"H-how," Atlys forced out as she looked at the spear that was protruding from her chest and looked back to the person she considered to be one of her oldest friends, someone she knew before she awakened, and then continued to ask, "How could you?"
The man looked down at Atlys who fell to her knees and said with both excitement and melancholy, "I'm sorry that it had to be this way Atlys, you should know that trying to clear this Obelisk would have never succeeded in the first place." The man sighed as he raised his head to look at the sky above them and the many monsters flying throughout it as he continued, "You know Atlys, they offered us a high price and a way to survive even after we fail to clear this Obelisk, We had no choice but to make the decision that would allow us to live."
When Atlys hear the man's words, she just started to chuckle slightly before blowing into a pained laughter as blood continued to fall from the wound created by the spear, she looked at the man and spat at his face as she said, "So you betrayed me, just like that. Fuck You."
Mykel lowered his head and looked at Atlys and saw the light in her eyes starting to fade and said, "The situation was a lot more complicated than you know Atlys, though I guess that it doesn't matter now that you are dying.". He then calmly walked behind Atlys and grabbed the shaft of his spear and pulled it out and said while watching Atlys, "Goodbye Atlys, I hope you enjoy your afterlife on the other side."
The light continued to fade from Atlys' eyes and she was starting to slowly lose consciousness, Atlys felt at ease even knowing that she was going to die, however when Atlys started to slowly lower her eyelids for the final time, a pendant that she wore around her neck started to shine dimly and merged into her body and covered her body with a slight crimson film.
'So everything is going red right before I die, I heard most people see a white light though. I guess I'm special in that scenario.' Atlys thought as she couldn't see the film and thought it was just what people would call the light on the other side.
As the film of crimson light finally covered Atlys' completely, a voice spoke out throughout the surroundings and said, "It's not yet time for you to pass yet, I can't let you die here." As the voice spoke Atlys body started to fade out of existence before the eyes of the man and those who chose to defect along with him. The group was startled and raised their weapons and surveilled the surroundings as the voice spoke again only more faintly as it stated to Atlys' faded body, " I will see you once you re-awaken. I hope you don't keep me waiting for too long."
The surroundings the went silent and the people who were left, which consisted of all of those who chose to defect, then they started to murmur amongst themselves as they realized that Atlys' body had completely disappeared, one of the remaining people turned towards the man who stabbed Atlys and asked, "Boss, Is it possible that she had managed to escape?"
The man just stared at the place that Atlys' body had been and said to the person who asked and spoke calmy and certainly, "No, she did not manage to escape, and even if she did there is no chance of survival for her."
As this conversation happened the world around them had started to slowly collapse as the Obelisk was no longer being cleared. The world began to crumble around them which was a sign that the Dungeon withing the obelisk had not been completed. While the dungeon they were in was collapsing, many worlds were becoming overrun with monsters that slaughtered everything around them. Many worlds also started to collapse as well. Eventually after a period of time, many worlds were either overrun or were completely destroyed. Only a select few people and objects had managed to survive the collapse, amongst them were the man who had stabbed Atlys and his group as they somehow were able to withstand the collapse.
The group then exited the obelisk and looked around at their surroundings and noticed that everything was barren and there were only a few people who had managed to survive. They knew that they must have received a similar offer that allowed them to survive the collapse that had happened. They knew at that moment that this would be their life from now on, they would have to live a life were everyone and everything had disappeared, but they did not care as they had managed to survive.
