Chapter 4 - Thirst

(3rd Person P.O.V.)

The mood was tense.

The tension in the air palpable as eight individuals stood around a couch upon which semi-sat a pale, frail young woman who appeared to be on her last leg...if she even had the strength to stand, at all.

Seven of the standing ones resembled each other in their pale skin and dark brown eyes, bordering on black. However, the eighth stood out with his darker, more caramel skin-tone and sculpted physique that rested with a vibrating tension that the others in the room could not match with their practically statue-like resting state.

Some would consider them an odd bunch when viewed from the outside.

However, the vampires and werewolf were the least of the oddities in the room.

No, that distinction went to the young woman doing her best impersonation of a skeleton.

Why?

Simple really. It was because, unless the young woman spent absolutely all her energy doing everything that she could to destroy her body to the absolute limit, it would still be hard for her to look as sickly as she did, while sporting a slightly bulging stomach.

It was far too strange and veering towards the realm of scary.

No one in the room spoke.

They had already said their piece.

The consensus was practically unanimous, no matter how much it hurt some of them, but there was simply no other option. Whatever was being born in the young woman's body from the union of a human and a vampire, was growing fast and her body could not keep up.

It was impossible.

In the original scenario, Bella would not have reached such a state until right before the child was born and she was breaking back bones in order to bend over.

However, as our MC had said, things had changed and the world needed to know.

'Blood' and he would tell them.

Immediately, the once subdued and frankly sad visages in the room took on a look of alertness. Ready for action.

Say what you will about their lack of prep for the enemies that they faced or their crazy vegetarianism, but those reflexes that come so naturally to the vamps and wolves are very badass. Or so MC thought once he felt them react immediately to his intrusion.

He thought that he may have to reassess his threat assessment of the species. In Twilight they truly were not that impressive, however that was a movie. Who knew if something changed between that depiction and his new reality. Only experience would tell.

"Who?" Edward was the first to speak. His head swiveling around, garnering the most reaction. He was clearly not used to having his mind intruded upon.

Too bad.

"Clearly, we all heard that, yes. Jacob?" Carlisle asked, as he looked around at his family and then their rigid guest, whose furrowed brows and stiff nod spoke of his apprehension. Only his pack had ever stepped inside his mind and that was only when he was wolfed out. None of them were not on high alert.

'Thirst.' The wispy voice spoke out again, as if it drifted across the very surface of their thoughts. Though, they could tell they were not their own.

"I..." They all shifted their gaze to the horse voice that began to speak, despite the clear effort that if was taking just to get the words out. "I..heard it too," she said, causing everyone's eyes to widen to varying degrees. If there was one thing that was known, it was that Bella's mind had always been protected...from everyone.

Or at least, it had.

Edward kneeled down next to her, only after wasting two seconds on dramatics, while Jacob just took a small step forward. His eyes concerned as he took in the sight of his ailing best friend. His eyes briefly drifting over her stomach and then back to her face. A thought passed through his mind, however he quickly moved on.

Unfortunately, Edward was staring into the eyes of his wife and failed to eavesdrop properly.

No matter, being vague and mysterious only worked when one was in a position where they could walk away after being badass and wait for an answer.

(MC P.O.V.)

I could not wait.

If these bastards spent even a fraction of their time being even semi-normal, without all the staring, gazing, and glancing, then perhaps they would have the mental space to exercise observation. Jacob's punk ass was so close!

Well, as I said, vague and mysterious just won't cut it.

I focus on the minds around me.

It's difficult, since I'm not really using my talent, per se. It's supposed to be consolidated with the body, allowing the mind, body, and soul to become one. So far, I'm just soul for the most part, so this channeling is far more strenuous than it should be. I can tell that I will be out of commission for a while when this is done. My psyche already feels incredibly weak, just from the thoughts that I've been able to send out so far. It all costs energy, that neither I nor Bella are currently replenishing.

Welp, maximum effort coupled with one clear burst filled with emotion.

'Feed. Blood. Thirst.' Out.

(3rd Person P.O.V.)

They all felt it.

Of course, they knew they heard it, but until that last intrusion remarking feed, blood, thirst, they had only heard and not felt.

Of the nine people in the room, seven of them bared their fangs. Their eyes faded quickly from dark brown to pitch black. A clear response to the incredible hunger that was just conveyed to them. A hunger that overrode their own physiology and made it their own.

If when when Bella spoke, their eyes widened to varying degrees, this time each of their eyes looked as if they would pop out of their eye sockets.

Even Bella's. She felt it too.

Every pair of eyes looked at the slight bulge that was her stomach like it punched them in the face.

A few thoughts flittered here and their, but one thought passed through each of their minds, unnatural.

What the MC did not know was that, while he did in fact channel telepathy in order to communicate the message, he also channeled his intent along with it. An intent that conveyed emotion. An emotion that carried desperation. A desperation born out of the desire for sustenance.

To him, it was natural, give me food, idiots.

But to them, each of them, it was unnatural and more along the lines of I Will Eat Everything.

All in all, the MC both helped his cause, while at the same time, not so much.

Only time will tell how it all turns out.

(TIME SKIP NO JUTSU)

(MC P.O.V.)

'Ahhh, ten thousand years will give you such a creak in the neck,' I thought to myself upon regaining "consciousness". I could feel that I had been out a while. I'm not sure how, I simply know.

Perhaps, it has something to do with the fact that I have a body now?

Like a full body.

Arms, legs, shredded chest, everything.

I can tell that I'm still adrift in the liquid vessel that has housed me for millennia, however unlike when I last "woke", now I am more than just a not so shapely mass. Now, I am a fully formed and defined mass of baby not-yet-born.

Excellent and beautiful. Floating around in a belly would have definitely gotten old very fast, especially if I had to listen to the most boring vamps in the vast multiverse, if that is a thing in this reality. I mean, even those True Blood disappointments had some swag and a healthy dose of pride in their superiority. What kind of self-respecting alpha predator spends all their time in a fucking high school FOR NO REASON!

I mean, I could see if high school teens were your thing and you stuck as a seventeen year old. Got it, go to high school...no, no, nah fuck that. Take your old ass to college and smash that eighteen year old ass. High school is just too boring to endure, just for the sake of "blending in". The quotes are because the fuck-sticks never, not once, blended in. Everything about them screamed sus. My first thought would be cult. Definitely a cult.

Nonetheless, I digress. I'm "awake" and fully formed. The situation outside appears quiet.

No matter, let's do a quick check of Bella's mind, and.......fuck.
