Chapter 28 - Submitting To Demands

It was the most boring fight that Albrecht had to go through— not because he was inferior to the vampire, but because he couldn't fly and engage him in the air.

So Albrecht had to wait on the ground for Claude to attack, and once he did, he would immediately fly up so Albrecht couldn't really hit him with any attacks.

Unless of course, he used his spatial slash skill and deplete his Zecian Aura. That would be counterproductive, and he won't have the chance to win if he did that.

"You know what, either you come down here to fight me, or you fly around like a coward." Albrecht taunted as he indifferently shrugged.

Before Claude could address him, he charged toward the frontlines, approaching a hoard of Black Gem Wolves and Silverback Wolves.

[Skill 'Sword of the Cosmos' activated]

Claude watched as Albrecht swung his sword around. He didn't have the right foundation in swordsmanship, but his 'Sword of the Cosmos' was strong enough to cut through the Silverback Wolves and push away the Black Gem Wolves.

"How dare he ignore me." Claude gritted his teeth in pure anger.

"Big brother!" Anastasia flew towards Claude with a worried expression on her face. "You should calm down. We're winning, we just have to watch and take it easy. Don't go picking fights with these lowly humans."

"But h-he took my Terror Ghoul Army— sigh~ you know what, you're right. Let's just watch this unfold for now." Claude hung is head down. In his peripheral vision, he watched as Albrecht easily took down five Silverback Wolves at once.

He looked at Claude and a smile appeared on his face.

"Coward." Albrecht mouthed.

Claude didn't have to hear it. He immediately realized what Albrecht was saying and it hit a nerve.

Claude grunted, and he instantly forgot what his sister just told him. Instead of waiting it out and achieving the victory they wanted, he lost all reason and charged at Albrecht with a resounding scream.

Once again, he summoned his Sariel Death Scythe, and he swung at Albrecht with full force7.

rack.

BAM!

There was a crack in the ground before earth spikes appeared on the ground. It knocked out countless Gold Rank Adventurers, and it stabbed and killed at least thirty of them. Just one attack alone caused a massacre, and it shocked everyone present.

Even Albrecht was having second thoughts about taunting the guy.

"Come here," Claude growled, stepping forward as he swung the scythe sideways, the force caused an energy shockwave to hit Albrecht, and he flew into the air without warning.

As he was zipping through the crowd, Albrecht stabbed the 'Sword of the Cosmos' to the ground in hopes that it would stop his momentum.

It didn't

A figure appeared in the air. It was Claude, jumping from where he was and aiming at Albrecht with a downward slash of his scythe.

Death loomed in front of Albrecht, and he almost panicked.

However, an idea came to his mind, and he put everything in that idea to work since this was the only way he could win against Claude.

On the ground, he found an abandoned shield, and he grabbed it as he whizzed past in the air.

Meanwhile, Claude was already on his descent, screaming at the top of his lungs as he brought his scythe down with full force.

Brimming with desperation and anxiousness, Albrecht imbued as much Zecian Aura as he could onto the shield and threw it at Claude. The shield hit him directly on the shin and he let out a yelp as he fell to the ground.

Claude was brought to his knees as he grabbed his shin and rubbed it.

[Skill 'Saddim's Touch' activated]

[Saddim's Touch (Unique, S-Rank)— active skill, allows the user to hold certain objects without touching them. Allows unwieldable weapons to be wielded by the user. If an enemy was touched, there's a 50% chance that a deterioration status will be placed. This rate increases exponentially the stronger the enemy is.]

Albrecht caught the Sariel Death Scythe in the air and pointed it at Claude's neck.

"Urk~!" Claude's pupils dilated as he realized that Albrecht was wielding his scythe.

'This is impossible, how could he wield my death scythe? Only someone from the Vampire Race could wield that scythe!' He thought to himself.

The fight against beasts and adventurers wore on, but when they witnessed Albrecht's victory against Claude, they stopped short in their tracks. For a brief moment, time had stopped and the two opposing sides halted their attacks.

A series of gasps erupted from the adventurers. With bated breaths, they anticipated what Albrecht was going to do next.

Claude's eyes narrowed as he helplessly searched for an opening. However, a lot of adventurers had already gathered around them.

He knew that one wrong move would end his life, and killing more adventurers would just rile up the others and aggravate the situation in the process.

"Just kill me." Claude gritted his teeth in frustration. At the very least, putting himself in danger would save his sister. It was his fault that he was brought down like this. Now he regretted not listening to his sister.

The adventurers murmured amongst each other, and some even told Albrecht to kill the monster already.

Regardless of their words, Albrecht had some other plans. Quite frankly, he had no idea what Claude's younger sister looked like, that's why he was unsure of asking for her.

Fwooosh~

Before Albrecht could withdraw the scythe from Claude's neck, a mysterious figure glided towards him. She had white flowing hair that reached to her waist, and red pupils as eyes. Her curves were in the right places, so much so that one wouldn't believe that she was just eighteen years of age.

For a vampire, this was young, but they follow the period of a human year so it wasn't that complicated to judge someone's age in human terms.

Albrecht didn't let her glide down, though, since doing so might give Claude the opening he needed. Adding to that, he had ascertained the physical appearance of Claude's sister, so now he could decide whether to go with the System's ridiculous requests or not.

And the moment Albrecht saw Anastasia in her glory, he immediately agreed with the System's request.

"What's your name?" Albrecht asked out of nowhere, causing Anastasia to step back since that was a weird question to ask in the middle of a confrontation.

"Anastasia... ?" She trailed off before shaking her head. She then glared at Albrecht. "Release my brother!"

"Sure, I'll release him if you promise two things." Albrecht continued, a conniving grin plastered on his face.

Anastasia gulped.

"First, you withdraw your army of beasts from here and stop your invasion. Second... I'm taking Anastasia as collateral." Albrecht continued, grabbing Anastasia by her arm and pulling her towards him.

[You have fulfilled the requirements]

[You have cleared the hidden quest: Stop The Invasion!]

[Generating rewards... two skills can be recorded in the Akashic Records of Space and Time]

[The skills ... and ... had been added to the Akashic Records of Space and Time]

The notification appeared in front of Albrecht all at once. In a split second, Albrecht realized that he succeeded.

Anastasia growled and exerted pressure on Albrecht. She also activated her skill 'Blood Coagulation' which allowed her to petrify a human when she stares into a human's eyes.

However, it didn't affect Albrecht. Instead, Albrecht fought off the pressure she emanated, canceling it out and bringing her to submission.

For some reason, there were hints of the Whitelock Bloodline in Albrecht's aura.

"B-but how?" Anastasia muttered, just when Claude agreed to Albrecht's demands.
