The next morning Dandelion woke up early. She had nightmares, could not sleep well. She spent the whole night thinking and thinking, tried to process Wilfred's story. She had hard time to believe the heard information, even after Wilfred showed her how fast he can move. And to be honest, she had doubts about his state of mind. So she decided to go down, and ask him as much questions as she could, to make sure he is mot lying.
Wilfred was sitting on the couch, in the exact same position Dandelion left him last night.
"Good morning!" shouted Wilfred, when Dandelion only reached the half of the spiral staircase.
"Good morning." answered the girl, once she came down.
"How are you? How did you sleep?"
"I'm good, slept well." answered Dandelion automatically.
"Nice." Wilfred was not in a talkative mood.
"So would you be able to turn me into a vampire?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because it is not working like this. You are either a vampire, or not. No transformation. You can basically forget everything you learned from the media about us."
"Then why in all the stories if you bite me, I will be vampire too?"
"Because we are supernatural, and you, humans are not. You just want to be. There were a few people, in the Middle Ages, who tried to turn themselves into vampires… let's say, it did not end well."
"How many vampires existing?"
"Approximately one thousand."
"You know all of them?"
"Yes."
"Can you please prove again that you are really a vampire, and not a schizophrenic person? It's hard to believe what you are saying, and I will only be able to truly accept that it is the truth, if you prove it to me."
"Haha, for sure." laughed Wilfred. it was the first time Dandelion saw him smile.
"I am already amazed how well you take this whole story. You truly impressed me. You are the first 'helper' of mine, who did not start screaming, freaking out, or tried to ran away after I enlightened them. I really like the fact, that you ask questions, and try to get a better view, and give me opportunity to prove my truth to you." Dandelion did not even know where to look, she became so shy. She could not really figure out how to take this compliment. So instead, she started to play with her hair in a very adorable way.
Wilfred, of course could not take his eyes off of the shy girl, who was sitting in front of him. Dandelion mesmerized him in the first moment they met. He wanted to discover as much as it was possible about the girl, he felt like she is going to be a perfect company. She was beautiful, smart and intelligent, so he knew she is going to be an incredible 'helper': she is going to amaze everyone around her, will understand every situation, will be able to create alibi for him every time he'll need it, will be able to manage his stuff.
Other than finding her beautiful, Wilfred basically saw Dandelion as a tool. As a tool for his own benefits. In his long life humans were coming, and going, none of them made too much impact on his life. He never really cared about these people, used them till he needed them, and then let them die when their time arrived. And after it, Wilfred was never really thinking about them. Thus, he did not plan to be emotionally attached to Dandelion either… he was planning to maintain only a boss – employee relationship with her. A boss – employee relationship, where the employee is basically worshipping her boss. He wanted to commit everything to make Dandelion fell in love with him, so that he could tie her to himself from an emotional aspect as well. He was planning to create an obsession in her towards himself, so he could have even more power above her.
But Dandelion was not that naive as she seemed like. She was not planning to get close to Wilfred at all, because he kidnapped her, and forced her into a lifetime long role as his 'helper' after all. She was not happy about her situation at all, but she knew her best option is to adapt her new lifestyle to her own personal needs as much as possible instead of rebel against someone, who could easily break all her bones…if Wilfred was really a vampire.
"So? How will you prove it to me?"
"Look at my face." said Wilfred. Dandelion's jaw dropped. His face within two seconds aged so much, that he was nearly unrecognisable. He seemed as old as a ninety years old great grandpa. And then suddenly his face changed back to it's original condition: his face was twenty-five years old again.
"How did you do it?"
"Magic" winked Wilfred.
"That's how no one recognise that I am not aging in reality."
"I see."
"Okay. Go, eat some breakfast, I guess I have some food in the freezer. And after you ate, we'll departure."
"To where?"
"New York. I told you yesterday, that we are leaving to the USA."
"Yes, but I did not think we are going today."
"Me neither, but I kind of have to go away till… someone… okay, till my biggest enemy finds out where I am going to live. He also does not have to know that I already found a 'helper'. So chop chop, hurry up."
On the afternoon both of them were already ready to departure. Dandelion had not so much clothes with her, nor a big suitcase. She basically had what she took from home, so it did not cost too much time for her to get ready. Wilfred finished packing his stuff early too, he was planning to buy every necessary thing in New York.
They set off at three o'clock, and arrived to Manhattan at nine o'clock at night. Wilfred took Dandelion in bridal style, put her bag on his back, and he ran to till the Atlantic ocean. They rested on in a nice coffee shop near to the beach in a French village for an hour or so, then Wilfred let Dandelion know the fact that they are going to swam across the ocean. She got scared, did not really believed it is possible to carry out, but eventually she got convinced that everything is going to be alright.
They crossed the ocean within two hours, Wilfred constantly came to the surface, so that Dandelion could breath. He was extremely careful with her through the whole journey, she finally started to feel safe in the arm of this very mysterious, and handsome vampire. In New York, Wilfred immediately went to a cheap hostel near to the dock, where they left the ocean, ordered Dandelion to take a hot shower after the travel in the cold water, collected all her vet clothes, took everything of theirs to a washing machine place nearby, and dried it all in the dryer.
When Dandelion came out from the shower cabin, he was already back with her backpack and clothes.
"Here is what we are going to do tomorrow: we'll start the day in some very expensive clothes shop, such as Prada, and will buy clothes for you, and for me as well. The reputation's essential part to appear in Manhattan in fashionable, preferably designer clothes, also, we both will visit hairdresser (no offense). Then we are going to look for an apartment, what I will buy. Then on the afternoon, we are going to buy gadgets, more clothes, everything what is a requirement for modern life in the twenty-first century. Your tasks are going to be the followings: help me find good, fashionable outfits, teach me the recent fashion, choose my hairstyle, and shape of beard. You will also help me buy all the needed things. You are going to show me how to use smartphone, and will introduce me to the internet. I don't think I have to highlight it out for you, but fifty years ago a lot of things were not existing yet, and so this time I especially need your help to catch up with the world.
You will also get expensive things, and if everything is going according to the plane, till tomorrow night, we are going to truly look like people from the upper class."
"I will try my best to teach you everything you need to know."
"Good. I will take on a new name, so you do. I need new identity, because I cannot use the one, what I had in the fifties… obviously. Same guy, same face, same name, same background… not that fortunate. And you will need new papers as well, especially because I don't want my enemies to discover your true identity, and because of the green card too. By tomorrow morning, I will get every needed paper from my connections."
"Can I keep my first name at least? I got it from my mother, and I love it so much."
"Sure thing. And oh, I nearly forgot. Tomorrow night we are having a meeting with my special friend, Daniella. I heard, she is in New York too."
"Old friend?"
"Yes, she is. Daniella is a vampire too, and a very good lover. You don't have to come actually."
Dandelion's heart was beating hurtfully. For some reason the realisation of the fact, that Wilfred had, has, and will have affairs shocked her. She did not want to be close to him, and did not think sexually about him, but somehow this last sentence hurt her. She saw him as a hermit, could not imagine him being caring towards someone else than her….even herself did not know why.
But this was Wilfred's intention. He planned to wake up the love in Dandelion by making her jealous with other women. He wanted her to be so obsessed with him, that she would be ready to do anything he asks her to do.
