barely above what it started as. This didn't mean it was useless, though! The more he used his own magic, the more his magic grew!

Therefore, the only reason the metal and wood came together was his magic. The only reason the core became what it was, was because of his magic. This wand basically had a part of Ace inside of it, infused with his magic, it was incredibly powerful.

Hermione gripped the wand and felt a little emotional. She hugged Ace and said "Thank you, teacher…" Ace was startled and smiled to himself, rubbing Hermione's back as he replied "It's what you deserve, as I said before."
