Though, that was past. Most normal students that didn't have much interaction and only had some stories to go by, actually came to respect Luvi. Thinking how greatly he hid his talents when others were flaunting it all around.
Which in turn gave him an edge over others.
Even some students that hated Luvi to the core, felt a bit sorry for Luvi. Some even claim to have been the reason Luvi performed so well.
Causing the whole atmosphere of the academy to fill with tales of Luvi, the silent kid who came first and was at the core of countless events, acting as a victim each time. Until, he eventually became one.
As for Rose, many thought she was sad due to what happened to Luvi. For all they knew, she was Luvi's friend before he became a total introvert, hiding from the public. And seeing one's friend to be treated worse than a dog on the stream. Anyone would be traumatized.
Which earned her some pity points. Something she didn't want at all.
The truth was something else entirely.
Coming to her room, Rose put her hand on her side, feeling the phantom pain of Luvi's bite.
Her memories of that day were hard to forget, but she had done it and recovered her cool. Even facing Luvi and acting above him when in front of her group. But her heart still trembled when Luvi exposed his teeth to the world.
Making her recall the old memories and digging at her past trauma.
And with how much Luvi was famous in her academy, it was hard for her to not come across the El Raton fan arts or posters that were promoted in the academy to show pride in their students.
Of course, the one promoted was a cartoon version of Luvi with his ability active. But the horrific scene of a man's head inside Luvi's teeth kept flashing in Rose's mind, making her think it might be her head in Luvi's jaw, one day.
"The little bird is here… been waiting for you for a while now."
The voice came, causing Rose to turn towards her bedroom, where a woman was sitting.
A woman that sent shivers down her spine.
"Now, now. This is no time to be scared. Didn't you get what you wanted most? Though I only asked you to torment him. I never said about pushing him to that state."
"I… I was not involved in this… I swear."
"Sorry, but I can't believe you. And sad for you, I also can't find the people responsible for it, so the only one I can think of was you."
"So tell me, why did you go against my order?"
"I.. I truly didn't know. I.. I want him to suffer. Such a simple end… I don't want that for him."
At those words, the woman stopped, before giving away a smile.
"Hmm, if I didn't know your true heart, I would have thought you were just joking. But knowing you little bird. I can believe your words a bit."
"But I am someone thorough, I still need to make sure."
******
"The river is smaller."
Even though he was sleeping, Luvi can still feel the spirit nodes that existed in his body and with enough focus, he was even able to circulate his mana according to the directions of the forbidden method mentioned in the book.
Which in turn, helped his body digest the dream demon essence that was floating ownerless in his body.
With time, he was even able to feel the change in his library of memories. It was not as dark as before.
Though the biggest change would be the small egg that grew on his head.
"Probably the work of technique, usually, I would be in control of my body and incapable of accessing whatever this space is. But now that I am in it, this is probably how that Nightmare avatar is born."
The technique itself was a physique changing technique that would mutate a human into something bizarre.
The knight path was just methods to alienate, mutate and further evolve the weak human body into something stronger, by using various methods as well as materials.
A technique that would ultimately cause even the DNA to change, making Knight practitioners, not so human. The strong among them can't even sire children, as their race is too different from normal humans, causing them to suffer from breeding isolation.
And in Luvi's case, something similar was going to happen.
No, due to the technique he was using, the alienation was much worse.
"What is going on?"
The doctor was confused at what he was looking at.
"Is it cancer?"
He wondered, but looking at Luvi's scar ridden face, which has become grayer than before. He didn't know if this was the right answer to it.
"His body is getting stronger by the minute, his heart beat now matches that of a dog, but his blood pressure still remains stable."
The doctor was confused as well as his various colleagues.
This was a high profile patient and there were many eyes on him all the time. Any mistake and he might just lose his license.
He needs to find the answers fast, before the patient's body collapses under the sudden changes and he might be blamed for it.
"Doctor Kushal, something happened to his body once again… The needles can't penetrate his skin now… "
"... Go bring the 3rd grade needles made for strong hunters. And request for the help from the association."
"The patient can't be treated through normal civilian means anymore."
FIX was there, following every move of the doctor as well as most of the hospital staff. But seeing the panic on the doctor's faces, she panicked a bit. Wondering if this young man might actually die.
'Can't wait anymore.'
There were differences in drugs available for humans as well as hunters. The more miraculous a drug is, the harsher the requirements for the one that takes it.
A higher grade means one can take stronger drugs and vice versa.
As for the magical drugs that can break this conception and be used by virtually everyone?
There were few and far between.
But with Luvi's gift to Aoto, this had come true. The amount of potion recipes given to Aoto so that he can further his research were immense and under request of FIX, Aoto had developed one of the potions and given it to FIX.
A potion called the Spiritual resurgence.
A drug that clears the mind and strengthens the spirit. As for what spirit was?
FIX didn't understand it, in a world of rationality, the spirit was something closer to a nonsensical concept to her.
But things were different this time. She had known that this drug can recover any mental injury one suffered. And its materials were very expensive and it took some time for FIX to eventually find them all.
'Hope this works.'
She thought, as a small rat-like drone silently crawled up Luvi's body and injected him with the drug, not causing any changes on Luvi on the surface.
But the blood of Luvi started to fill up with pure spiritual energy.
An energy far stronger than the mana that floated in the air and virtually impossible to naturally occur naturally.
As for why she took her time, it was simple.
With the regular blood check ups on Luvi, it would be easily found that he had been injected with something alien without anyone's knowledge.
But considering the amount of changes Luvi's blood was going through these recent dangers and the change in his blood
It would be close to impossible for the hospital to find anything suspicious with Luvi.
Though the question still remains.
What was actually going on with Luvi?
FIX worried about him, worried about the future as well as the thing that Luvi had been hiding from the world as well as her.
Why would Luvi never use these techniques for himself and give them out to the world so freely. There should be a reason.
Because if Luvi wanted, he could have created an empire depending on these techniques. People would have begged him for them and he can pick and choose on who to give these to, exceeding the level of a hero.
But he didn't, he had chosen to popularize it and even planned to promote the awakening Serum among the poor masses with bright dreams.
Which made FIX understand that Luvi was readying the world for a war.
And through Luvi's talk with Nightmare as well as his escapades against the lizard people.
She knew the enemies might just be hiding in the world already. And Luvi had intended to find them.
But that was not possible anymore. Because Luvi, in his own hubris, was barely alive anymore. And there was a high chance he might die in the coming days. With his only legacy being the techniques he had given to her for the market she was going to release.
Which got delayed again, because of Luvi's current state.
