Yes, in a way, he was the perfect rival as well as training partner for Andy and the reason why Andy denied the request of his friend.
Now, in a room surrounded by officials, their phone was taken from them and they were told to sit closely in a room for a minute.

It was why Andy was in shock and unable to speak properly, the only interaction he could have was on the phone.

The officer, basically understanding the mental state of these students, sighed and asked Nikhil to sit back.
Who, seeing someone of higher authority and age, silently sat back on his seat and started to calm down a little.

Nikhil was traumatized and the officer can see it. Though the one that worried him more was Andy, at least NIkhil was putting out his emotions on the front, unlike Andy, who had fallen into thought after his phone was taken away from him.
But whatever it was, that was the job of a councelor or a psychiatrist. And besides, the path these kids were walking filled with death and misery, its what the life as an awakened person is. They were going to kill one day anyways.
And if it happens to be an old guard at their school which has turned into puppet of something sinister, then it's all the more better.
So, after calming down Nikhil and giving some words filled with understanding to Andy, he went to the main topic.

No matter what, these kids were included in this case anyways and to not impact their psyche, they need to understand what they faced. Which might give them some better understanding of what they achieved.

Luvi struggled at this point a bit, though, understanding that the situation was a bit dreary, he requested FIX.
